Her planet belongs to him. Her body will too.I’ve been a slave since Earth was conquered, but today a powerful Rathkari commander has singled me out. He’s brought me aboard his ship and made sure I’m bathed and pampered. Now this huge, fearsomely sexy alien warrior plans to do absolutely anything he wants with me.I hate him and his entire race, and I fight him with everything I have… at first. … everything I have… at first. But before long, I’m moaning, writhing, and blushing with utter shame as he forces one savage, shattering climax after another from my naked, helpless, tightly bound body.
Soon I’ll surrender completely. Then he’ll claim me, use me, and breed me hard and often, and I’ll take everything he gives me and beg for more. He’ll have broken me, and I’ll know it.

Era is a slave, working for the alien invaders. All the men and boys were taken as were the females of breeding age, the females over 28 years old were used as workers. Fulcron was in charge of running the colony but Era was noticed by the overseer, she was bleeding. Era was lifted and carried towards her inevitable death, to be made into fertilizer for the crops. Commander Seale Karlo sees Era being taken and stops the overseer and makes a decision, he knows Era isn’t bleeding because she’s hurt, she is of breeding age. Era has kept herself filthy and the food is sparse, so she looks thin and frail, but Karlo sees through her disguise.
Karlo realizes how fragile Era is and after cleaning her up, he feeds her and treats her well. Karlo decides Era is his and he will keep her as his mate and breed her. Every time Karlo tries to do anything to, or for Era, she fights him and curses him but Karlo knows how to handle his human mate. I enjoyed every single word of this interesting and exciting story, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out how Karlo and Era could learn to learn about each other and show some love and caring. I never doubted Karlo’s affection for Era, he was so patient and understanding, I wanted to jump through the pages and take Era’s place! Don’t miss this book, it’s loaded with excitement, adventure, some hot, kinky sex and battles in space. Not one bit of reading this book was slow enough to let me put it down to take a break and do other things!
Era has been hiding in plain sight. Instead of being sorted within the group for women of childbearing years, she’s kept herself covered in mud and stench of the rice fields with the older group of women. She does not want to be bred. When one of the Rathkari overseers sees that she is bleeding, he assumes she is broken and intends to put her throw her into the recycler. That’s when Karlo comes along and stops everything and Era’s whole world is about to change again. There were parts of this storyline that were so emotional I couldn’t help but have empathy for both Era and Karlo. Each of them holding onto their own set of right and wrong they couldn’t see or admit to what was in front of them. There were twists and turns, with a few surprises! I always enjoy Loki Renard’s books and this one was no exception.
As always, Loki Renard gives us a tale full of darkness, but also of redemption. It’s definitely steamy enough to make anyone blush, and the intimacy is intricately central to the storyline, which makes it entertaining. I loved this story a lot, and I know I’ll back when I’m in the mood for some dark, ultra sexy read.
Loki Renard is brilliant! Broken by the Alien hooked me from the first page. Not only was it a smokin’ hot read, but I also loved the feistiness of Era and the tenacity of Karlo. A definite must read!
They had taken her planet and now he was going to take her. He takes her and pampers her and she is fed well. She fights him at first but soon she falls under his spell and she wants more all the time. Follow just what she will do for him

So, this is a very dark scifi alien invasion/abduction romance. For some authors, that could be a hard combination to write well, but Loki Renard has mastered it quite well. There are so many great elements to this book that drag you in and keep you stuck until the end. The entire first chapter is really intense and it totally sets the stage for what’s coming next. You learn why Era is so angry, and you get to start to sympathize with her and her feelings.
Era is a human woman. She’s working as a slave for the Rathkari on Earth. The Rathkari have invaded the Earth and taken all the men of any age and gotten rid of them. Then they came for the women of breeding age, and are mating with them. The women who are left over are used for slave labor and when they die, they are used to help nourish the soil. Era is of child-bearing age, but she’s been hiding in plain sight and working in the rice paddies. But, when the overseer sees that she’s on her period, he decides that she’s broken and is going to dispose of her. However, the superior officer for the entire Rathkari occupation just happens to walk on the field at that exact moment and saves Era’s life, even if she doesn’t want him to.
Karlo sees Era and recognizes that she would be of breeding age. That means that he’s going to save her from being recycled and claim her. But first, he’s going to have to get her healthy. He doesn’t understand why she is so mad at him and the Rathkari. She would literally rather fight him than for him to save her. But, that isn’t going to stop him.
Their story is seriously complicated. There is no way that I can simplify it down for a review. If I try to explain the full story, it’s going to sound really disjointed, but all the twists and turns really work with the book, and even though there are lots of things that happen, Loki has written it so well that you can follow it effortlessly while you are reading it. You might not even realize how complex it is until you have finished reading it. To me, that just shows how good a book is. And I can’t imagine the book without any one of those twists in it. I really need to be able to give this one like 15 stars.

