I don’t have time for little Lucy Rhodes. I’m a former Marine, a ranch owner, and if my sister is to be believed, a hermit. Since I returned to my small home town, I’ve spent every waking moment turning my family’s ranch into a resort. The absolute last thing I need is a blonde complication. But then Lucy comes to town for the summer. She’s running from demons of her own, and somehow, she runs … and somehow, she runs straight into me.
She awakens something in me that I thought gone.
She’s young and beautiful, sure, but it’s more than that. She doesn’t look at me like I’m damaged. She listens when I speak, and when she opens up to me, I know I want to spend my life protecting her.
But as we grow closer, one thing feels inevitable… I’m going to let her down somehow, just like I’ve let everyone in this town down. I don’t know how to be the man she deserves.
I’m not the man I once was.
(Broken Hero is a slow-burn romance with swoon-worthy characters and tons of small-town charm.
Stand-alone, no cheating and HEA-guaranteed!)

Olivia Hayle wrote a good novel, had me interested from the word go. Got to the stage where I didn’t want to put it down til I finished it. Will look for another one by this author.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. This is Oliver and Lucy’s story. Ex marine owns a ranch meets Lucy and over time she changed him but will that help with his PTSD the twists and turns hot and steamy like a rollercoaster ride of emotions that makes you want more with the chemistry and romance.

Broken characters are at the top of my favorites list, and Oliver is standing proud at my #1 favorite! I loved this story, and all the characters, watching Lucy pull Oliver out of his self imposed exile was so much more than reading a story, it like watching a movie play out in my head. There was nothing about this story that I didn’t fall in love with, highly recommend it to lovers of broken characters, small town romances, and a happily ever!
I recently discovered Olivia Hayle and was very excited to read an ARC of this book. “Broken Hero” is a wonderful read. I fell in love with Oliver and Lucy both as a couple and as individuals. Both are beautifully broken for very different reasons but when they come together they become whole once again. Add this wonderful book to your TBR list and get lost in Oliver and Lucy’s love story.
“Broken Hero” by Olivia Hayle started off kind of slow IMO, and I was a bit frustrated with all of the mystery surrounding the main characters’ pasts. It’s one thing for the main characters not to reveal all of their secrets to each other at first, but it’s always nice for the author to give readers a few details early on to sustain interest in the story. In this case, however, it seemed like the author chose to hold a lot of details back until very late in the book. For example, while there were some hints dropped along the way, we did not learn the exact circumstances behind Lucy, the female lead’s, firing from her job in Dallas until almost 3/4 of the way through the book.
Despite that small frustration, I really liked the main characters, Lucy and Oliver, and thought that their relationship developed at a nice pace. Oliver, the titular “broken hero” of the story, didn’t seem to be very “broken” to me for about the first third of the book; he came across as kind of moody, but that was all. It wasn’t until he ventured out to the crowded town fair that his PTSD really started to manifest. After it did and it became apparent that it was causing problems in his growing relationship with Lucy, I really appreciated that Oliver made the decision to seek therapy on his own, and didn’t need to be pushed into it. I also liked how hard he tried to be more open with Lucy, and thought it was incredibly sweet that Lucy made the effort to learn more about his condition so that she would know how to be a supportive partner for Oliver.
In some ways, Lucy seemed to be more “broken” than Oliver. She certainly had a hard time letting go of what happened with her job in Dallas, and as a result found it next to impossible to ignore town gossip about her and Oliver’s relationship, even when it turned out that most of the gossip was not as bad as she thought it was. To be fair, her trauma was fresher than Oliver’s, but it still seemed to me like she might benefit from therapy just as much as Oliver did.
In addition to Oliver and Lucy, the secondary characters were a lot of fun and added interest to the story. I especially enjoyed Oliver’s matchmaking sister, Sarah, and her young daughters, as well as receptionist Mandy and Oliver’s Marine buddy, Logan. I would definitely be interested in reading more about Mandy and Logan’s relationship. Based on the epilogue, there’s obviously a lot more to their story!
Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it. There were some minor frustrations for me, but the likeable characters and nicely paced relationship development were more than enough to make up for those.

Inspiring characters that are well developed and a heart warming story line that you’ll fall in love with. There’s attraction, chemistry and of course misunderstandings between the characters that keep the reader turning the pages.

I really like the backstory in this book. Oliver and Lucy are perfect for each other. There is the drama of the quick judgements, twisted misunderstandings and underlying attraction and chemistry. The characters are realistic and fully developed. The setting is fun and surprising. The secondary characters are fun and quirky.

Lucy comes back to her home town to lick her wounds and to try to start her life over. Oliver, former marine and ranch owner, keeps to himself and deals with his PTSD all on his own. A brief encounter brings the two together. Can a new romance be exactly what they both need to get beyond the baggage in their pasts? I was locked into this story from the opening pages. The characters were beautifully written and instantly the reader becomes vested in the romance. Add in the quirky sister and small girls and you get a family dynamic that just adds so much more to the story. I cannot wait to read more in this series!!
This is the first book by this author that I have read I will now be looking for more by her. This is Oliver Morris and Lucy Rhodes’ story and it kept me turning pages. It has a great storyline and the story flowed smoothly across the pages. Both of them have things to get over before they can move forward. I enjoyed reading this book, a must read story. The good storyline and the well rounded characters made this book a very enjoyable read! This was the first book that I have read by this author and I look forward to reading more!
This was a great book. There were great characters, involved backstories, and a very warm setting. I don’t want this book to be the end! It feels like the perfect setup for a series! I’ll be following this author waiting for more of her books.
I prefer my books clean, and this book was definitely heavy on the steam side.

Truly enjoyed this book, inspiring characters of both Lucy and Oliver. Great match of these two people who are running/hiding from themselves but trying to find what they lost in their lives. Love the connection and all the support they received from their family and friends in dealing with PTSD and rumors that can hurt, but nonetheless are just words that can be overcome with confidence and strength of character. Wonderful ending to this book.
