After three novellas and two previous full length books, the Sons of Broad series has come to an end. This series started off with a bang for me and then slowed down a bit, though the last book and this one, definitely upped my curiosity. I thought all of the romantic suspense elements in the entire series were one well, but perhaps the story could have been told in a more concise form.
Anyway, in Broken Promise, we get Alyssa and Kipling’s story and I really loved them as a couple. They have known each other for years and are always butting heads. Now they find themselves needing to rely on each other to save missing women and stop the Gentleman serial killer. I think Kipling may be my favorite of all of the brothers and the pull and push of his relationship with Alyssa had me firmly invested in their romantic outcome. I loved how they were both mature adult characters who behaved in that manner. I also was very impressed with how Thomas tied up the series. All of my questions were answered, there were no loose ends and we got to see where all of the characters we have spent time with are moving forward. At the end of the day, I did enjoy this series and I really needed to know how it would all end. I would definitely read another romantic suspense series by Tara Thomas in the future.
Once again the Bennett Men and Jade are in for a whirl of an adventure. There is plenty of action and intrigue in this the story of Kipling and his frenemy Alyssa. She has been the vane of his existence and even arrested him once. This time the stakes are higher and they will work together to find the killer. There is too much at stake to lose him this time. The author gets our blood roaring with the adventure and intrigue and keeps it there with the passion between these two. There’s is no so much a wining and dining affair as a collaboration of sorts because of course like the other women who love these Bennett men she aint a woos. Great story and even enjoyed the extra novella I was treated to.
Love this author and her style. She keeps the pace flowing and it makes for good reading. Love this family and all that surrounds them.
Intriguing end to a great series. This is the final book & manages to wrap up the ongoing saga of murder & mayhem along with the identity of the man behind it all. The plot takes twists & facts are revealed that are unexpected. Alyssa & Kipling are at odds for a large portion & the attraction builds as does the intensity of the mystery. I really enjoyed this one!
An almost enemies to lovers romance, a cat and mouse game with The Gentleman, and some twists and turns brings the Sons of Broad series to a close. Lots of secrets are revealed in this final book in the series, and it moves at a faster pace than its predecessors. I did have a problem with a couple of things toward the end that seemed to have information missing, making the conclusion feel a bit rushed for me. Nevertheless, Kipling and Alyssa are, hands down, my favorite couple in this series. I liked the banter between them as they move toward romance, and they make more logical decisions under pressure than the other couples in the series. I also liked than in addition to finally learning The Gentleman’s identity, we get the backstory on how it all began and why he’s so determined to destroy this family. While each book has focused on a different couple, the main storyline has been a continuing one from the beginning, so I would suggest reading the books in order to get the full story. Despite the couple of issues I had with the ending, this one is, in my opinion, the best in the series.