Thrilling, dangerous, and sexy.
Loved the ending.
Really enjoying these alien romances. I need more!
Not as good as some of her other books
I’m so glad I discovered this author. Her books are so satisfying. Very enjoyable.
Well… I wasn’t expecting that!! Alien Invasion and BDSM yes.. but not the whopping juicy story that went with it! And yes…there is quite a lot of kinky fuckery that fills the pages, but the world building was solid and believable. It was a really interesting read and had some great themes…Can happily say this was a very enjoyable read I liked the conflict between the two mc’s and that Era wasn’t a pushover. I also really liked Karlo, his dry humour was perfect. I also appreciated that he was man… ahem.. alien enough to realise his errors.
I will definatly check out more from this author.
This book is very different and not for everybody. But having said that, I liked the originality and the characters. The sex scenes were definitely for adults only and a little off-putting (at least for me) but I did like the story overall. This is what I consider entertaining “fluff” but that’s intended as a compliment. It’s good diversion and that’s what I look for in this type of book.
Earth is conquered and only the womenfolk remain as slaves. At least there was something desirable on this rock.
I have figured out the difference between Military SF and SF Romance: In Military SF Earth wins. Not so in SF Romance where Earth is always conquered and our women enslaved. Oh, and the alien males are all dominant and well built in a human form. Curious.
This is SF Romance so be prepared for lots of dominant alien sexual activity. Our heroine carries a lot of anger, which is very appropriate to the situation, but then she seems to give into her sexual desires far too easily. The story is very well written and is more complex than I anticipated, but I found the character reactions to be a little too predictable. I would have liked our heroine to be a little tougher and smarter. But it was an enjoyable story nonetheless.
Recommended for fans of dominant alien males.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout for review purposes.
This story has a little of everything, sweet romance, sexy overbearing and frustrating alpha make and a beautiful woman who has the right heart and spirit. Thoroughly enjoying and entertaining.

This human and alien romance is a wonderful story and I really enjoyed reading it. It’s about a human female who hates the aliens but is taken by one of them, although they both love each other they refuse to admit it and voice that love and so they are separated only to find each other later. There is suspense, romance in the enemies to lovers’ story and it has a lovely HEA.

