Street smart, stubborn, and struggling.Quinn Ivers scrapes by one day at a time in a world where Omegas are viewed as less than nothing and are subject to the whims of others. Slinging drinks in a nightclub with a wicked reputation, she just wants to make it to the next day. Her world is rife with an array of dangers, but it’s hers and she answers to no one.Until Tobias Kahler appears and ruins … appears and ruins everything, including her.
The man who owns the city has set his eyes on the waitress, and he won’t be denied. Merciless and without remorse, he’ll do anything to make her his and keep her by his side for a purpose Quinn could never have guessed at.
Even when broken, she will fight to keep her sanity and herself alive, enduring whatever evils are thrown at her.
For the spark of hope buried under all the pain, she’ll do a lot more than that.
Broken is the first book in the Omega’s Destruction series, a raw and thrilling Omegaverse tale. It is not a traditional romance, containing dark themes and complete power exchange. Scenes are not glossed over, which may be distressing for some readers.

The characters are not so much wonderful, as they are memorable. This story packs a punch of unable to forget!
I had heard so many good things about this series, and Eva Dresden.
I am happy to find that giving this series a chance, was not a bad decision!
By the last page of this book I feel like I want to crawl into a corner with only soft things… Because its been a wretched heartbreaking road so far!
Eva brings out all the familiar tropes in this Omegaverse, and I absolutely love it. The territorial behaviour, the aggression, the way Quinn feels about children and the lengths she goes and pain she suffers… This book was one I couldn’t put down. Dark indeed!
I find myself not trusting anybody but Quinn herself, and I question everybody and suspect foul play from everyone else, even Tobias…
Superb writing that leaves you slightly queazy and wretched in places, this book is full of triggers and noncon, just so you are warned.
5-wrenching-stoneinmychest-awesome stars for this book!
I can’t wait to begin Damaged (Omega’s Destruction Book Two)! Because I know that in the very end, we do get our HEA…
I’m such an Omegaverse lover, than I will quickly snatch-up that that that fail under that theme. Unfortunately, many don’t. Using words like “alpha, omega, or knot” don’t instantly put a book in the category. It’s world-building, the development of the dynamic between alpha and Omega. The Queens of the Omegaverse, Addison Cain, Nora Ash, and Zoey Ellis, have spoiled me. This is a great story. It’s graphic and gripping. It’s painful and heartbreaking, but that is part of what the Omegaverse theme is – the alpha forcing the Omega to start to care, using their bodies against them, then the Omega inturn softens the alpha with the love they don’t deserve. It’s a twisted, dark romance. This story is harsher than some others, but I still hope that there will be love in the end
OMG! This book had my emotions all over the place. I laughed, I cried, etc. On the edge of your seat writing. Eva Dresden did justice to this story. It’s almost indescribable. Although this may not be everyone’s cup of tea. There are quite a few situations that might be triggers. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and look so forward to the next installment of this book.
Quinn’s life has never been easy. Circumstances have her mated to Kahler. Their lives are complicated. She’s pregnant but during a fire she gets taken, used and abused. How the woman isn’t broken beyond repair is beyond me. Quinn gets taken to a place but she feels something is not right. Meanwhile Kahler is looking for Quinn. TBC
I don’t think I have adequate words to express how I feel about this book. Eva Dresden is a new to me author and a fresh voice in the Omegaverse genre. Broken is a dark Omegaverse romance that will take you on a journey you won’t soon forget. My heart broke so many times while reading this book, but there was always that sliver of hope that kept me from throwing my kindle at the wall. Quinn is an amazingly strong and resilient character. She is a true survivor, despite the cards she keeps getting dealt. I went though so many emotions when it comes to Tobias (most of them having to do with wanting to light him on fire). I have a feeling that we barely scratched the surface with his character and I can’t wait to see more from him. The writing is flawless and Ms. Dresden’s voice has a unique quality to it that’s hard to describe but that works extremely well in the context of the world she built. As you would expect with this genre, there are plenty of steamy scenes (and fluids) that are quite descriptive and exceptionally well written. As this is book one of the series, there are a lot of unanswered questions at the end and it ends on a cliffhanger. I can’t wait for the next book!
