Oh my! Just when you thought things were getting better, boom! That ending just threw me for a loop!! This story is thrilling, intoxicating and confusing but also eye opening and devastating! I’m so excited but apprehensive to see what’s in store next!
5 “Placebo” stars
Oh My “Qunbula” what an explosive story!
Trust CD to write a heart thumping story which is thrumming with danger. there’s a buzz in the background, ebbing and flowing and we get a scary ride into the dark tunnels of Caden’s mind!! I was as anxious and apprehensive as Greyson, she’s a saint I tell ya. And all the other military wives whose husbands suffer from some from of anxiety and PTSD, a huge salute to you ladies !!!
I feel this story is about FAITH. Faith in your country to protect you, Faith in your partner to pull you through hard times, enough to make you want to be a better person and faith in yourself to try and control the demons in your mind. What happens when Faith is not enough and demons overpower your attempts ? You compartmentalize and lock some doors and pretend those cells don’t exist. That’s a brain’s survival mode!
“Human beings were capable of selecting memories to suit their attitudes about present circumstances. We forgot the pain of childbirth to have more babies. We leaned over the toilet, swearing we’d never drink again, then said “thank you” when offered a fresh glass of wine.”
Unnecessary wars create casualties of all kinds and this series is expertly touching upon the adverse effects of Iraq War on US personnel. The daily dangers The twists and turns made me dizzy, I gasped, I swore, I was shit scared and I hurt.
I Knew it !! Knew that snake Ronin had the key, the ground zero of all this shitstorm! I effing knew it!!
CD highlights the dangers these brave men and women face in the war zones on a daily basis. Explosives, mortars,IEDs, insurgents, snipers, constant gunfire…….. it’s a critical and deadly lives they lead. This is more true of life saving Doctors who work round the clock, saving lives and treating patients, driving their bone tired bodies on caffeine shots, vitamins, and amphetamine.”
nd their spouses suffer with them
In the unwinding, my own feelings were freed. Disappointment unraveled to reveal anxiety, which dissolved into a puddle of worry that boiled with anger that steamed into sadness before soaking into resentment.
Snipers being the deadliest cause they hide in minarets and shoot these people like flies.that leads to the need to constantly be hyper alert, looking over your shoulder or scopaesthesia , which may result in paranoia and ultimately PTSD.
Caden is already dealing with remnants of Balad & Abu Ghraib war in his mind, add to this Baghdadi posting under the constant bullets flying around and bombs exploding heightens the trauma. Now he’s dealing with a new THING. It’s buzzing like a swarm of drones or bees.
I knew sanity was a slippery concept, but Damon was gone, replaced by a buzz I didn’t know well enough to fear. I didn’t have time to attribute it to the pace of the work or even pure necessity. I only had time to get pieces of metal from a guy’s lungs.
This new Thing wanted her pain like a thirsty man wanted water. Damon was gone, but I was still broken in two.
Greyson wants to be there for him to pull him at the critical moment and offer herself up as therapy or cure, if you please.
This perilous move on her part results in a disaster.
“Punishing Greyson hard was the way to get rid of Damon. This new Thing craved danger.”
I won’t say, I can’t say because my attempts are too tiny and puny in trying to explain. I’ll let CD do this job, go read this eye opening series and revel in the master craftsmanship of Christine. She’s a maestro in writing complex stories that deal with heart and brain.
I’d happily be MrsVitaminG to MajorRabbitsFoot. . Caden with sky in his eyes, your beauty and bravery just devoured me whole. I was enamoured by you and fallen completely in love with you. I wish I was your Greyson, your Vitamin G, to hold you, take your pain and talk you through it! Till then I’ll keep my small self folded and tucked between the pages of this story and call my self a part of it by association
You just can’t see the big picture. None of us can.”
“Maybe the picture’s too big for me.”
CANNOT wait for the next and hopefully last book, cause the ending gave me jitters!!!
This series is nothing short of mind blowing. I’ve said that with the last 2 books in the series and the prequel, but it’s the truth. A constant on-the-edge of your seat gripping tale of deep seated love, suspense, and everything in between. Caden and Greyson are thrust into the chaotic unknown and the rapid fire of your heartbeat never slows down. It’s a never ending battle of no no no, yes yes yes and oh please not that! There are lies, truths, mysteries, deception and sex that’s off the charts. I can’t wait for the conclusion in Over the Edge.
Broken Edge should be named after my feelings in this moment! I’m going to try and explain as best I can what I love about this book, which is complicated, with many moving parts. But also my explanation is unnecessary, as this is book three and if you read books one, two, and the prequel, you are already itching to read this. Like a compulsion.
Everyone surprised me. Greyson is brave and a little crazy maybe, stubborn and kind of fierce. Caden shocked me, but that’s nothing new. Ronin confuses me, and leaves me always with questions.
As much heart-pounding action and stress, highs and lows, fill the pages of this book, the end is the ultimate cliffhanger. The final line is everything. I’m a mess. Is it August yet?
4.5 Stars
Broken Edge continues Greyson and Caden’s complicated love story. Greyson and Caden have been attempting to make their marriage work as they face a new time and chapter in their lives, but neither are quite prepared for the changes they will undergo or how close to the edge they will walk as they deal with complicated emotions and new and daring sexual desires. Just when you think you know where Reiss is taking this story, this third book comes along and shakes everything up, leaving us with a cliffhanger that had me reeling and desperate for book four.
