Luna Rexroth is everyone’s favorite wallflower.
Sweet.
Caring.
Charitable.
Quiet.
Fake.
Underneath the meek, tomboy exterior everyone loves (yet pities) is a girl who knows exactly what, and who, she wants—namely, the boy from the treehouse who taught her how to curse in sign language.
Who taught her how to laugh.
To live.
To love.
Knight Cole is everyone’s favorite football hero.
Gorgeous.
Athletic.
Rugged.
Popular.
Liar.
This daredevil hell-raiser could knock you up with his gaze alone, but he only has eyes for the girl across the street: Luna.
But Luna is not who she used to be. She doesn’t need his protection anymore.
When life throws a curveball at All Saints’ golden boy, he’s forced to realize not all knights are heroes.
Sometimes, the greatest love stories flourish in tragedy.

“Always. Whenever. Forever,”
This review has taken a bit for me to write, not because I didn’t love the book, but because I adored it. And as much as I loved it, it gutted me. With every book LJ Shen writes, her craft gets more and more amazing. This book hit home with me because of events in my personal life, it floored me.
There were two Knight Coles. One was mine.
The other everyone else’s.
We’ve waited, it feels like forever, to see if Luna picks her Knight in shining armor, or another. This story did not disappoint. It was more than I could have thought it could be.
“He’d called me Moonshine every single day since. I called him nothing, because I didn’t speak. Maybe that’s how he knew, all those years later, that I’d lied—by omission. He wasn’t nothing. He was my everything.”
Be sure to read Pretty Reckless before you read Broken Knight. And if you can wait, read at least Ruckus to get even more background on the characters. You’ll understand the history of the characters and why their dynamics are the way they are.
Your only regret will be not reading this book. Seriously. Go One-Click. Now.
I had no expectations going into this book except that it was LJ Shen and she is an amazing writer! To top that off….when it involves THE Hotholes or their Totholes she pretty much spins magic!
Knight is my favorite Tothole, probably because his Daddy is my favorite Hothole BUT to top that off Rosie & Dean are my absolute FAVORITE Todos Santos couple! So that pretty much guaranteed him a spot in my heart forever!
The friendship between Knight and Luna is emotional, they can relate to each other on a level the other Totholes can’t. My heart was in my throat pretty much the entire book but MAN….I’d do it again in a flipping heartbeat! Every single moment spent reading, each tear, each angry word I threw at my kindle, the virtual tears and things thrown in my chats with friends! All of it was WORTH IT! This book is a MUST READ! This can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading all the books; it’s such a great series!
I love this author and this book!

Title: Broken Knight

Talk about page turner book! WOW what a book. This book was assigned for an online book club #bluntbombshellbookclub. If you’re looking for a heart wrenching, frustrating and happy ending book then you need to run to the kindle app or nearest book store. The writer takes you on an emotional rollercoaster where self struggles are had along with miscommunication and misguided perception. This book will have you pulling at your heart strings all along turning the page and yelling “what are you doingggggg!!” At the characters. in the end you hope the story goes on and you’re sad to close the book.

Ride or die
What an intensely emotional roller coaster this book was . It has everything ! Love, lust , angst , grief and trauma , disability, addiction and teenage stupid head ness (honestly I wanted to shake them a few time and say what the hell are you doing!) anyway… haha
Written beautifully and with heart I loved this book .
Knight and Luna come from tight knit families and a group of friends that clearly love and care about each other . Luna is a selective mute and knight is adopted with his adopted mum terminally ill. Together they try to navigate their strong connection (since birth), falling in love while being teenagers and facing many hurdles . They are best friends who are clearly meant to be together but need to do a lot of growing up first ! I loved it and definitely recommend reading it !
On a side note – I read this book as I kept seeing high reviews and feedback and it popped up on my newsfeed numerous times . This was my first book by this author and I went in blind . Although it was perfectly fine to read as a stand alone I did feel like I was entering a world that was starting somewhere way down the track – that I should know the characters and some of their history already . When I finished the book I realized that 1. This is book 2 in a series (oops ) and also 2. There is a series about the parents as well (I knew it!! ) so from here I will
Go right back to the beginning but I’m excited and willing to do that because this book was awesome !!!