I loved this book! It was so dark and disturbing and heartbreaking! It has all the triggers, so you’ve been warned. It is not light, easy reading. Quinn will break your heart, nothing goes right for this poor Omega. She’s abused over and over again, and things just go from bad to worse. I certainly hope things improve for her in the next book…. which I want NOW!
This book is darker than the infinite black of intergalactic space, where no stars shine. What a cold, bleak and frightening world Dresden deftly formed here, where the dominant culture of criminal violence, repression of all but the upper classes, and the virtual enslavement of many of its inhabitants have maintained an iron grip on the humanoids—Alpha, Beta, and Omega—who dwell here. In this forbidding world lives a tough, streetwise young woman, Quinn, who has learned to survive on her own mostly by projecting an insolent attitude, a defiant posture, so that most who meet her do not trouble themselves to have dealings with her. She wants them to stay out of her way, and she will stay out of theirs.
When the story opens, we learn Quinn is in a stage of Omega life most desired by all-powerful Alphas: she is nubile. Thus far, though, through the use of suppressant drugs that hide her Omega nature, she has been fortunate enough to avoid being snatched off the street by any number of unscrupulous Alphas. But, no more. Principal Alpha of the district, Tobias sees Quinn at the bar where she works as a waitress and dancer, and he decides he wants her. Tobias forms a relationship with Quinn mostly by force. This book does end on a cliffhanger. We must await the next book, Damaged, to find out what Quinn has had to endure.
Despite the extremely dark scene cast by the author in this book, I loved it and cannot wait for the next book. I adored Quinn (despite her temper) and loved Tobias (despite his arrogant high-handedness). I see hope for the two of them and their family, assuming they can escape the evil they are mired in at the end of Broken. Eva Dresden is a very talented writer. I enjoyed experiencing the dark, broken world she built, and the complex characters she set in place there. Five stars!
This is Omegaverse, if you don’t know what it is, please take the time to look it up before you judge this book. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it’s DEFINITELY Mine.
*Grins*

BROKEN
EVA DRESDEN
This is, as far as I can tell, the first of Eva Dresden’s books and I can tell you now I can not wait to see what else she comes up with.
It’s no secret that Omegaverse is my absolute favourite of the dark romance subgenres and that in my humble opinion, no one holds a candle to Addison Cain’s work within that genre.
Until now!
Ms Dresden has me absolutely hooked and I put her right up there with my all-time favourites (Addison Cain, Amelia Hutchins, Karen Marie Moning, Darynda Jones…and a few more).
This book had me from the very beginning and I didn’t put it down until I was finished the whole thing. That almost never happens for me.
QUIN – I loved Quin so much throughout this whole story. The way this little omega handled the many piles of steaming shit that were placed in her path.
She’s had to bring herself up quite a bit as her mother seems to be more interested in working at the club and getting many a male’s attention than she does in being a mother.
Quin often goes without meals and struggles with poverty every day, just barely able to make rent each month.
You would think that was bad enough but her luck turns even worse when the suppressants (for hiding and controlling her Omega scent and cravings) failed her miserably one night and an extremely dominant Alpha forces her into a “sticky” situation in the bathroom at work.
She has no idea who he and she doesn’t care, she just never wants to see him again.
No such luck.
Oh, My Goddess, the things that this beautiful soul goes through are…horrific. Her heart and soul are chewed up and spit out by not only the mysterious male from the bathroom at work but, by pretty much everyone she hopes might be able to help her.
And here’s the thing I freakin’ LOVE about this little Omega. She. Is. Fierce.
I love that in this story Omegas have fire and are dangerous when pushed too far. Like, freakin’ feral.
Tobias – So this is the main “Alpha” in this story but he is not the only one. He is exactly what I love in an alpha. As well as making me want to punch him in the sac for most of the story, he showed just enough of something almost kind to hint that he was something more than the utter heartless prick that he presents himself as.
So, here’s the part where I tell you that, even though he is an utter bastard, I want…no NEED more of him.
I’m craving this guy, and I need more of him and Quin. He is just so…well, alpha, lol.