This is the final book in the Sons of Broad, however when I requested this book I wasn’t aware that this was book 3, so you will need to read the other books first, as I felt that I was missing a lot – and that is nobody’s fault but my own.
I enjoyed the writing, the story flowed and was very action packed. I adored the relationship between the brothers (again though, I know I was missing so much) and love their commitment t0 family.
For me though, I just didn’t feel the romantic connection between Alyssa and Kipling. Sure I felt friendship and love of sorts, but I didn’t get the romantic thing – well, except for the lust. However this is probably just me.
I know this makes it sound that I didn’t like this book, however that is not the case. I know that if I had read the previous 2 books and their noveallas I would have felt different about this book.
Don’t make my mistake and not read the earlier books, and I am sure you will love it. I will be going back and reading the earlier entries in the series and will come back and reread this one again later, and am sure I will enjoy it more.
Again, nothing wrong with the writing or anything, this is all on me.
3.75 stars–BROKEN PROMISE is the third full-length instalment in Tara Thomas’ contemporary, adult SONS OF BROAD romantic suspense series. This is Charleston Police Officer Alyssa Adams, and billionaire businessman Kipling Benedict’s story line. BROKEN PROMISE can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order for cohesion and backstory as there is a continuing premise and theme throughout.
Told from several third person points of view including Alyssa and Kipling BROKEN PROMISE follows the building but forbidden relationship between Charleston Police Officer Alyssa Adams, and billionaire Kipling Benedict. Weeks earlier Officer Adams arrested Kipling Benedict on suspicion of murder but in the ensuing time Alyssa is all too well aware that there is more going down than meets the eye. With the body count rising, and each successive murder linked back to the Benedict brothers and their significant others, Alyssa’s own family history begins to unravel as threats against our heroine finds Kipling and Alyssa working together to reveal the truth. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Alyssa and Kipling, as they are pulled into a game of cat and mouse wherein Alyssa and Kipling have been targeted by someone from the past.
BROKEN PROMISE is the culmination of several story lines including the original three-part serial that focused on deception and revenge; jealousy and envy. The Benedict brothers have been pulled into the ‘Gentleman’s’ game of vengeance, a game that involved murder, torture and the ultimate act of betrayal. The premise is entertaining and engaging; the characters are charismatic; the romance is passionate and fated. I did struggle with the slow progress of events throughout the story; I am hoping the author has plans for Jade.
4 Star Review Broken Promise (Sons of Broad #3) by Tara Thomas
Tara Thomas is a new author to me. I had no idea going into reading Broken Promise that this was book three and the final book in the trilogy. I do believe that this is a series that needs to be read in order as I was a lost whilst reading, not knowing the back story that had occurred in books 1 and 2.
I really liked the characters of Alyssa Adams and Kipling Benedict. Running for their lives, whilst trying to track down a missing sibling and a killer bent on revenge, Alyssa and Kipling are drawn together more and more. The chemistry between the two was strong and sizzled.
There was certainly intrigue, mystery and suspense and I found the writing to be solid. The characters were likeable and the storyline was gripping.
Broken Promises is the third and final book in the romantic suspense Sons of Broad series. This series got better each book and I am really happy how the author finished it. I think the main reason I enjoyed this book more than the previous ones are the characters. They were adults and acted in a way that made sense. Alyssa is a police officer and her behavior reflected her profession. Kipling is the oldest brother and is very protective. The tension between these two was noticeable in the previous books. I loved seeing how these two came together, and wished there were a couple more scenes showing them being intimate.
In this book there are a couple of twists and turns, and I was happy I finally found out who was terrorizing this family. I loved how everything eventually fit together and having all the answers to my questions. I am really hoping for a novella showing how all the couples are doing in the future. The suspense was perfect, I was just hoping for a bit more romance. The writing was excellent and I loved the writing style, because it was really easy to read. I just wished the book was a bit longer, however I am satisfied with how everything concluded. I am looking forward to reading more books by Tara Thomas.
Broken Promise is book three in the romantic suspense series the Sons of Broad. This book can be read as a standalone but a lot of the backstory in the characters’ lives will be lost. At his brother’s vow renewal, Kipling Benedict, head of the family, comes face to face with officer Alyssa Adams. Officer Adams arrested and humiliated Kipling in the past and cannot stand him. Yet he still finds her the sexiest challenge he has ever had. With past betrayals, neither one is looking for a relationship, but danger and adrenaline heat their blood and bring their attraction to the forefront. The couple must race to save Kipling’s half sister from the mad man, the Gentleman, who just keeps plotting against the Benedicts. The past is front and center as unexpected links to Alyssa ‘s murdered sister and the Benedict family’s friend collide in twists and turns that keeps the pages flying by. Fast paced and action packed, the story unfolds quickly with explosive chemistry between Alyssa and Kipling and a nice, somewhat predictably, sweet HEA. A bonus Sons of Broad novella is included that is just as action packed and has a buoyant HEA. Two feel good stories, full of memorable characters that will keep you coming back for more, rolled into one book for a wonderful read. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
Alyssa is a cop who has been tracking someone who’s kidnapping and killing women. The more she investigates, the more she thinks it’s the same one who killed her sister years ago. Now someone is after her and Kipling. Kipling is the oldest brother of the Benedict’s and was arrested once by Alyssa who thought he was a criminal. They are running for their life, trying to find a killer and falling in love.
I don’t want to give too much away. This is a series that needs to be read from the first. Suspense, secrets, and sexy. I absolutely loved it. Kept me reading late into the night.

Let me start off by saying these books need to be read in the order they were released, there is a running story and cliffhangers with the prior books that bring us to this final book in the series and let me tell you it was a great way to end things!
Alyssa and Kipling were perfect together, I loved the way they worked together and their chemistry was intense.
This story left no questions unanswered which is the perfect way to end a series. I look forward to reading more of Tara Thomas’ work.
If you enjoy Romantic Suspense I would highly recommend this series to you.
Happy Reading!!!
The story is gripping, the characters smart. It’s a little twisted to keep you on the edge.