The angst and heartbreak are overcome by their forever true love and hope. These characters were real and so easy to connect with. Broken Knight had all the feels we come to expect from Leigh Shen, she’s master of turning a group of young alpha males into the most desirable, sexy hunks you can imagine. I have loved all of Leigh’s books and they just keep getting better. This book is the next generation of her beloved “HOTHOLES” and believe me, these characters definitely follow in their parents footsteps. Nailed it Leigh!! Incredible!!
“Not all love stories are written the same way. Ours had torn chapters, missing paragraphs, and a bittersweet ending.”
Broken Knight is my first taste of the Sinners of Saints world and I can not figure out why I’ve waited so long to meet these characters. I consider myself a L.J. Shen virgin only reafing one book of hers previously and WOW am I speechless. This is one of the most profound, heart gripping, yet beautiful stories I have ever read. This story captivates your mind, while claiming your heart piece by tiny piece. Broken Knight is a beautifully carved web of angst, destruction, and love. This story hit home with me on so many heart gripping moments. Having known the same pain and loss of losing a parent I can truly say I connected with its characters on a deeply touching level. I will be the first to admit I CRIED. Like a baby. ALOT! This story was just what I needed right now and I am so glad I gave it a chance. Luna and Knight will FOREVER hold a special place in my heart. They are one of the most imprefectly perfect couples I have ever read. Their story was as dark as it was beautiful. The love this couple shares is what every love story should be based on. I have never been so utterly consumed by characters quite like these two. Make no mistake when I say that Luna and Knight will haunt your mind long after their story ends.
“Moonshine,” he whispered. “You fill up the empty, dark space—like the moon owns the sky. It is quiet. It is bright. It doesn’t need to be a ball of flame to be noticed. It simply exists. It forever glows.”
Luna is seriously a freaking bada*s y’all! Did I hate her character at times, yes. Did I love her character at times, yes. Luna was a never ending door of change. She kept me on my toes from start, to end. I admired everything about her character. She is truly one of the strongest heroines I’ve read. Whatching her develop and grow throught Broken Knight was a heart breaking as it was beautiful. You watched her go from the naive, why girl. To spit fire, head strong women. I admired Luna’s ability to own not only to own this book, but herself.
“Half-dead and hospitalized or not, Knight Jameson Cole looked like every girl’s wet dream and her daddy’s nightmare.”
Knight was frustrating as he was captivating. Something about them bad boys always seems to make a person fall harder. I wanted to strangle Knight as much as I wanted to love him. He takes love, hate to a whole nother dimension. I knew every word out of his mouth would either break my heart, or make me cringe. Knight was a walking contradiction of vulnerability. His character demands every your attention. Stopping at nothing to claim your soul. All the while the broken knight burried under all that armor owns heart.
“Our love always had a pulse. Sometimes it was faint. Sometimes it was beating so hard I couldn’t hear anything else. But it would never die. It can’t. I won’t let it.”
*5 STARS*
Well earned for one of the most devastatingly beautiful love stories I have EVER read! Would i recommend this book? The answer is hands down YES! Broken Knight is hands down going in my best reads of 2019 folder.
Broken Knight broke me. I took me a week to read/listen to this book. I jumped between listening to the incredible audiobook and reading it. I love LJ shen as an author. How she develops a story, the connections of everyone. It’s like going home.
I got so upset with how Knight and Luna acted to each other…. I had to remember that they really are only teenagers. But I cried the last 25% of the book. It was so beautifully written. Rosie and Dean and Knight and Luna….omg….. amazing.
Life is hard everyday, things happen, we deal with it, how we deal with the people in ours lives is our choice. Those that love you, love them back, keep love, honesty, support and friendship in the center of all relationships. That is what I walked away with from reading Broken Knight…… even those Hotholes can teach us something. They love hard!