He sees something he wants in Quin, and he is used to getting what he wants. He basically abducts her and unfortunately for Quin, the rights of an Omega just aren’t up to scratch. Especially after he sees her through her heat, and everything that happens during that time means she is shit out of luck.
But that doesn’t mean he has it easy. Nope, I think that he really wasn’t prepared for Quin’s fire and is completely pissed the hell off with her because he doesn’t know what to do to get her to behave.
He can be absolutely brutal but you can also see his lighter side. I don’t say “softer” side because I’m not sure the man has a softer side at all, but he can definitely be lighter sometimes.
SEX SCENES – Okay, WOW! Like holy freakin’ coffee beans! The sex scenes are hard, hot and heavy. Every single one of them.
She makes him work for it, I’ll tell ya!
I had the fan going throughout the whole book, by the way, just a heads up.
FINAL THOUGHTS, this book just stole the breath from my lungs.
It was so heart wrenching. I felt so torn and broken while reading it that it followed me into the rest of my daily routine.
Seriously it was that good.
The characters were amazing, the worldbuilding superb. I didn’t feel at any point that there was any unnecessary padding or irrelevant details.
I am desperately awaiting the next in the series as it ended on a cliffhanger.
5 Stars!
the book cover and title is befitting the story
dark, hot, and pur perfection with the alpha/omega plot. this is my first read with this author and she easily climbed to my top 5 favorites (and I read A LOT). full of dread and desperation, Quinn’s story is devastatingly entrancing. full of D’s, this one lol. Very well written. if you enjoy reading Addison cain’s stories, you will gobble this one up
Broken is the debut novel of author Eva Dresden, and it is a standout entrance. This is a dark novel, and the language is both fierce and bleak, and it is not for readers that do not want to be challenged by the depth of the language and imagery. You will be drowned in this story once you start it, and for days afterwards you may not feel like you’ve come back.
This is an Omegaverse novel, which one hopes the reader will be familiar with prior to reading it. Although even if not, the tight writing of this book will carry the unfamiliar along. Quinn is our heroine here, and circumstances have not been kind to her at the beginning of the book. She is struggling, but doing the best she can to improve her situation. A chance opportunity suggests that something might finally be turning for her, but then the situation begins to spiral out of control, and Quinn finds that her troubles are only just beginning.
Without giving away too much of this novel, the story here really comes down to two people; Quinn and Kahler. This is their story, and it is what both drives the novel and gives us the most conflict within the novel. There is growing tension between the two, and also a growing sense of frustration, because there is no denying that despite how their relationship begins, there is attraction between these two. But the both frustrating and wonderful thing about this book is the interplay between the two, and the flawed nature of both characters. They should recognize the things that the reader sees about them both, and of course they don’t, which makes their interactions both so delicious and exasperating at the same time. I found this especially true of Quinn. I wanted her to see what I saw in Kahler, but she couldn’t because their initial contact was such that it colored her ability to recognize his own feelings and motivations. This helps to drive the narrative forward, because this conflict, and the given and take, back and forth between the two characters just pulls you in and holds you as it teases you as to whether these two will finally acknowledge what there is between the two of them.
A few warnings. This is a dark novel, and there are some very intense scenes and subjects discussed here. There is nothing light and frothy about this story. That is part of the attraction, however, at least to this reader. The second is that this novel does not have an HEA, or even what I would call a HFN. There are hints of such at the very end, but that could also be wishful thinking on the part of this reader.
There is a second novel in the works according to the author, and so that is hopeful in terms of seeing how Quinn and Kahler’s story plays out. But the ending of Broken will leave you feeling broken, but you’ll be glad you read this fantastic first novel nonetheless. And you’ll be eager for her next book soon!
This book was amazing!!!
Quinn is an Omega acting as a beta, but of course she can’t hide from her alpha!!!!
Quinns story made me oh so happy and so sad!! She was exceedingly strong with the life she was handed and with the life that was forced upon her!!
Eva wrote an awesome story that ends with a cliff hanger, I cannot wait till the next book.
My heart is still bleeding and I need it to stop.!!!!!!!!!!
Quinn is just trying to survive one day at a time. Never did she expect an encounter at work with a mysterious Alpha will start a chain of events that will change her life forever.
