This book……….I laughed, I cried, and I celebrated. Definitely not your typical rock star romance. Broken Lyric is book 2 in the Meltdown series. This book was an emotional roller coaster with some true to life events that left me a mess. But this author found away to take the tragedies of every day life and turn them into a magical story. The resilience of the two main characters was to be applauded. Miss Hilliard has a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat and turning pages furiously to see what comes next. I highly recommend this series.
I need to make an appointment with a cardiologist because this freaking book was hard on my heart! It broke it, shocked it and mended it.
One night and a favor to her father changed Gillian’s life. An unwelcome return in his mother’s life changed Nash’s… Both experienced life changing moments due to their parent, when along came Rowan.
I absolutely loved this story. RB introduces new characters while interconnecting previous stories and loved characters. We get the main focus on our couple, but we also get glimpses of the other band members and glimpses into their lives…..and I honestly can’t wait for Chaz and Evan’s stories. But enough about the future, back to this story. There were more twists and dips in this story than on a roller coaster ride. There is a great romance but also suspense. Just when I thought things were settled BAM! I found Nash’s actions to be believable and understandable. He really was a great book boyfriend and son. I understood him feeling torn. While I understood Rowan’s choices, I did want to yell at her a couple of times. Of course, she didn’t listen to my screaming and warning, and then it was too late. I did guess what one part of the story was, but no way did I figure out where it was going to lead. I absolutely loved (and made note) of Mauve’s wishes for the back yard. The lyrics of the song when they all came together were awesome and perfectly incorporated. I could go on and on, but I don’t want to give anything away. You just need to read this and hold on for the ride
This book is second in an amazing series, and I hope for many more!
I absolutely loved this book
! Anyone who loves Rockstar Romance will adore this book! It’s full of all the steam I’ve come to expect from the author, as well as keeping you enthralled with all the things happening to the characters.
Nash has known a lot of heartache in his life. He has loved and lost. Now with his mother sick, his heart threatens to break yet again. Rowan has come to care greatly for Nash’s mother Meave as her caregiver, just as if she was her own mother. Like Nash though, Rowan knows a lot about be broken but she harbors those secrets closely.
Nash has a sarcastic but caring vibe and I knew I would love him from the beginning of Grant’s book so I was excited to finally get his story. You get very emotionally involved with what he is feeling. Rowan has that same caring personality and her and Nash flow so well together.
There is so many ups and downs throughout their whole story and secrets, so many secrets! I was honestly looking at the progress on my kindle the whole time; I was not ready for it to end. It was a constant feeling of, “Okay, they are fine now.”, and then releasing “No, they aren’t”. This is truly a roller coaster ride that will leave you realizing that you just completely left reality for the duration of the book. RB literally pulls you into the world of Meltdown and doesn’t let go till days after you have finished.
Then days later you are still saying, “Why? Chaz…” I am assuming that the Meltdown Drummer is up next and his ride is going to be even wilder than Grant or Nash.
You will need to read the first book, Fractured Beat, to fully understand Broken Lyric.
Broken Lyrics was an ok read. I was hoping for more with this series, but its turning out to be an alright rockstar series. I thought this book was going to be better than the first, but I’m left feeling a bit disappointed. Instead of loving Nash, I felt that this book focused too much on Rowen and not enough on Nash. I still feel like I don’t know him very well, but I know everything about Rowen. The connection between Rowen and Nash wasn’t quite convincing either. The story dragged on too long and had some unnecessary drama in my opinion.
The other thing that annoyed me about this book was how Grant was acting towards his bandmates and Nash and his feelings towards Rowen. Grant totally disregarded how his bandmates felt about Blaine and how he was acting. He constantly took Blaine’s side and acted like their voices didn’t matter until they find out some serious information. Grant also disregarded Nash’s concern over Rowen. Even if he wasn’t in love with her I didn’t feel it was Grant’s place to determine her worth and assume Nash was getting ahead of himself when Rowen goes missing. If the tables were turned and it was Mallory, Grant would be the same way. In the first book it was implied at how much Grant loved Nash’s mom, but he shows no concern over the fact she’s dying of cancer. So there were some things that just really annoyed me about the story.
But I will say that awesome jam session the band has where they had to perform cover songs that everyone shouted out was my favorite part of the book. I find each character interesting and find myself wanting to know their story, but I’m not all that excited to read the next book.
Nash & Rowan story was full of suspense as well as enough sexual tension to set the house on fire. Nash was so easy to fall in love with, just the perfect mix of alpha and sweetness. Their story will take you right along with them on an emotional roller coaster that you will not want to end.
The Meltdown series has sucked me in and I can not wait to read the next book, Fractured Beat and Broken Lyric were both so well done I can not wait to see what in is store for the brooding drummer.
Broken Lyric is the heartbreaking story of Nash and Rowen. Their tale is filled with secrets, lies, heartache , suspense and love! Their journey is not easy and their is so much going on that you need to take it in slowly! The characters were deeply developed and full of layers it was an amazing read!

