I thought this book was very interesting. Lauren had a rough start in life. It seemed that everything bad that could happen to a young girl did. It was truly heartbreaking to read some of the stuff that she went through. I am happy that she moved on from those horrible incidents. This book is really fast paced. It took me no time to read. The story line was really good, but it had so much potential to be more in depth. There are holes in the story. I wanted to know more. You get a feel for the horrors she went through, but those could have been elaborated more on. Also, we find out how she got way from that and moved on, but I wanted to know what she felt during that time. What she experienced away from the horrors and when she could finally take that deep breath and know she was going to be ok.
I am actually proud of Lauren’s character. She could have been another victim, but she persevered. She made something of her self. When the nightmares get too bad, she knew she needed therapy. That was awesome of her. I wish there was more to those sessions, though. I love her friend, Violet. She is a sure spot fire! I would have loved to read more about what she goes through working in the neonatal unit. I’m glad Lauren found Layne. Their relationship blossomed really quick , but I understand that that may need to have happened in order to keep up with the pace of the book. All in all, it was a good story. I’m glad I read it.
Broken Dreams is a book about overcoming the bad hand you are dealt in life and seeing the beauty that is all around you. Even when your life is so bad, you can take some good out of it and that is exactly what Lauren does. She is a survior of a horrible childhood and an even worse teenage years that she really thought could break her and followed her into her adult dreams, but she made a life for herself and found that sharing her past would open her up to the happily ever after she never thought she would have. This book has some triggers, but they are written so beautifully in the way Lauren describes what happened to her in her past that it actually brings tears to your eyes of how people could be so ruthless and horrible to innocent children and teenagers, but it is an amazing read and I highly recommend it.
This story may not be for everyone, as there are mature situations and graphic discussions. I enjoyed the raw, real dialog, and characters. At some points, it is tough to read, as you connect with the MC, and know what she survived, and the trauma she survived. I admit, I trusted no one in the book…not even the MC, which was great, sometimes not trusting the MC’s perspective makes for a wild ride. I can’t wait to read more!
I loved this book! Layne and Lauren are the sweetest! I loved how strong Lauren was after her horrible childhood!
I liked the storyline and the backstory on Lauren. It was a heartbreaking one to be sure. I enjoyed the love story that developed between Lauren and Layne.
For a first book, it was a good one. I hope to read more and see how the author develops her voice.

I knew going in to reading this that this was the first book written and released by this author. I am so very glad to have read this. The storyline is amazing. It resonates so clearly. This book proves that women can not only survive but thrive and live even after abuse. Great job and I can’t wait to see what the author releases next.
Lauren has a past she can’t forget. Mainly because of the horrific nightmares she has. She only has her friends Violet and Layne. When she and Layne finally started seeing each other she worries that if he find out he will leave her. This was not a terribly long read, but satisfying. Could contain triggers for some.

I absolutely love this story about Lauren who is trying to take her life back. I like the way the author uses flashbacks to explain her story. This book sucked me in from the first page to the last.
Good read!! I was hooked from page 1. Between wanting to see where things were going for Layne and Lauren and wanting to learn more about Lauren’s past. It keeps the pages turning and leaves you wanting more!
Ever read a book and feel like the characters are people you know IRL? That’s how I felt reading this book Rose’s voice when writing is very in the now. Like I could totally picture myself chatting it up at work with Lauren and V.
On to the story, dark and heart breaking for Lauren. The whole time I was reading I kept hoping Layne was going to stay a good guy and be her HEA. Guess you’ll have to live through the suspense like I did to find out because I’ll never tell.
We also get just enough of “good” ole Charlie boy to keep us wondering about what’s going on there.
I was taken by page one. I couldn’t put it down till I was done. The relationships in this book were phenomenal. To have a best friend like V is honestly life goals. The relationship between Layne and Lauren is the stuff dreams are made of. I absolutely loved this book and I can’t wait until I can read more pieces by Rose.