I’ve read lots of Omegaverse to date and this one is one that’s got me tied in knots. It’s quite dark and nothing new to me in terms of dark Omegaverse. However, it’s that we are left to wonder our heroine’s fate. It seems her life is one that is always a struggle and looks to be one that we will continue to be. I really wish we know more about our Alpha. He seems like he is someone of importance but we are kept in the dark. He has power and is someone no one wants to mess with. I really hope we don’t have to wait a long time for the next book. I really want to know what happens next.
I’m going to be honest, I love/hate this book.
Truly dark, this book needs all the warnings! I want to say this is the darkest thing I’ve read, and I’m not really a fan of the truly pitch black.
That said, it’s a great story! Amazing for a first from this author and I still plan to read everything she does. She has a unique way of describing things that is a bit confusing, this is not an easy read and you will have to really pay attention. I found myself rereading parts three and four times sometimes just to try and understand what she meant, but it’s refreshing that the same old thing isn’t used and she really tries to pull you into the story.
There is violence. Quite a bit of it and I got really uncomfortable towards the end of the book. I still wanted to know what happened next, and still do, but I was constantly scared something unforgivable was about to happen. This is not a quick, easy read, and not for the faint of heart.
This is a great debut by Eve. She has taken the Omegaverse genre and made it her own. Her characters are certainly memorable and the dark alley she takes her readers on, will leave you squirming in a corner wanting more.
Our female MC thought that she was safe, but this Alpha has his eyes set on her and has given no quarter. Her attempts to flee lands her in deep waters and have her facing punishment that she did not expect.
Read it and fall in love with this authors unique voice. Book 2 can’t be out soon enough for me.
Holy Shnikeys!
I am going to try and do this without any spoilers.
This is one of those reads that will honestly chew you up and swallow you whole – there is no escaping the darkness here.
When I started this book I was a bit unsure of what the heck was happening.
As the story progressed I was still feeling lost.
Did this discourage me from moving forward?
No!
Despite feeling like I was missing some seriously important details the overall writing was hypnotic.
I was compelled to turn the pages .. to move forward
~ I HAD TO KNOW
Quinn ~ I am not even sure how to describe her character. When the story opens she is doing what she must to survive working as a server in a gentleman’s (they were far from) lounge.
Her character had that kindness, that innocence that emits from a soul that has seen/experienced loss yet still radiates hope she will someday acquire her dream.
As the story progresses her intelligence and ability to think fast become predominant in keeping herself alive. We do lose her for a bit (this is a section I would have liked more detail regarding) but she comes back and she comes back with a vengeance.
Tobias – not even an antihero
No chance for redemption.
No hope that he has a kind bone in his body.
I am pretty sure that pure evil runs through his veins.
Why he chose Quinn as his “mate” I still am unsure of; I do feel however from the little breadcrumb clues that there is more to his claim than a chance encounter. I think I know what the secret may be linked to but obviously, I need more.
As for the supporting cast – They all need to be dipped in vats of boiling oil ~ and that would be a kindness as far as I am concerned.
I was drawn in and held captive from the first page. I literally was grasping my kindle in terror one moment then smiling with hope the next. I would finally breath believing there was hope only to be thrust back into crimson covered pages of horror and desperation. This is a very psychologically trying read.
Worth the emotional overload ~ floved it!
My biggest complaint with the story was the lack of background and details regarding certain scenes.
Being a first in series I expected all the background and world-building, I may be a bit spoilt.
This is not the way Dresden writes. Seems she may be a bit sadistic and prefers to toss her readers into the deep end, laughing as we attempt to stay afloat. Don’t get it twisted she occasionally provided flotation devices (bits of information) but just enough to keep us treading water and seeking the shoreline.
I am a sucker for survival.
If you are a lover of DARK Omegaverse ~
NOT a romance! ~
Then this is a must-add to your collection.
Can I have book two now .. please
This book broke me, but in a good way. I feel like this author has been writing way longer then I realize because this was such a great book! I could barely put it down. The story was so dark and yummy that I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Kauler is so yummy and alpha to the bone. He wants Quinn so he just takes her. And that is pretty much the end of Quinn’s freedom. Quinn is an omega just trying to make ends meet and still keep her dignity. She takes suppressants that seem to fail right when she needs them the most. Of course Kauler doesn’t help! What do you do when your out of options? You run to a place you weren’t ever planning on going again. . .