A well-written story that once I started I was not putting down it grabbed my attention and did not let go until the last page. This book has one strong caring Alien male and one woman who has finally met her match in him. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Excellent and very well written. Aliens that have conquered earth and do many things. The women they enslave and do many things to. Add in their lifestyle and you have a very in depth story that is hard to write in a review as it is one you just have to read. I love this author and love what she did with this story. I very highly recommend it. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
I really liked this sci-fi romance. Era and Karlo have amazing chemistry and the story really draws you in. Loads of drama and off the charts hot read.
This book is filled with so many powerful, intense emotions. With a complex story that delivers a lot more than you would expect, this book pulls you into the dark romance of Era and Karlo. It is a shorter length read but the author provides plenty of complexity and complications to the story. This book is very steamy and its hot scenes feature spanking, power exchange and other BDSM elements. It was as easy to understand Era’s anger and frustration as it was to feel Karlo’s desire to have Era as a mate, make things better for her and show her the bigger picture. Still it is all pretty complex and I think this is a book that will either connect with you or be a turn off for you. Myself I enjoyed it and I would like to see more books about the Rathkari.
An intense and interesting story, I fell into this story before the end of chapter one and couldn’t stop reading until I read the whole thing. I loved the characters and the whole surviving dystopian vibe. Being taken or rescued by an alien could have turned out way worse. The story is interesting and hot and hard to put down. I loved the twist at the end, it was unexpected but so well managed and written! I’m a new fan of this author! Can’t wait to read another by them!
Two alien worlds collide, and neither will ever be the same again!
When the Rathkari came to Earth, they had two objectives: abduction of every man and all women of childbearing age, and subjugation of the remaining women in the most barbaric servitude. Era’s entire family is gone. Hatred? Oh, no. What she feels for the Rathkari is so much more. Escaping the wholesale abduction of women, she’s survived for four long years under brutal Rathkari overseers. Just as Era’s condemned to death, in a twist of fate, Commander Seale Karlo shows up for a snap inspection. Seeing beyond the surface to the truth of who and what she is beneath her filthy, tattered appearance, Karlo makes a decision he just may regret. All Era knows is she’s being taken by a Rathkari. Kicking, screaming, fighting, nothing makes a bit of difference. As she’s whisked away, she can only think of two things. She WILL escape. And Karlo WILL pay. But how? Karlo’s twice her size, domineering, even amused by her rebelliousness and hatred. Much to Era’s horror, her body betrays her with every one of Karlo’s very inventive punishments. She’s simultaneously repelled and magnetically drawn to this alien. How can this be? The battle of wills never ceases, despite the duo’s white hot desire for each other. Then, one explosive event changes both their lives forever. When Era reveals a devastating secret, Karlo knows his plans have to change. As Era realizes exactly what Karlo has in mind, she loses every scrap of control. Accepting there’s nothing left, Karlo does something no Rathkari has done before. In doing so, he sets in motion a series of events that will change not just him and Era, but the entire course of Rathkari/human relations. Era finally has the freedom she’s craved. As she slips into the depths of space, Karlo finally understands two things. He has to retrieve Era at any cost. And regardless of what she may want, she will be his! Despite his best intentions, Karlo no longer has control over the events surrounding him. When Era and Karlo finally meet again, she’s no longer the powerless captive she once was. Or is she? Who and what has she become? When the ultimate betrayal occurs, it’s not just Karlo who’s at risk. Is Era truly a threat to the Rathkari empire, a rebel to be condemned to death? Has Karlo lost any hope at retrieving her, making her pay for her betrayal? Absolutely nothing is as it appears. With uncertainty comes great despair and grief. Can Era truly be free of Karlo’s influence? Or has she been broken beyond repair?
This book couldn’t have been farther from what I expected when I started it. The complexity of Era and Karlo is nothing short of mind boggling. Nothing between these two is simple or easy. This is as far from a simple “alien meets human slave, they fall in love, and have a happily ever after” story as you can get. Era is truly the ultimate rebel. She hates the Rathkari with a soul-deep conviction that fills her every waking moment. It’s how she’s survived since her world exploded around her. Karlo is arrogant, dominant, smug, and dismissive of anything different from the Rathkari point of view. At times, I absolutely despised him. He may be dominant but his pompous self-importance makes him seem heartless. The sexual chemistry between Karlo and Era may be off the charts, but they’re literally worlds apart. Era isn’t just embarrassed by her physical response. She’s humiliated. Karlo accepts her capitulation as inevitable and his due. Yet underneath it all, there’s the barest thread of connection, so fragile it’s nearly nonexistent. This is what makes this entire story so compelling. The hatred, humiliation, and thirst for vengeance that flow from Era, the smug, absolute certainty Karlo holds that the Rathkari are the be all and end of everything, are entirely believable. But it’s the hint of something more, a gossamer filament of hope, that pulls you in and holds you riveted from the first page. Loki Renard is a master storyteller who’s once again shown just how brilliant she is. Congratulations, Ms. Renard! Broken by the Alien deserves nothing less than five stars. I absolutely adored it!
A final note. Be an informed reader! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don’t enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON’T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON’T ENJOY THE BOOK. It’s not fair to the author. She works hard to provide quality work. If you know you’ll object to a book’s subject matter before you buy it, you’re doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
