Zero three zero nine.Four little numbers … four little words. They might be random and insignificant to anyone else, but they meant something to us. No, they meant everything to us. Until they were ripped away. That was the day our lives took a different course. One we had no control over. One that others puppeteered and mangled into a cluster so big, it left us with emotional scars lined with … with emotional scars lined with resentment and venom toward each other.
All because I’m a Montgomery and he’s a Barrett.
Now, Trig’s back and he hates me with more hostility and rage than ever … and I’ve learned to do the same. But when the world comes crashing down and the stakes couldn’t be higher, I can’t run and I can’t hide.
I need the help of the one person whose loathing for me runs deeper than blood and colder than his icy-blue stare.
I need Trig.
I need him more than I know.

One is a Montgomery and the other Barrett. They broke each other. However, Trig never gives up. Excellent rendition of emotional angst, danger and the biggest of all love. These characters come alive and stay with you. Look forward too so much more.
I was pretty torn when I started to read this book but I ended up loving it. I was really unhappy with how Trig and Ellie treated each other from the start because I knew there had to be a reason for how things ended between them. And I was totally right. There story was very sad and heartbreaking. There were so many lies and deceptions going on. But I think what I found most heartbreaking was that Ellie did not fall into a good place. She got hurt even more.
And now …. WHAT THE HECK!!!! Brynne Asher made characters that so totally needed to have a throat punch moment. And then even more truths started coming to light that I was completely thrown because they were actually pretty big. There was a lot of emotion in this book and not all of it was good, but it definitely made for a totally amazing storyline.
Overall, great book with tons of emotional impacts. Trig and Ellie … I really wanted to reach into the book at times and smack the both of them upside their heads a time or two, but I love how they ended and how strong they grew together. I will totally give this book 5 stars and two high thumbs up! Happy reading!!
Holy heck! This book is EVERYTHING! As soon as I finished it, I wanted to reread it again just to make sure it was as exceptional as I thought.
Ten years ago Trig and Ellie’s young love was snatched away and they were both left with hearts that would never heal. Now, Ellie is facing the fight of her life and Trig steps in to help…despite her protests that she needs nothing from him.
I absolutely loved Trig and Ellie. Their brokenness was written in every devastating word this author laid out on the page. My heart actually hurt from the pain these characters carried with them and their obstacles were such that I actually wondered how they could ever find healing and redemption.
”I’ve shed more tears for Trig than any one person deserves in a lifetime. They came equally for my love and hate for him and even more because I didn’t know which one I felt most.
Hate and love – the deepest of all emotions are the ones that can wreak havoc on your soul. How many nights did I wish for an apathetic heart?”
Trig was a perfect hero. His love for Ellie was fierce, even when buried beneath the heartache of the past. He was determined to win her again and he chased her with a determination that I haven’t read in a very long time, if ever. I loved that despite her pushing him away, he continued to pursue her, to be there for her and her son, and most of all to keep her safe.
Ellie’s life has been a roadmap of heartbreak and bad decisions. The only thing right in her life is her son, Griffin. The past has left its mark on her soul and to have that dangled in front of her again, and resist the temptation of all that is Trig, is an enormous undertaking. Ms. Asher proves once more that she knows how to do strong heroines.
This story moved me as I witnessed the pain, the reunion, the struggle and then the reconciliation between Ellie and Trig. The chemistry between them sizzled in every exchange they had and only escalated as the story progressed. Even so, this has a slower burn to it as they move from the past into the present and then the future.
And the drama! There was constantly something happening to keep these characters on their toes and me right along with them. By the time I reached the end with all its twisty goodness I was riding an emotional high unlike any I’ve had for a while. Then to add icing to an already delicious cake, we are given an amazing epilogue that had me tearing up even while my heart rejoiced.
This is definitely going into my top reads and I can’t recommend it enough!