Love the mystery “who done it” but good God this band is cursed. sweet story of Nash and Rowan/Gillian with quite a few twists. The tale could have been far more tortured and tragic, but always stayed on the right side of caution…. she ran after just one night of a bad date, which was a bit extreme. Then when it all went down, it could have been seriously bad … but never dove into the darkness that could have been brutal. Not sure why I wanted it to..but just felt like it could have been really bad. No one gets over that shit in 2 days.
Love the whole cast of characters. Each one brings something to the story line. not sure if I want to hear Chaz ‘s story (edit, loved Chaz’s story, read on!!), but Evan could be very interesting…And Hank, love me some Hank!
After all the turmoil and betrayal of the band by Luke in Book 1, Fractured Beat, the band was on a mini tour trying to bring up their image from all the bad press. Nash Bostwick is the lead guitarist of Meltdown. His mother Maeve was dying of cancer and the doctors hadn’t given her long to live. This tour was bad timing, but his mother wouldn’t see him quit the tour and Nash needed his music.
Rowan Burns was on the run from an evil man her father had all but sold her to. After her best friend had been killed, she had changed her name and appearance, moved to another state and was not working as a live in Oncology Nurse taking care of Maeve Bostwick.
This is a Rock Band Romance with an underlying plot that just keeps getting better and better as the series progresses. RB Hilliard not only gives her characters the personalities to interact with each other flawlessly but with such passion and emotions you will be sucked into the story until the ending. Just about the time I thought I had it figured out what was happening, the chain of events took a sharp turn and POW, I definitely didn’t see that coming. Thank you for another 5 star read!!
What a story!! I loved Rowan and Nash when I met them in Fractured Beat so I was excited to read their story. That poor couple were put through hell through this whole book but wind up getting their HEA. Makes me wonder what RB Hilliard will do to poor Chaz
Loved Nate and Rowen!! Scared to start there relationship for different reasons. And then they do tragity strikes that makes Nate run. Leading to more tragity.
I love the introduction of Evan and how he fits the band and I can’t wait for Chaz story boy has got to have an epic story!!
Broken Lyric focuses on Nash from Meltdown. His and Rowan’s story was intense and emotional! I love the drama and the suspense! The ending totally through me for a loop though! Loved it!!! Rowan is one tough chick and I love the relationship she had with Maeve. Evan is such a great addition to the group. I can’t wait to learn more about home. Love this series!!!
Way to play with a girls emotions…
Like seriously, this book needs to come with a warning label – BE PREPARED FOR EMOTIONAL OVERLOAD….HOT ROCKSTARS WITH LOTS OF ANGST, SUSPENSE, DRAMA, LOVE, HEARTACHE, SEXY TIME AND MORE!
I seriously don’t even know where to start with telling you how much I enjoyed Broken Lyric. It is 4am right now and I just read the end. My mind is still whirling around the book and what happened within the pages. I had to start writing my thoughts down so that they didn’t get lost. The first thought that comes to mind after reading Broken Lyric is LOVE and FAMILY. How circumstance of ones life does not define who you are. Nash and Rowan’s story nearly broke me. The angst was on point. The drama and suspense made me keeping turning the pages – did I not say it is 4am (bring on the coffee tomorrow). My heart ached. My heart cheered. My heart cried and damn towards the end of the book my heart was in my throat. Then don’t get me started when my mouth literally dropped wide open when everything came to light cause I so didn’t see that happening. 100% shocked. To me that’s what makes a book PERFECT. When I think I know “who done it” and I am shot down and it’s the complete opposite. Just sigh.
R.B. Hilliard, I’m still laying here in bed trying to wrap my head around Broken Lyrics. An absolute amazing read and it has been added to one of tops reads of 2018. I can’t wait for the next book.
Nash had to go on tour with what had been going on with Meltdown, but he’s mother was dying, and he didn’t want to, the only thing helping him was his mother’s sexy oncology nurse, Rowan. He’d hired Rowan a while ago and they had said he’s mother was in remission, but the cancer was back. Rowan was everything he wanted but wouldn’t allow himself to have. Nash learnt a while ago never to go through love again after the one person he loved died in an accident, and he never wanted to go through that again.
When returning home for Christmas and after attending a party with Rowen, Nash kisses her knowing she feels what is between then, they both know with their issues someone is going to get hurt.
Having an uneasy feeling Nash puts security in place at his house, wanting to ensure that his mother and Rowan are safe before returning to his tour.
After finally getting a free weekend he returns home knowing that his mother is worse, after taking his anger out on Rowan he apologies and kisses her again, which later they can’t deny the inevitable between them anymore.
Everything catches up with them suddenly, and their worlds fall apart, can Nash stop running away from what he feels for Rowan to help her when she needs him, so they can get their chance at happiness.
Broken Lyric by RB Hilliard a breath-taking five star read. This has been the hardest review I have ever written, it’s taken me days as I don’t think I can do the book justice with my words. RB Hilliard has out done herself with this second book in the Meltdown series, and I am not ashamed to admit that I am a Meltie. This is my all-time favourite RB Hillard book, I am a die-hard MMG series fan but Nash Bostwick has stolen my heart, and ran away with it.