OMFG…..LJ Shen destroyed me with this book and I’m not sorry in the least bit! I didn’t just cry……Nope, it was a full-on blubbering ugly cry that completely wracked my body. I was unprepared for it because I refused to read any reviews or spoilers. Nonetheless, I stayed up late into the night unable to put this book down, bawling my eyes out. It was a beautiful thing. Shen wrecked me and then healed me. It was perfection!
Knight and Luna were destined to be together from the day they were born. These two tortured souls who suffered so much shared an intense connection with one another. But they tortured one another over the years as they denied their feelings. Knight surprised me in so many ways. He was not what I expected in some ways but the stereotypical a$$hole football player in others. He wielded his power in ways that aimed to hurt others to save himself. His home life was far from perfect and that completely devastated me. Luna….she was always an enigma. This quiet, introspective girl who wouldn’t speak totally blew my mind. I loved the friendship they formed–it was like no other and that’s what truly set these two apart. As they grew up, their relationship turned angsty and emotional, almost to the point of love-hate. Shen threw so many bumps and landmines in their relationship, often completely surprising me by taking the story in a different direction. Their story was one that I didn’t want to put down.
Broken Knight reads as a complete standalone but please do yourself a favor and read all of the Sinners of Saint books as well as the first book in the All Saints High series prior to reading this story. The history with all of these characters is incredibly rich and all of them show up in full force in Broken Knight. This book has pivotal scenes that define the story and prior reading will truly enhance your experience. Trust me….read all of the Sinners of Saint first, but if you’re only going to read one, make it book 3, Ruckus because it’s the precursor to Knight’s story and involves his parents, Dean and Rosie.
Broken Knight is everything I hoped it would be and more. It’ll suck the life out of you and leave you completely wrung out. You’ll ugly cry but Shen will heal you slowly and the payoff is completely worth the angst. This beautifully poignant story is one you do not want to miss. 5 stars
“I wanted to zip open my skin and tuck her into me. Hide her from the world and keep her mine.”
Wow!!!! This book has my emotions bouncing around like a ball being shot through a pinball machine.
“When you refuse to pay your dues to love, sometimes the price goes up. There’s an inflation, and you end up losing more than you’d bargained.”
Sometimes the way we see things playing out or the way we plan to handle things isn’t how reality takes place. Sometimes we hurt others, ourselves, misunderstanding from both sides take place, secrets and internal struggles play a role.
“I’m not your home. People don’t ruin their homes; they build them. They cherish them.”
This book will have you laughing, crying, frustrated, joyful, sympathetic and possibly cheering for a little revenge. Some heavy subjects are broached. You really feel like you are experiencing these life altering situations. Your heart will go through the wringer.
“The grudges you hold against people? Drop them. They’re not worth your anger. They keep you anchored to a place you shouldn’t be.”
I’m in love with these characters…I want more of them! Somehow I didn’t realize Pretty Reckless is part of the All Saints High series so I’m diving into that next!
L.J. – WHAT……HAVE…..YOU…..DONE….TO….ME?!? With each book you have written in the HotHole/TotHole universe I have become more and more vested in the world of these beautiful, ugly, broken, wonderful, gloriously unapologetically real people. Knight Jamison Cole is no exception. He is broken, cruel and selfish but also painfully loving, protective and loyal. Then we have Luna. His Moonshine. His life. His addiction. His everything. Watching their story unfurl was both infuriating, but also beautiful. Thank you L.J. for allowing me a glimpse into their world and into their love story. 5 stars!
SPEECHLESS! I’ve never had a book leave me absolutely speechless. L.J. Shen continues to show us why her writing is unmatched and so magnificent, I’m still in the clouds up in literature la la land trying to gather my bearings. She continues to outdo herself with every new book she releases. Luna and Knight’s story will go down in history as one of the best stories ever told. I got EVERY! SINGLE! FEEL! ones I didn’t want and ones I didn’t know I needed. This book left me in heartbreakingly beautiful pieces, not sure if and when I will recover from this amazing story. Although a fictional story, love stories like this is what real life is made up of.
So sad but so good. I loved it!