This second chance romance has fast become my favourite of Brynne Asher. It sucked me and took me on a roller coaster of suspense, angst and hotness. Ellie and Trig are meant for each but they were torn apart by adult who were up to no good or thought they knew better. Years later they are thrown together and as much as she doesn’t want too , Ellie’s life is spiralling out of control -someone is out to get her and she need Trig more than ever. The banter and chemistry between these two is electric and very entertaining but your heart will break for what they had to go through. Fantastically written that will keep you reading well into the night
Broken Halo is the best second chance romance I have read to date! I don’t get all excited about second chance, usually because of the reasons a couple split up. This one had me completely intrigued about what went down 10 years prior and it ended up being a great twist to the story.
Everything about this book had me on the edge of my seat. There is a lot happening at a time when Ellie is most vulnerable and I had no clue what would happen next. The way Easton (Trig) swoops in and protects her earned him a spot in my favorite Heroes list. He bulldozed his way in and took charge. I loved that!
I also really enjoyed that Jen and Eli were in this book quite a bit. I think I fell a little bit more for Eli after the way he handled things with the Jen and Ellie. This author really knows how to write the best kind of man most women dream of.
Well-crafted, intense, and highly satisfying!
An amazing second-chance love story! Years after going separate ways, Trig and Ellie still harbor so much anger! Will they find what they had before? Mysteries within a mystery: bit by bit, the author reveals what’s not known. The layers are peeled back, showing us what occurred in the past. I loved watching their story unfold, wondering what the outcome would be. It brought up so many emotions as they became reacquainted, some sad, some elated, all creating a very satisfying whole.

Plenty of sweet & funny moments
An epilogue that had me smiling like a loon while quietly sniffling
Gah! I am a very happy reader right now
This was my first Brynne Asher book and it won’t be my last!
If you love a second chance romance, you’ll love this one!
Ellie and Trig had a wonderful relationship until it all fell apart.
Both characters have not had life easy and that’s what made me love them and their story all the more. They earned their happily ever after.
Brynne Asher never ever fails to write the most gripping stories, like always her book are emotional, heart breaking and most important flawless. There is not a second from start to finish do you wanna skip or rush.
These are the kinda of stories that stay with you for forever… its a story line that happens in reality way to offen. So this book may just those like Trigg and Ellie some kind of hope.
It’s that beautiful and That Inspiring.
Its very hard to give you a review without any spoilers. So first I would like to say please read Bad Situation if you haven’t read it. Although they are standalones. They are connected…
This is a story about Ellie who we know is Jen’s sister and Trigg. Their story is utterly heartbreaking and so sad. There was happy tears and sad tears.
Ellie and Triggs are a second chance love story. Their hearts and Soul are so in sync. Their chemistry is off the charts, their love is strong and unshakable. Trigg is so easy to fall in love with and Ellie falls head over heels for him again…
They both are protective of each other and would move heaven an earth for each other.
It’s an absolute must to mention that their sex scenes are fucking hottttt….
Grab this book and be wowed its a Beautiful Love Story….
Enjoy!!!!!
3.5 Angel Stars
Sweet second chance, suspenseful romance with some unexpected twists, heat, tense moments, family struggles and love that stands the test of time. This second installment in The Montgomerys series was an enjoyable read.
I figured this one would be an emotional rollercoaster from the bit I read at the end of book 1 and I wasn’t surprised to find it to be just that. There is a TON of angst and regret and issues that these two have to work through to get to their HEA. However there is no author I would trust more to get them there than BA. This book is a journey to be sure but it’s worth it so don’t be afraid!! Great read.
Broken Halo is an amazing second chance romance that I devoured in one day! Absolutely loved this second chance romance between Trig and Ellie. Even though ten years had passed, you could still sense the love between them. Yes, it was masked as hate when they first saw each other after his mom’s funeral, but the more they were forced to spend time together, both of their walls started crumbling, and it was only a matter of time before they gave into that connection that would always be there. Both of them had made mistakes, and once what really happened all those years ago came to light – there really was no reason for them to stay apart.
I really just enjoyed everything about this story – full of romance, mystery, drama…..all of it was incredible. I haven’t read many books from Brynne yet, but if they are all like this one – I know that I’m going to love them! And I can’t wait to see what comes next!
