I Love this book! From tears to happy sobs!!
“Always. Whenever. Forever.”
Okay, I’ll admit it. Knight and Luna got to me. I loved how he wasn’t a typical jerk high schooler like the rest of the books (okay, he was somewhat a jerk, but not overly so) and Luna was not a stuck-up rich cheerleader type of girl.
Even so… the stuff that Knight did pissed me off. The middle of the book was hard for me to read. I get that these are high school kids but fuck… learn to communicate. If Knight wouldn’t have let Luna believe everything he did about the girls he messed around with in high school, maybe she wouldn’t have had such a hard time admitting her feelings? Maybe if he admitted what he felt for her, she wouldn’t have done what she did with Josh. BOTH were to blame, and both screwed up bad. It all could have probably been avoided.
That being said…. the ending redeemed itself and I finished the book with a smile on my face. I liked this book the most out of this author’s books.
3 stars
I didn’t like this book as much as the 1st one and most of that has to do with Knight being a total a$$. I was actually routing against him and Luna getting together for most of the book. He treated her and most everyone else (except his mom) like crap. I will read the next one but I hope the author does better with Vaugn.
Read at your peril and make sure you have lots of tissues to hand!
Broken Knight broke me into pieces. I’ve never cried so much in my life. Must read the Sinners of Saint and All Saints High to get the full effect. It’s a roller coaster ride.
Another great book by LJ Shen!!!
I wasn’t ready for this. I’ve read every book by this author. From past books (ruckus) I already knew that knights mother Rosie was ill. And i was scared of what was to come.
Knight and Luna (trents daughter; scandalous) grew up together. He was always her protector. Luna is mute by choice. She’s not like the other girls in todo santos. Knight is football star and the most popular boy in school. He’s also in love with Luna who refuses to admit she truly in love with him too. After sometime apart they find their way back together. But when knight overdoses after finding out rosie is in a coma and doesn’t have much time Luna ends things with knight. Per rosies request to get her son to straighten up his act. Will there be together in the end? Read it and find out. It’s worth the emotional ride!
Holy whack. WHERE ARE THE TISSUES
What an emotionally charged story!!! I had warned to get ready for some sobbing, and they were spot on. This would be my favourite LJ Shen story yet, and I owe most of that to Knight Cole.
This story follows childhood best friends – Knight and Luna. They have been best friends basically their whole lives, and have gone through many ups and downs together. The biggest down they go through is their undoubted feelings for each other.
It’s clear from the start – these two were destined to be together. The chemistry, bickering and friendship is like no other. But when Knight has to face something in his family life he never wanted to face, that is when the true strength of their relationship is tested.
I must say, when *something* happens to Knight, I got angry Luna wasn’t there for him. But. I also understand Luna was trying to be strong for not just herself and him, but their whole family.
This is the 2nd book in the series All Saints High.
I loved this book so so so much!!!
I couldn’t wait to read Knight and Luna’s story.
Reading these books gave me goosebumps all over me.
I was so heartbroken in the middle, I literally cried reading the scenes.
I really loved the way story line developed.
It made it interesting to read.
The author put thought and efforts into writing the perfect story for the characters.
It was almost to the point of bringing them to life.
She gave meaning and purpose to the characters.
Even the secondary characters had a huge impact on how the story played out.
But my most favorite was Rosie’s scenes. They were beautifully heartbreaking that even while thinking about it to write this review makes me tear up. I really hope Dean is still going to live his life to the fullest.
Knight is a broken soul who can only be put back together by HIS Luna.
Luna is small and timid but then is also a force to be reckoned with when it comes to her family and the people she loves.
The love between Knight and Luna was clear as day.
The epilogue in the end made me jump for joy because you could see how they wanted to view their past and future as. They didn’t want to regret their choices. They didn’t want their past to dictate their future.
Broken Knight is one of those books that I will never forget.
It’s one of those books that someone will not regret reading.
It has everything I want and much much more.
The drama, the passion, the angst, the emotion, the love.
All these things combined made this book an unforgettable read.
I’ve never had my heart broken. Never. Not until I read this book. I stayed up for 12 hours reading this book non stop and found myself red faced and crying at 4am on a week night with this book in my hands. Luna and Knight are everything to me, and they always will be. This story broke my heart and almost immediately stitched it back up. Nothing could have prepared me for this book. Nothing. Broken Knight combined heartache and happiness into approximately 360 pages. Their story was so painful but that’s what made them so much more special.
Ugh! I’m in love with this story!! I read it such a long time ago and just realized I never put in a review for it! The connection and chemistry between Knight and Luna was off the charts!! Such a great STORY, too, with ups and downs, ins and outs, jealousy, and angst… all the feels! HIGHLY recommend!
Damn, Leigh you have broken me!!!….