Broken Edge had a different feel for me, than the previous two books. This is told in three sections and a good portion takes place in a war zone. Each never book broadens my appreciation for Greyson. She is such a strong and determined character. She is willing to walk any line and take any risk to save Caden – at times, risks he, himself, is not willing to take with her. Caden is such an interesting character, who at times, can be hard to love. We see him suffering so much because of his mental state and desperately trying to battle his demons by escaping into himself. He is not willing to risk Greyson, the only person who seems to be able to help him keep his grip, but she has no qualms taking risk after risk if it means she can help Caden find his way through the darkness.
Reiss writes masterfully in this series and it is truly one of her best works to date. It is dark, emotional, provocative and sure to keep you, the reader, teetering on that same dangerous edge the main characters hover near as you wait to find out what twisted and unexpected path we will all be brought down next.
It is called Broken Edge for a reason!! I am shattered, gutted, blown to bits! My mind has been whirring for days trying to reconcile the story that I read and the unending brilliance of Christine Reiss.
This is not a collection of words put together to tell a story of the will of a man or woman, the pain of love, the power of lust and sexual need. This is a master class in creating a book where the characters are so multi dimensional and the plot so rich that you are forced to reread the same sentence at least twice to say Holy EF!! That just happened!!!
Broken Edge calls on the parts of Caden and Greyson that are deep and dark and edgy and are cracking and altering their lives in a whole new way. They are both dominant and submissive and the fire that creates will blow you away!
The conclusion of this series can’t come fast enough!
I must admit my heart rate sped up as I started reading this book given all that went on before and especially because of the way On The Edge ended. Reading this book was a truly a remarkable and emotional experience. At times I found myself holding my beath in anticipation what may happen next. I could not, would not and did not put the book down until it was finished. Once again, CD Reiss has masterfully crafted a deeply intense romantic tale involving two people whose ownly salvation may be one another.
The Edge Series by CD Reiss keeps getting better and better. The turbulent relationship between Caden and Greyson has completely captured my attention and heart! This unconventional couple is intense, real, honest and completely breaks the marriage mold. Nothing they do or say is obvious. Just when I think they’re going to turn left, they turn right. I am on the edge of my seat anticipating their next move and have a delightful case of whiplash trying to figure them out.
Plain and simple, Caden and Greyson beat to their own drum and it is LOUD and POWERFUL! The love these two share bleeds, truly bleeds off the pages. I am consumed by every encounter they share. It’s like Caden and Greyson live in their own little world and everything around them is just white noise. Greyson is stronger and more determined than ever to stick by her husband’s side through better or worse. Caden continues to put his beautiful wife on a pedestal, he realizes she is the glue he needs to stay sane through their difficult journey.
I’ve never been so excited to read cliffhangers in a series before. You know they’re coming, all you can do is ride the wave and bask in the craziness. This story has it all; truth, lies, passion, questions and more questions. We’re getting answers, but I know without a doubt CD Reiss is going to keep us hanging by a thread in the final installment. I honestly cannot fathom where we are going to end up with this incredible couple, but I will be first in line to find out!
CD Reiss does it Again!!!!
This time we are getting answers!!
Yes people we are finally getting answers
BUT as we delve more and more into it, there were no more pages to turn…..
roll on Book 4 !!
God I have not been hooked on a series like this for absolute ages and I love the fact that Christine has us hook line & sinker with this
#amosonedge
Holy ending! I’m over here like, what the french toast did Greyson just do?! Gah, this whole series is killing me! One of the multiple things that I’m loving about each book is that it’s totally not predictable. At all. Just when you think it’s going to go one way, surprise, it goes the complete opposite way. It keeps you on your toes! I love all the new stuff we’re finding out about Caden and getting in deeper with Ronin. I can not wait for the conclusion because it’s been one heck of a ride so far!
Be prepared, dear readers: CD Reiss ends this book with a SCREAM.
By now, you are fully invested in Caden and Greyson’s story. You know about his PTSD, you know about the super secret treatment he’s been getting for it, and you know that, at the end of On the Edge, he made a decision that immediately made you worry. Had CD Reiss not made Greyson suffer enough? Spoiler: SHE HASN’T. Not by a long stretch.
Reiss takes you deeper into Caden’s broken history, showing you some chilling scenes from his childhood. She helps you understand him better, as she also makes you understand Greyson better. When you see Caden’s suffering, you feel for him as viscerally as his wife does.
One reason why you care so deeply about Caden is how Reiss addresses his PTSD. She writes those scenes with grace and respect, honoring servicemen and women who return to their countries suffering the worst sort of psychological aftereffects. When Caden is in the grips of his trauma, your heart shatters for him.
CD Reiss toys with you in this book. She gives you hope. She makes you think that Caden and Greyson are on their way to being fully, wholly together–that he will be healed and that her love will be strong enough to get them through the darkness.
And then Reiss hits you with an ending that will make you drop your book and gasp. And you realize the genius storytelling of CD Reiss–that she brought you to this precipice, something she foreshadowed and warned you would happen. This is not an ending that feels false to the story, and that, perhaps is what affects you most. You know that this is where The Edge series has been headed all along.
The title’s of this series is very appropriate because I am literally on edge reading each book! There should be background music playing as you read. The kind you get in movies that tell you something is about to happen. My nerves are shot. Especially after that ending. It’s going to be incredibly hard to wait until book 4. I have no idea what’s going to happen next and I can’t even guess as to what’s going to happen. I had a hard time moving onto a new book after I finished book two and I think I’m going to have the same problem with this one. There is just so much to speculate about and I can’t mention any of it. Read this series but make sure you read it in order…that’s very important.