Nash Bostwick is the lead guitarist of world famous band Meltdown, he has been there from the start, he has had his fair share of trouble like the rest of the band but sadly for Nash his is really just starting, Nash’s mum has faced the big C before and now faces it again, she has her nurse Rowan and that’s the only reason Nash feels he can leave his mum while he goes on tour, as he knows Rowan, not in the way he would like, but he feels strongly for her. But sadly, sometimes feelings aren’t enough.
Rowan Burns is a good nurse, and she would do anything for her patient Maeve and even though she thinks Nash is possibly the hottest man alive, (Who wouldn’t) she can’t admit her feelings as she has a secret that would bring her world crashing around her ears. When Roses start appearing whose secrets are coming out, hers or Nash’s?
This story will have you gripped from the beginning to the very last page, I sobbed my heart out when it was over. I couldn’t believe that I would have to wait for more Meltdown!! You get sucked into the world. If you buy one book this year, make it a RB Hilliard, possibly Fractured beat, as they you would have to buy this book, as you won’t be able to not when you get sucked into the Meltdown world.
THEY KEEP GETTING BETTER!!! What’s better than a hot rock star? How about an entire band full of sexy, bad ass rock stars. Broken Lyric is Nash and Rowan’s story. You can’t help but root for these two to finally stop fighting their attraction to one another. But once they do, tragedy strikes. R.B takes you down a road full of twists and turns, heartache and love. This is a great addition to the Meltdown series. I’m looking forward to reading Shattered Rhythm next.
Nash Bostwick has left me clutching my heart and has earned 5 amazing stars from me. The man just has everything you could possibly want or need in a strong yet soft alpha lead. I had shivers while he sang the words he had penned for Rowan, the words that only flowed when his emotions of grief, fear and love all collided. Something about a man strumming a guitar while vocalizing his feelings just opens my heart, puts a lump in my throat, and starts my the flow of my own emotions.
Here is a snippet of the beautiful words Nash sings, in context, they will melt your heart:
Love me now. Show me how, how to be enough.
Forgive me. Don’t forget me.
Please…please don’t let me.
Don’t let me.
Please…don’t let me go.
Don’t you f***ing let me go.
Love me now. Show me how. I promise I’ll be enough.
Please forgive me. Don’t forget to. I’ll forever let you.
Forever let you.
I’ll forever let you know.
That you are mine…my sweet Rowan.
Only mine.
And I will never let you go.
Broken Lyric is book 2 in the Meltdown series. You can get to know all the boys of Meltdown and start from the beginning with Fractured Beat, but if per chance you fall onto this book first there is nothing to worry about. The author has done a fantastic job filling in the blanks on all the past shenanigans of the boys. In my opinion, RB Hilliard really knows how to throw caution to the wind and comes up with amazing storylines that have you questioning everything and trusting no one. From chapter one, I was craving answers and trying to keep up with who-done-what; it was so much fun. From the beginning we set of on a course and veer off quite quickly in a whole new direction. The twists and turns in the lives of these characters shocked me and kept me guessing until the very end.
There are some real tear jerker moments in this book which totally brought me closer to the characters. RB deals with the very real emotions of death and grief and how they can impact your life and even if you’ve never gone through it yourself, you can’t help but feel every emotion as the characters do.
I totally loved this book; Nash is a heart-throb extraordinaire. He may take a while to recognize his own self-worth and come to terms with his feelings, but that is part of the charm of his character has he starts a budding romance with Rowan. I love the slow burn stories – the build-up is intense and makes the whole romance of relationship that much sweeter. Nash and Rowan are both masters of denial and avoidance, until they aren’t anymore; then the sparks fly. If you like a little sexy time peppered through your romantic suspense novel, RB is pretty good at that.
Joy, sorrow, denial, anger, suspense and full-on love are abound in this book. I smiled, I cried, I laughed, I felt – the sign of a good read is when it hits you deep, brings out all those emotions and leaves you wanting more. Broken Lyric was this and so much more for me. This series is so much more than romance, RB had me reading at every possible moment, the characters were constantly calling to me to come join them, begging me to read just one more page. I totally recommend this series to everyone. I can’t imagine a soul out there that won’t swoon at the beautiful soul that is Nash Bostwick.
WOW!! I dont think I put this book down. RB had on the edge of my seat the whole time. I can’t wait for book three.
Big tears!
Broken Lyric is one of my favorite books I’ve read. It is an emotional ride for sure. Its hard not to fall in love with Nash and Rowan as they find their happiness.
I think I loved Nash & Rowan’s story more than Grant & Mallory’s. This series just gets better with every book that I read in it. Nash is the lead guitarist of rock band Meltdown. When his Mom is dying from cancer he hires Rowan to nurse her while he is gone. The only problem is that he wants Rowan but he pushes her away to protect his heart. Unfortunately Rowan has running from a deadly man from her past. She knows she should move on again but she can’t because her heart is with Maeve and Nash. Nash may figure too late that he wants is Rowan… I love this story and the characters are so real. The story of Nash and Rowen builds slowly and naturally. The supporting characters are what really help this story along. Definitely a must read book and series. R.B. Hilliard has a hit with this series.