First off, this book is sad!! I hate sad stories, may it be fiction or real-life. I don’t read sad stories, I don’t read newspapers or magazines, I don’t even listen to the news because I don’t like sad stuff! BUT don’t let that put you off…
Yes this book is sad, so sad I cried, I actually sobbed at one stage and I’m welling up just thinking about it! BUT this book was one of the best written stories I have ever read.
Spoiler coming – although it’s not really a spoiler because you know this will happen back in the Sinners of Saints series where you get the parents stories! (Excellent reads!!) Anyway – Rosie, Knights mum dies! And the way this story is written, the way it unfolds and all comes together, the days/weeks coming up to Rosie’s last breath – completely shattered and destroyed me!
So yes, this is sad and yes it made me cry my ‘lil broken heart out and yes I hate sad stories…I still say read it! Luna and Knights story is one to be shared and enjoyed. They get their happy ending, they get their dream and they get happiness, they just have to go through hell first!!…
5 stars isn’t enough!!
spoiler alert
I loved this book and it made me cry so freaking hard ! it was really hard to finish this book because it hits so close to home and stuff that i have been going though in my own life ,i like to read books because it allows me to escape my own reality but with everything that happens in this book that was really hard .
OMG Knight is such a great guy and i totally don’t understand how Luna keeps friendzoning him ,like come on i know i don’t how that kind of will power ,I love that he protects Luna and he makes her feel safe ,i totally get why he let people make up stuff about him and other girls ,he felt unwanted by Luna and he didn’t want her to know how much her rejection hurt him ,i love that Luna is there for him when his mother gets really sick and i thought it was great that she helps him overcome his addictions m Knight is such a realistic character ,everything he goes though in this book is how alot of people would react ! i was crying so hard when his mom died , My own my was sick and passed away and it was so hard to go through that and then reading about Knight really made it all come flooding back and it was hard to finish this book i’m not gonna lie but it was still such a beautiful heartbreaking book.
I love Luna and it was so great to see her come into herself ,she learned alot and finally is able to let Knight in ,even though it hurts ! she fights for him and i loved that ,he was alwasy their for her and now it;s her turn to be there for him with everything he is going through with his mom and his drinking ,their story is sad and beautiful and i was rooting for them the whole time , they were made for each other 🙂
I loved that we got a little bit of Rosie and Dean in this book ,reading their chapters was heartbreaking and it made me feel all the feelings!
L.J. Shen is fast becoming one of my favs and i can’t wait to read the next book in this series and all her other books ! she makes characters that you can’t help but fall in love 🙂
L.J. Shen has officially ruined me for other authors. Especially when she writes heroes that are big-hearted and sexy, but also tortured and flawed. Broken Knight was everything. It was full of drama, tragedy, angst, steaminess, and a perfect love that was as messy as it was beautiful. Plus, it has one of my favorite tropes. The one that is about as common as a unicorn sighting. I was unbelievably excited about it!
Luna is so incredible, too. She is smart and beautiful and has the best soul. Yet, she is also a force to be reckoned with. And I didn’t think it was possible, but I love Rosie even more now. As a mother she has become an even more admirable woman.
CAN’T GET ENOUGH!!!
Knight and Luna are everything!! I am so obsessed with this series as I was the Sinners of Saint series. Every book I read is just amazing and I am forever nursing a book hangover!
I was nervous about reading this book because of Rosie. She is such a wonderful character. I also became worried about Knights character as he was going down a very dark path.
There certainly is a lot of pain and heartache in this story. It is very emotional.
Luna had a lot of go through too and it was wonderful to see her character blossom to its full potential. She overcame alot of hurdles and broke out of her bubble.
I also have to say…. FUCKING JOSH!!!!
4.75 stars
No one was exaggerating when they said that this book broke them and made them ugly cry (although I held my tears because I wasn’t alone) because this book had gutted me. Like literally my stomach was in knots and pain because of how this book destroyed me but also mended me. It was such an emotional roller coaster of a book!!!
We follow our main couple, Knight Cole (Dean and Rosie’s adopted son) and Luna Rexroth (Trent and Edie’s daughter). Both of them are childhood friends and reading about them at a young age was very heartwarming with some bittersweet moments to it. But angst comes in when they are at their teens and no one was kidding when they said that this book is the most angstiest (not sure how to spell it as I’m writing this review) book they ever read and it includes me.
The romance was amazing and it exceeded my expectations. Friends to lovers is my all time favorite troupe and Leigh did a fantastic job with it!!!! Knight and Luna belong to each other since they were born and I love the concept of soulmates that Leigh had written in this book. Knight is Luna’s sunshine and Luna is Knights moonshine and it’s just beautiful. Throughout the whole book I wanted them to JUST GET TOGETHER ALREADY and my heart broke every time whenever there was miscommunications between them. But as the story progresses many emotional things happen and the way they support one another is just everything to me.