Let me start with that I got my small glimpse of #Vuna! It was small but so worth it! This story isnt your typical oh you know what’s going to happen next book! NO! Leigh drags our emotions through every book and cranny she can think of only to have you scrambling for a box of tissues! Nothing about this was expected except for the very end. Knight is struggling through Rosie being sick and with his love your Luna. Luna is struggling with the fact her mom left her. Two absolutely different people that grew up together and go through different paths in life to end up right where they are meant to be. I know my review will not give this book justice because I cant put into words what this book did to me. Only two books before have brought me to tears and Lunight had me in hysterics. 5 stars Leigh!!! You are amazing.
As always L.J. Shen writes with so much emotion and knows what her readers want. I was a mess reading this book, I seriously had a love hate with the male lead, but it was all good because I knew what to expect of Knight and a child of a hot hole. The men in her stories are always damaged, full of angst, mad a the world of someone. But they are also vulnerable, mostly to the one women who just gets them. It can be read as a stand alone, but I would recommend reading at least the first book in the series to get some perspective of Knight and Vaughn, Luna isnt so much in the first book. However to get a better understanding of Knights parents, I would at least read their book in the Sinners of Saint series, because I feel everyone should know Dean and Rosie.
Broken Knight follows Luna Rexroth and Knight Cole, who grew up together, are neighbors, and just get each other. Ride or Die they say to each other. However Luna has been a “mute” since her birth mother left when she was a baby. Luna can talk but chooses not to because of her past. Knight is her protector her best friend and also wants her. Both over the years battle their emotions, battle their demons and also deal with the heartbreaking reality of parents who love them and abandon them.
This story will bring out the push and pull of your heart, you will love and hate the choices these two make over the course of the book. They will frustrate you with how much miscommunication their is, but its raw and real and they both have so much growth from so much pain. Prepare yourself to fall for these characters just like you fell for their parents.
“Always. Whenever. Forever”
2019 Favorite!
Book hangover alert!
There’s good books. Great books out there.
Then there’s books like this, all-consuming, breath-snatching, heart-thumping, epic stories that slither into heart, leaving you changed in a way a phenomenal book should. I can’t possibly leave a review worthy. If you’re going to read a book today, this month, this year, this one should be at the top of your list! Carve out a full day to fully immerse yourself, because you will not want to put this one down!
“Always. Whenever. Forever.”
Broken Knight is beautiful and heartbreaking. It will take you on an emotional climb, staggering at times, until you finally free fall. Once you realize where Ms. Shen will take you, the devastation begins. Stories are woven together. Lives and previous storylines intermingle; the past, the present and the future.
“Love is selfish. Love is raw. Love is unfair, and unpredictable, and unstoppable.”
There were times (too many) when I wanted to pummel Knight! He is the definition of TotHole! He exhibits so much raw emotion and pent up anger. And then there is Luna, oh Luna. She is so unique. So fragile and precious down to her soul. Ms. Shen let us see Luna’s fears, her worries and her angst. They play on a loop like a movie. How will she ever conquer them?? Luna’s backstory had me crying my eyes out.
“If you think you’ve found something good without anything bad in it, it just means you haven’t examined it close enough.”
Broken Knight will stay with you days after you are finished. I love when a story brings out all of the “feels” and emotions! Don’t read the reviews. Don’t get any spoilers. Sit back and embrace the ride that is Broken Knight! Bravo Ms. Shen. Bravo!
“The heart doesn’t ask for permission to feel things. It simply feels.”

One of the greatest books that I’ve read all year!!
At first i had a hard time getting in to this book about half way through this story it was getting emotional intense and had me crying and laughing and crying throughout the ending of this book. The emotions were hard and strong and I could feel the energy from the words that flowed off the pages. This is amazing read that will have you on a ride of highs and lows throughout this book.
Luna suffered a trauma which leave her not speaking, all the time Knight has been by her side. Everyone thinks that they will end up together, but each time Knight has tried he’s been rejected, he can’t take it anymore.
Luna decides it’s best to move away Knight is never going to be hers. Returning home for the holidays Luna learns things, but most of all she learns that the things she saw were only a deception, how Knight wanted to hurt her like she hurt him.
They move past the hurt, but Luna made a promise that she knows she has to keep, to help her Broken Knight she has to walk away and hope he comes back.