First book read by this author. Kipling and Alyssa must work together to find the clues and locations for their kidnapped family members. Good story line and suspense.
Ebook from net galley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
4 1/2 STARS!
An explosive conclusion to the mystery that’s been haunting the Benedict family! If you’ve been following along with the series, you will recognize both of the main characters of this story. Kip has been flirting with sexy cop Alyssa throughout the series and it’s finally time for him to make his move. We weave through more mystery and chaos before finally discovering who The Gentleman is and to what lengths he’s gone to and why in his quest to ruin the Benedicts. Really enjoyed the series and felt like this was a fitting ending!
Charleston police officer Alyssa Adams pledged her life years ago to helping victimized women and to bringing justice for their families, and in this book we find out where her passion came from. She had an older sister she adored that went missing a decade ago and was never heard from again. She’s determined to one day find out exactly what happened to her, and the way things are shaking out with the Benedict case, she might be getting closer than she ever though possible!
Kipling Benedict can’t deny a major attraction to Alyssa every time she’s been around during this family trouble of late, so any opportunity to get up close and personal with her is a pleasure … but this time, he really needs her help! Turns out their long-lost sister that they only recently learned of has now been taking by whoever it is that’s torturing their family. He needs Alyssa to help him figure out who it is and track her down before it’s too late!
I received a copy from NetGalley.
It took me a little bit to get everyone straight because I hadn’t read the previous books it didn’t stop me from needing to figure out this mystery. I was texting my blog partner, who had read the rest of the series, asking who The Gentleman is. She said she didn’t know but hoped to find out in this story. I was sucked into trying to put the pieces together and unravel the twisted story-line. I also fell for these characters and all of the pain and love that had gone on in their lives. The author did a brilliant job creating mystery, suspense, heat, and romance.
As this is a new-to-me author, and I haven’t read the other two books in the series, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I enjoyed the characters and storyline, although it did take me a little bit to get into it, I did like the book overall.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher, St. Martin’s Press, via NetGalley. My thoughts, opinions, and reviews a
What a great story! I have never read Tara Thomas before but I will be looking for her other books. Broken Promise is the story of Kipling Benedict and Alyssa Adams. They meet in a previous book but that is an unimportant detail as this is a stand-alone novel. Alyssa is a Charlotte Police detective and Kipling is the head of the family industry. This book starts at the wedding of one of the Benedict brothers. While both of them feel a mutual attraction, Alyssa is not interested in a relationship. Her life has been focused on finding the person who murdered her sister when Alyssa was a child. But as the plot takes shape, Kipling’s half-sister is kidnapped and the 2 main characters team up to find the person behind it. There are many details that begin to come to light and they get closer to both the murderer and the kidnapper. Without giving away any of the plot, this story is full of twists and is well written. The author ties up the loose ends nicely before bringing the novel to its conclusion. A definite 5-star read!

This is the third book in the series and I would suggest that you read the previous books in the series or else you might feel lost. There is a lot that happens in them and you might not understand the whole plot without having read them.
Kipling was not my favorite character in the previous books. He seemed hard and without sympathy a lot of the time. I really wanted to see if he evolved in this book. Then you have Alyssa. She was a kick butt, take-no-prisoners police officer – she even put Kipling and his family under the microscope a few times. She has her own dark past and doesn’t trust easily.
These two characters have been quasi-dancing around each other with a ton of tension for a few books. When it looks like Kipling is going to need Alyssa’s help, both have to learn that sometimes, trusting someone is the only way forward.
Alyssa has a past that has driven her to become a police officer. She also has a family life that is less than ideal. When those two reasons collide, sparks will not only fly, alliances will change, and her childhood will make so much more sense!
Kipling is struggling with the revelation from the previous book. When someone he cares about is in danger, he will enlist Alyssa to help him figure out why this has been happening and who is behind it.
There is a lot that happens in this story – it’s fast paced, but the love story is more back burner, which I appreciated. With the mystery so complex, it is a great guessing game until the end.
I ended up really liking this story and even though Kipling still isn’t my favorite character, he definitely grew on me. I hope there are more stories to come!

This was a really good, satisfying ending to this Trilogy. This is Kipling’s story and you really do need to read the first 2 books to have any clue what is going on in this one. Also those books are well worth reading. We finally find out who The Gentleman is and why he is doing this to the family. Kipling and Alyssa pair up to finally take down The Gentleman and of course fall in love. I was happy with the ending. If Tara ever decides to do a book on Jade I hope it’s years in the future as the poor girl needs a lot of help first.