Knight is a broken boy because of what his family is going through (and if you’ve read Ruckus you will get what I mean) and it really breaks my heart whenever I continue reading on in his point of view, especially since the reader knows that the time is coming (and it will break you). Although I was ready for it (or thought I did), reading THAT part broke me into tears (and I don’t cry that often). Because of that, he struggles with addiction, both alcohol and pills which leads him down into a spiral and I just wanted him to heal and be happy and that’s how Luna steps in!!!
Luna, my sweet poor baby!!!! Because she was abandoned by her biological mother (Edie is her loving stepmom and whom Luna considers her as her real mother), she doesn’t talk and what I always wanted for her is to talk and be free (read this book to know if she does or not). She is and introvert who follows the rules and is always being protected by her family and their friends but Knight protects her the most and it’s just so sweet. But despite that, she is a badass and a tough cookie as Penn said in Pretty Reckless.
The relationship between them and their parents were both heartbreaking and heartwarming. The Coles are just amazing (especially with their hugs) and it just pains me that they were going through a different and dark time in their lives. Rosie and Dean will always stay in my heart and nothing will be able to change that!!!! Knight is a mama boy and I love his relationship with Rosie. I have many feels for their moments together. My heart broke for Dean. He has a lot on his plate and because of that, we see parts of where the father and son don’t get along very well and I just can’t!!!
Knight and Lev (Dean and Rosie’s biological son and Knight’s younger brother), although we didn’t get a lot of scene between them, the little moments we had of them together was just everything and I hope that Leigh will be able to write more stories in this world (I need a Lev x Bailey love story)!!!!
I wished we got more time to read more about the Rexroths because Edie x Trent were my top three favorite couple in the Sinner of Saints series. But even though they didn’t appear as much as the Coles, I drank every moments between them.
Trent is bae and I love his going psycho and defending his daughter when Knight was being an ass (you know which scene I’m talking about if you’ve read it). But there was one particular scene between him and Luna that puts a huge emotional smile on my face and I kept rereading that part because it’s just beautiful.
Edie is what I always knew her, strong, no-nonsense, loving and caring. I love how her relationship with Luna improved a lot more in this book (they both did get along really well in Scandalous) and it just made my heart very happy.
Racer (Luna’s brother and Edie is his biological mom) didn’t appear much in it but one scene between him and Luna was just cute to read and I can imagine him growing up to be a nice, naughty, rascal boy. I hope we get a Racer x Tempest (Bane x Jesse’s daughter) love story because that would be amazing and hopefully we get more Rexroth page time in addition to more Bane x Jesse because I miss them so much.
I also love the friendship in this book. Vaughn (Knight’s cousin and best friend) is just what I would expect of a Spenser. He is a great combination of his parents Vicious and Emilia and I am looking forward to reading his book next!!! The dynamic between him and Knight is just hilarious because as Daria said in Pretty Reckless, they are both fire and ice and it is hilarious to read.
I also love how the relationship between Daria and Luna is improving a lot more and I AM HERE FOR BADASS FEMALE FRIENDSHIP!!!!!!! The way that Daria helped Luna make Knight jealous when he was with Poppy was just gold, reckless, savage and ruthless!!! Not surprised because it’s Daria!!!!
Even the friendship between Vaughn and Luna was great. And funny. Okay mostly funny because of their own savage way (mostly Vaughn) to make Knight jealous (on Luna’s side) and getting back at Knight for doing something that pissed Vaughn off (Vaughn’s side).
We also get introduced to new characters. Hunter Fitzpatrick, who is best friends with Knight and Vaughn and honestly I am looking forward to reading his book after reading Vaughn’s, Poppy and Lenora Astilas.
I gotta say, although Lenora did not appear as much, I love her character and the banter between her and Vaughn is just everything. They are both dark (not just nature wise but they also wear black), assholes, and artists and I am so very excited to read their hellish gothic love story!!! I have great confidence that it would be the most epic hate/enemies to lovers type of story and I am here for it!!!!
Many reviews mention that they hated Poppy because she was clingy to Knight and annoying and she while I can see where they’re coming from, I didn’t hate her as much as many did. She is a nice person and while her clingy-ness is questionable, I am not going to judge until I read more about her in the next book since Lenora is the main character and love interest so I’m expecting many sisterhood scenes similar to Emilia and Rosie. I do hope that in the future that we would also get a Poppy book because she is an interesting character.
And of course, I finally get to know about the legendary FUCKING JOSH !!!! Honestly I was laughing by the way Knight calls him. But honestly? I liked Josh and I think he is such a nice, decent guy, but all that said, I still wanted Luna and Knight together.
The ending (and I mean the epilogue) was everything!!!!! Knight and Luna will always stay a place in my heart and I recommend everyone reading it!!!!