I’m not going to lie, when the characters have problems and are tortured before they get there happily ever after it makes for such a great read for me. And this author does it so well! But be warned. This is a true DARK romance. So dark it is almost pitch black . . .
Wow…
Many Omegaverse books promise us darkness, but Eva delivers with devastating skill…
The characters are raw, relatable (some of them, some of them are ‘hate-able’), and so real that it’s easy to lose yourself in the story. You’ll also feel a heart wrenching cacophony of emotions.
What’s most horrifying and tragic about this story is how closely it mimics the everyday life of hundreds of thousands of people. That’s also the most artful and beautiful aspect of it. It’s so, so, REAL.
Eva’s Omegaverse is all her own. It’s dark, wretched, raw, and surprisingly sexy. I had a serious book hangover after this one, but it was definitely worth it. Looking forward to the next book!
Five stars is just not enough for this book!
I’ve been lucky enough through my blogging that every now and then an author contacts me and asks if I would read their new book. I’m always a little nervous that I’ll really not like it and have that awkward moment of wondering whether to slink quietly away or say something.
When Eva Dresden offered me an arc copy of Broken, promising a dark omegaverse read my greedy little soul couldn’t resist. I mean dark AND omegaverse, two of my most very favourite tropes/genres in a book. Anyway it was gone 11 pm where I was but I though, ‘go on, read the first chapter, see what it’s like’. Yes curiosity will not only be killing the cat!
So just gone 2 am, with gritty eyes and a huffing husband, I had to put the book down. Thankfully I started it at the weekend so as soon as I was awake the next day I got right back to reading. I ignored the housework, my husband and basic hygiene because OMG I had to finish this book.
Anyone who is a fan of Addison Cain needs to read this book. Seriously. It is on a par with her Alpha’s Claim series but is still very much it’s own book and world. A world that it dragged me into, a dark and sometimes violent world, a world of lies, deceit and heartache. Eva Dresden has an unusual writing style, both good and easy to read but also – hmm- slightly cloudy? It’s hard to put into words but it’s an implied and suggested style of writing, sometimes vague in detail which perfectly matched the confusion and bewilderment of Quinn. The writing perfectly matched the feel of the story, adding atmosphere, depth and emotion just at the point it was needed.
I just don’t have adequate words to do justice to this book. I have words, words like DARK, other words like AMAZING, and still further words like WOW, OMG OMG OMG I NEED MORE NOW. But those words don’t tell you how fantastic the writing is, how powerful and domineering the alpha’s are, how sweet and gentle, bloody but unbowed Quinn is. They don’t describe the emotions and feels I got from this story. The sadness of Quinn’s situation and treatment, the frenzy of the lustful rutting, the ‘you go girl’ at her inner strength, the terror of being powerless and the horror of out of control, uncaring, a-hole Alpha’s.
I’m not embarrassed to admit that this book made me cry. Well if we burrow down to the truth the mistreatment of Quinn and her brokenness made me sob. There are a whole heap of Alpha males who I would like to slowly torture before removing their genitals with a blunt, rusty table knife. Oh yes my lovelies it is one of THOSE reads.
Please if you know someone who loves dark omegaverse books let them know about this one, for no other reason than the fact that in their place I would want to know about it. There is no financial gain for me, just the knowledge that I’ve helped boost an amazing author to an audience that will love her work.
I thought I had a handle on dark….boy was I wrong. This story takes you down the darkest, dankest, most frightening alley of your mind and just drops you there. Leaves you with no protection, no happy, no chance of escape. It is there you meet Quinn. A solitary soul in need of a true friend and companion. Alas, there is no companionship to be found, just trouble to avoid and Alphas you try your best not to piss off. Unfortunately for our little Omega, the choices range between a rock and a Really Hard Place. You are drawn into Quinn’s world with a well written plot and memorable (if not very lovable) characters. The Alphas in her life control everything, the choices they offer are designed to force her into compliance at every turn. We are left hoping that there is a better future and someone out there who actually cares what happens to her. I can’t wait for book two.
