As the second child of a shifter, Itzel is nothing more than a common human. Her father, the Ocelot Nation’s king, never lets her forget it. Though she is technically a princess, the most she can hope for is an arranged marriage that will benefit her sister Camila, heir to the ocelot throne. In the meantime, Itzel enjoys herself, running wild with stable boys by night and advising her sister by … sister by day. Then her father forces her hand, and Itzel dives headfirst into a plan to get her sister to the throne immediately.
When she volunteers to help Camila seduce a shaman from the Jaguar Nation, she is drawn into the mysterious world of shifter mating rituals that will push every boundary and test her limits in ways she never imagined.

Terrific Beginning!
This was a terrific beginning to what is sure to be a great series. It was fast paced with lots of suspense and intrigue. Also loaded with plenty of very steamy moments.
Itzel is a remarkable character. She’s feisty, sexy and extremely loyal to her family and kingdom. She is sacrificing so much for her sister. Her sister Camila started off being a shy and meek princess who needs her sister for support. But as the story unfolds she is showing a darker side. She becomes whiny, snooty and mean. Sometimes not even caring for Itzel. The dynamics between these two is constantly changing. Itzel is also changing but I am not sure how yet. Something big is going to happen soon in the next book or so.
The writing and world building was great. It kept me fully engaged in the story and highly entertained. I can’t wait to read the next one.
This is a great reverse harem, dark paranormal romance that hooks you in from the very start. Itzel is the second child of the Ocelot Nation’s king and as such, she is a shifter princess who can not shift. She is human, and in the Ocelot society humans are second class citizens. Her sister, Camila, is destined to become queen and must find her mate by first visiting all the shifter kingdoms and securing their mating amulets. The cruelty of her father pushes Itzel into helping with Camila with her quest, and she is thrust into a sensual, danger filled world the likes of which Itzel could never have imagined.
This book was a surprise, it is dark, seductive and addictive. I liked the concept of environmental disasters leading to the shifters taking over, how each shifter nation is different, and that not all of them see humans as second class. It is a fast-moving story that has more to it than just the erotica. It has characters that change as the book progresses, elements of romance, politics, action, danger, and some dark, sexual violence that some may find triggering. The men in the story have enough individuality and varying dynamics with Itzel to keep them from all feeling the same and I also liked that her harem will be established throughout the series and is not an already established group. Itzel is fierce, loyal, and determined to get her sister on the throne, no matter the cost to herself. She is smart and strong and just keeps moving forward, even when she encounters awful things. It will be interesting to see what happens next in this story.
Great start to a new series. I like how the story keeps you guessing what’s going to happen next. I can’t wait to listen to the next book in this series. I would definitely recommend this book to read or listen to.
What an incredible read! I am so enthralled! Who is this princess Itzel? I know there is more to her that what even she knows and I am hooked. Eager to be important and make a difference in her Kingdom but the second daughter of a King who doesn’t care not only about his family but anyone else it seems, other than himself. This is the first in James’ Feline Royals series and a wonderful into to some primary characters. An exciting storyline that will take you on a heated and emotional roller coaster of a ride – full of mystery and excitement. I thought the narration was done perfectly – the tone and accents used for the multiple characters by Jake Bordeaux was perfection and Bridget Bordeaux did a great job with the female characters as well able to infuse the right emotion of the character in her tone. I hope to have the opportunity to listen to the rest of this series as this is going to be one incredible ride!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Itzel is the 2nd born daughter to the Ocelot king so that makes her human and her father looks down on her all the time . She will do anything for her sister the future queen Camilla and getting her on the throne is her main priority . Love Itzel and her chemistry with Lord Balam is off the charts I can’t wait for book 2 . Bridget and Jake narrate this book perfectly as usual .
This was my first Alexa B. James. This is the first book in the Feline Royals, a Dark Paranormal Reverse Harem Series. Itzel’s quest is intense, filled with action, danger, betrayal, and steamy scenes. Itzel is an amazing character, strong, sassy, adventurous, brave, and determined. Her mates, Lord Balam, Gabor, and Shadow, are interesting characters. Itzel’s sister is such a spoiled character, powerless, and incompetent. The world building of the Ocelot Kingdom is original, dark, and intriguing. Bridget Bordeaux and Jake Bordeaux did a great job with the narration. Looking forward to listen to Captive Princess, the next book in the Series.
Broken Princess (Feline Royals #1) was a good read by Alexa B. James. Itzel is a common human as the second child of a shifter. Her father is the Ocelot Nation’s King and never allows her to forget it. She is technically a princess but her sister Camila is the heir to the Ocelot throne. Itzel enjoys herself, runs wild with stable boys, and advising her sister. Her father decides to force her hand, and it causes her to dive headfirst in a plan to immediately get her sister to the throne. She volunteers to help Camila seduce a shaman and is drawn into the mysterious world of shifter mating rituals. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more in this series.
Their father betrayed them and now she will do anything to get her sister to the throne. She may need to give herself to another to help find an amulet. What will she have to do? Will it work? See if it will

Damn. What a ride. Heed the warnings, though: if you’re squeamish or easily triggered, abort abort abort! There are rape scenes, brutal abuse scenes, and some seriously f*cked-up family dynamics going on.
Having said all that, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Itzel (cool name!) is tough as nails. Many girls couldn’t have survived what she goes through. She’s driven by loyality to her useless sister and more importantly, the desire to topple her brutal father off the throne to ease the citizens’ suffering. Basically, she does what needs to be done, takes a shower, and moves forward.
The guys are not that likeable, but they’d kill for her (and frequently do.) The story is fast-paced and exciting. I couldn’t put the book down!
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Once I started I could not put the book down from start to finish you just could not get enough left you wanting more twists and turns with emotions that makes you wanting.so she can look after her before she starts at &greed the characters are interesting in this series is intense hot and steamy with emotions that are like to finish you just could not get the story was well written and the first boy was Itzel was helping her sister get the crown.
Thank you for allowing me to review your book.

This book was great! I could not put it down!
The story and the action flowed so well together. The characters really stand out, as well. There may have been a few parts where I was like, “meh”, but the rest had my eyes glues to every word.
I will say, though, that I am not a big fan of Camila. She grates on my last nerve and I honestly hope she does not become queen. I sort of expect her to show her true colors and betray her sister. But that could just be wistful thinking.
So worth the read!
Broken Princess is book one and a fantastic start to the Feline Royals Series. Itzel is human and her sister Camila is a shifter and heir to the Ocelot Nation. I love how strong Itzel is and how determined she is to make her sister the Queen. This is a well written book with intriguing characters. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
Itzel is a princess in the Ocelet Kingdom but shes not a shifter. Which makes her not only human but a lesser being in her father and the rest of the Kingdoms eyes. When her sister Camilia (the future Queen) needs to go on a quest to acquire a set of artifacts to find her mate. Itzel is enlisted to help her. Not by choice. It comes with its own complications. Namely three shifters – Gabor (a loyal guard), Lord Balam (a man thats interested in getting to know he intimately) and Shadow (the keeper of one of the artifacts). Three sources of sexual tension thats for sure. Boy they are smoking hot! A great RH shifter romance and a brilliant read. Looking forward to book 2 to find out what happens next
