Very deep emotionally and heart breaking and nail biting at times, but a great story if you don’t mind crying at times. The ending will make you smile.
I loved to hate this book if that makes any sense! I loved the characters, every single one (except the bad guys obviously)! I felt so bad for everything she went through and yet I loved how she developed over the course of the book.
There is a warning before the blurb…pay attention to it, because it is no joke! The author portrayed the ugly truth behind child abuse and domestic violence in vivid color. Saying Bailey had a rough life right out of the gate is probably putting things mildly. It was a hard read and there are triggers galore. It was heartbreaking, awful, gut-wrenching and sad…There is an HEA of sorts at the end…but the book was still so sad and depressing. Not sure if I will pick up the next one in the series or not.
Contemporary Romance. Dark. Triggers. Background of Abuse. Runaway. Heroine is on the run from her abusive husband, finds a friendly town in OH when her cash runs out. Meets the hero at a bar she’s trying to get a job at. You’ll probably cry.
Wow an amazing 5 star story this was. This story sucked me in so deep that I had a difficult to let go. It’s an highly addicting story.
If you’ve seen the movie Sleeping with the Enemy and loved it, well you will love this story. Actually this story is much better. I got to feel what Bailey felt, maybe not fully understand what she was going through but I definitely felt for her. This story is not for the tendered hearted because there are scene that were difficult to read. I do admire this author for not shying away from this subject because it does happen.
Amazing characters that latched themselves to my heart, body, mind and soul. This story was enticing and suspenseful. I never knew what would happen. I was kept on the edge of my seat. This was Bailey’s and Jaxon’s story. I’m about to start Mia’s and Mac’s. I can’t wait to dive in now.
This is the first story in the The Jaded Stories. Told mostly in Bailey’s POV with a kickass HEA. I strongly recommend this story.
Holy moly this woman can write dark, heart and sole destroying stories. Stories that make you feel, that drag you into the world of pain the characters are in. This book put my heart through the wringer time and time again. The book takes you on such an emotional journey of epic proportions that it will leave you feeling batter and bruised, just like Bailey!
Domestic violence is always a hard topic to write but this authors writing had you feeling every bit of the fear and pain that Bailey went through. Many authors will write about dark subjects but there’s not many can that build that level of emotion into their words. Not once did I feel it was over exaggerated.
This book needs to be read but for some it may contain strong triggers so proceed with caution.
3.5 stars
I found this book through an excerpt in the author’s page. I was so intrigued by it that I had to read it soon.
This story was a roller coaster, so full of raw emotions and sometimes it took me a moment to assimilate what I was reading.
I love the H, so protective and sweet, but very manly. The h was a bit too sensitive at times, I felt her pain but I’d like her to defend herself more.
The last part was surprising, and the epilogue simply beautiful.