The only negative thing I would say is that there are times where Knight was being a hypocrite and I was honestly annoyed by that but was very thankful that Luna did not let him get away with it. In addition to that, there were some parts which annoyed me about Luna because she would get herself in a situation where everything could be solved by just COMMUNICATING (sign language is one of them).
All in all, this book exceeded my expectations and it will say close to my heart for a very very long time (maybe even forever who knows).
This book was all about emotion. Broken Knight pulls so many different emotions. Luna and Cole knew that they were destined to be together. Knight fell in love with Luna from the beginning. Due to a misunderstanding and the “help” or push from Von they went their separate ways. Luna left to go to college and tried to move on. She realizes the mistake she made and when Knight found out he tried to get back at Luna and everything snowballed from there. Knight was dealing with so much with Luna leaving and his mother dying that he turned to alcoholic and drugs. Unbeknownst to Knight Luna helped Knight’s mom by writing her final letters to her family and told Luna how Knight and even her husband, Dean, might react and that she was hoping that she could help them both with their grief. The question then come up will Luna and Knight’s love bring them together or are they outgrowing it and each other? Will Knight get the help he needs to beat his addiction to alcohol? How will the family cope after Rosie dies? I will leave those question for you to answer for yourself. This book had me in tears and kept on hoping and trying to urge Luna and Knight to open their eyes and shouting inside No!!! when Luna and Knight split and Luna wet away to college. I also wanted to tell off Von with his “help” as I felt he went about it all wrongs in my humble opinion anyway. But Von wasn’t wrong in that Luna needed to find herself and strength and she couldn’t depend on others her whole life. Von felt that if Luna didn’t get stronger then she wouldn’t fit with Knight. Anyway, I loved this book and highly recommend it. You won’t be sorry if you do go ahead and read it.
Knight Cole is head over heels for the girl next door and wants to be her ‘Knight’ in shining armor. Ever since they were kids he has always been there to save and protect her. But she keeps refusing his advances and he decides that he’s tired of feeling rejected and decides to quit pursuing her, but deep down he knows she is the only one he really wants.
Luna Rexroth wants one boy, the boy next door. She has struggled for years with being called a freak and trying to find her place in the world. When she leaves for college, she comes out of her shell and eventually she gets what she needs to heal and speak her truth. She no longer needs the protection she once needed.
Oh, my heart… Knight Cole. Sweet, broken Knight. He lives up to the title of this book. He truly is broken. He goes through so many things in this book that you can’t help but be broken right alongside him and forgive him for the mistakes he made. He hides behind humor and pretends that everything is okay, when really he is spiraling down and down. Luna makes mistakes throughout this book as well, but she is perfect for Knight. She is there for him at a time in his life where he needs her the most and when he’s hit rock bottom. Their relationship is adorable and they are one of my favorite couples!! I felt every emotion in this book. I laughed, I cried, I was heartbroken, and happy.
“It started with an abandoned toddler in a soiled diaper, but the plot twist was a boy with busted knuckles and a heart of gold …”
I really didn’t know what to expect from this book. What I knew was that L. J Shen never disappointed me before so whatever she would do with Knight and Luna’s story would be great. And I wasn’t wrong. In my previous reviews of L. J Shen’s books, I always write how amazing she is and how talented. I try no to repeat myself but it is hard not to mention it every time I read her work.
Broken Knight is another masterpiece in the arsenal of her best stories. It is about embracing life as it is, enjoying what you have. No looking back, regret nothing, live here and now. About how there is always light in the dark that will lead us through it. About two lost teenagers who are learning about who they really are and how to deal with what life has thrown at them. It was a very emotional story. At the same time, I was heartbroken, full of joy, love, and hope for a better future for all characters.
It was hard to watch the journey Knight had made. His struggle and self-destruction that made him so devastating broken. He was drowning in the darkness and the only light that could bring him back was his Moonshine, his Luna. Luna who always depended on him and her family. But to be with Knight she needed to be stronger, to be his equal. And this time, it was beautiful to watch how she changed, how she become independent and strong enough for both of them.
I loved their relationship from the beginning. Friendships so strong nothing could break it. No matter what happens they always have each other.
Again, I have no idea what to expect from Vaughn’s story. Or I think I know, but with L.J Shen anything can happen. And I love this feeling. I really really REALLY can’t wait for another book.
LJ Shen floored me with this book about 2 broken people.
A mute girl, who chose not to speak and a broken boy. Their lives entwined, a love that grew as they grow. Thru heartache, madness, and (the only way I can put it) rebirth – LJ wrote this heart wrenching tale of growing up, growing into love and dealing with so many tough in between perfectly.
If I could give more than 5 stars I would without a flinch because I know I will be reading this again.
