Alanna may have survived her encounter with her past, but it left a mark on her soul, one she doesn’t think will ever get clean. While her relationship with the talnarins at Craforian has improved, Alanna knows that secrets are still being kept. Unbeknownst to them all, Alanna’s already discovered a couple using a few tricks of her own. And to complicate matters, Alanna is beginning to feel things … feel things for Malik; emotions she doesn’t understand.
When Malik brings her through a secret underground maze, Alanna realizes that there is more to Craforian than meets the eye. Only a select few know of the tunnels twisting beneath Craforian and why they’re there. Now she’s one of them, and for good reason.
And just when Alanna settles back into a routine, a nefarious plot unravels as an assassin makes himself known.
Can she save the people she loves in time? Or is she once again three steps behind?
**Recommended for 18+ due to profanity, dark themes, sexual tones, and violence. Slow burn romance, kicka** heroine, enemies to lovers tropes. This is not a standalone and ends in a cliffhanger.

This book sure does delivers when it comes to an action packed adventure. The world building lures you with intricate characters and more. There was never a dull moment when reading this book. Highly recommend.
Alanna’s story just keeps getting more complex. Someone wants her gone, but who? She gets attacked and yet she still wants to prove her worth to those of whom she’s lost, but also those who have shown her love and protection. Malik still wants to see exactly what she is made of, but now she has his trust. He opens up to her, letting her know more of the talanarian secrets and where exactly she may fit into all of this. The story is getting good.
Just when we think we are getting closer to the answer of who is behind the rogues and all their evil doings, we end up taking two steps back and almost starting at the beginning again. Alanna learns more about the history of humans and talnarins, why humans were considered such a threat. She continues her training in all of the talnarins affinity and is introduced to the other humans who are at Craforian and learns the purpose of them being there. Alanna and Malik’s also grows closer and their relationship changes as well. Still, there are new dangers and intrigues they all must face. Thus the mystery continues.
I like how this book closes a lot of the points brought up in the previous books that were introduced and then just went no where. I am happy the sexual tension between Alanna and Malik have final come to a head. With all the things going on, they need their own little piece of heaven to escape all the craziness they must deal with. The part where she journals, I felt that part was a little jarring since it felt out of place being that she doesn’t speak about her family and she hasn’t journal for a long time now and then you get this part and she talks about them. To me, it just didn’t fit in, felt right.
I thought the series might end in this book but half way through, I realized that was not going to be the case. The author has created enough intrigue that I am looking forward to reading the next book to see where she is leading us.
The saga continues…
D. E. Chapman has written a masterpiece about life. The journey through Alanna’s life definitely has its twist and turns. This book as with the whole series is well written and will suck you in and you won’t put it down. I recommend this book to everyone!
This is such a great addition to the series! I’m so sad I now have to wait for the next book!
Each book answers more questions, but of course there are even more question added. And I’m so happy to see that something starts happening between Malik and Alanna! And it is really great how the story progresses.
I seriously can’t wait to find out where the author is going to take this story. And I wonder how many books will be in this series!