Broken Halo….when I first started my heart was so broken but Trig and Ellie put my shattered heart back together slowly. I was on such an emotional high after Broken Halo that I had to take a day to recover. Brynne wrote a heart wrenching yet beautiful love story.
Broken Halo gives us the story of Ellie and Trig. We’ve met them in previous books and knew they had a history, this is the story of resolving that history and writing a new future. Second chance love stories are not my favorite, but I gave this one a chance since I have loved everything Brynne Asher has written so far. I LOVED this book! Ellie is hilarious and lovable. Trig is protective, loving, and willing to admit when he’s wrong. I can’t wait to read more of this awesome series!
What an emotional ride! Book 2 in this author’s The Montgomerys Series is a sexy, heartfelt, second chance romance. It does have characters intersecting from previous books, but can stand alone just fine. This is the love story of Trig and Ellie. So young and in love their HEA was ruthlessly ripped away when they were barely adults, thanks to both of their families. Fast forward 10 years. This is where the bulk of the book takes place. There are some flashbacks throughout and they are woven organically into the content and make sense relative to present day events. Even knowing the basics of what had happened to them all those years ago, I wanted the details. And I liked the way they were revealed…bit by bit. Once past the heartbreak that broke Trig and Ellie apart….the way was paved to not only rekindle an old love, but to see that love as a building block to a new and greater love based on the people they are now. There are several external obstacles our couple face as they strive toward a new and permanent HEA. Because in addition to a beautiful romance, we have more than one very intriguing plot line. A few detestable villains. A couple of real WTF surprises. And humor. And plenty of heat. Congrats to Ms. Asher on this one! I enjoyed every single page. And 2 epilogues!! Spoiled here and loving it!
No spoilers here but I will simply say it’s amazing…like all her books. You won’t regret reading a single one of them. I am super picky on who I read (not sure that’s a good thing) but Brynne is an automatic buy for me. Buy it, read it, love it!
I am a HUGE fan of Brynne Asher, but *whispers* I was a little nervous about reading this book. The first book in this series wasn’t my favorite of hers and I worried that maybe this series would just not be for me.
So, I’m cruising right along through the first few chapters, enjoying myself, curiosity building, and then Zero-Three-Zero-Nine happened and I knew–I just knew there was nothing to worry about except for how much my heart would break for these characters before it would be put back together again by the wonderful words of Ms. Asher.
I loved this book. I felt like it had just the right amount of heart, intrigue, and sexy to keep me on my toes the whole time. I loved watching Trig and Ellie come to terms with this lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers relationship. I loved how Ellie was a mama bear for her son, Griffin, and how her sister always had her back. I loved how Ellie finally learned how to let people in–to let people help. I usually despise plots that come from a miscommunication or misunderstanding, but the way that it was handled here worked. And there is so much more going on than just the relationship between Trig and Ellie, it just really makes for a fantastic read. I couldn’t put it down. I’m so excited to see what comes next in this series! Highly recommend!
Trig and Ellie’s story is a true emotional journey. From page one you can feel the struggle between the two, and the sexual tension also. Another well written story from Brynne Asher, that gives you love, suspense, and never ending love.
Brynne Asher has done an amazing job in writing this book! This is an amazing second chance book that will leave you emotionally raw and ripped apart and then throw in a few twists and put you right back together a bit stronger. I think the author did a fantastic job in writing this story that really allows the reader a chance to fully experience this story.
4.5 stars! While not a huge fan of the second chance trope, this one is done so well! A decade has passed since Trig and Ellie broke up and we don’t know what happened. Brynne does a terrific job filling us in on the past gradually throughout the first part of the novel via flashbacks, which I really enjoyed. Lots of twists and turns up until the very end, mixed with lots of angst, emotions, and steam. There is not a lot of humor in Broken Halo, as there frequently is in other novels by Brynne, but I enjoyed the emotional turmoil that occurred while both Trig and Ellie healed from the past. Ellie is a bit overly emotional for my liking at times, but I still thoroughly enjoyed her character. And I love Trig! The epilogue is adorable as well.
