At the tender age of seven, Jess Riley’s parents were ripped out of her life by the Tear, a ripple of white light in the sky which randomly transports people from Earth to alternate realities and distant planets once a year. On the night the Tear first appeared, the Watchers, a mysterious group of men possessing supernatural powers, made their presence known to the leaders of the world, earning … earning their complete trust to deal with the turmoil the Tear caused.
Now twenty-two years old, Jess is an agent working for the Watcher Agency searching for a way to bring her parents back home. When the leader of the Watchers, Mason Collier, recruits her to join his team, Jess quickly discovers she is meant to play a major role in sealing the Tear forever. Mason and Jess instantly find themselves drawn to one another but they both resist their mutual attraction for different reasons. Broken by past events in their lives, they each struggle to overcome their fears and find the strength to take a chance on one another.
A Disclaimer from the Author:
It is not necessary to have read The Watchers Trilogy to read The Watcher Chronicles. But if you are interested in reading The Watchers Trilogy, I would recommend you not read this new series until you have finished Forgiven. What happens at the end of the trilogy is explained fairly early in Broken and I would hate for the ending of Forgiven to be ruined for you.
This series is intended for a mature audience. Recommended for ages 17 and older due to sexual situations and adult themes. If I were to use the movie rating system, I would rate this series an R.

I thought that this book was a great start to the Watchers Chronicles and follows on from Brand and Lilly’s story the Watchers Trilogy. In this book we meet Jess Reilly a Watcher Agent who at 7 years old lost both her parents as they were taken through the Tear, she has an adoptive family but keeps them a bit at arms length as she doesn’t want to lose anyone else like her parents. It’s the night of the Tear opening and it’s all Agents on deck as Tearers are usually confused when they arrive on their new planet, and Jess gets called to a home where the Tearer is holding a little girl and her family hostage and demanding to be sent home with the help of her boss and Watcher Isaiah Greenleaf, they calm the Tearer down and Jess plans to him to the closest Watcher Station so all his information can get loaded into their system but he attacks Jess and she ends up k*lling him and he explodes into a cloud of black ash. Jess hears the distinctive pop of a Watcher phasing in and assumes it’s her boss Isaiah but when she turns around it’s a Watcher she’s never seen before, he tells her that his name is Mason Collier and asks her What She Is? Mason is actually Isaiah’s superior and after seeing what she did to that Tearer she now works for him and his team in Colorado who for the last 15 years have been trying to close the Tear. I loved that Jess wasn’t afraid to tell Mason when he’s being rude and I think Mason liked that she does as most people don’t talk to him as equals due to him being the Leader of the Watchers when they first came to earth. Mason still carries the scar that God gave him when they fell since he and his fellow Watchers went against his orders by falling in love and marrying human women and a lot of the Watchers under Mason’s command ended up dr*nking bl*od and damning their children to the same fate. God forgave Mason so his scar should’ve healed but since Mason still hasn’t forgiven himself for failing all his Watcher Brothers’ it won’t fully heal until Mason has let go of his guilt. Jess and Lucifer’s friendship is strange and I can’t wait to see how that progresses and I hate to see what he’s going to do when he finds out that Jess is a vessel for his ex-best friend Michael’s soul as I don’t think it’s going to be pretty. Jess and Mason look like things are finally looking up as they’ve both admitted that they care about each other but Jess and another vessel Chandler are attacked by Baruch and some of his fellow Watchers saying that since Mason cares about her and Lucifer has given a decree that Jess can’t be harmed, he’d go after anyone else Jess cares about as hurting Jess would hurt Mason since he deserves everything he gets after failing the Watchers he commanded. Mason overhears Chandler and Jess talking about the reason why they were attacked and he tells Jess that they can’t be together and leaves. I’m looking forward to seeing where Jess’s dad has been all this time and why he’s back now after 15 years. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
Awesome characters and a fantastic plot of good verses evil. Abandoned and abused as a child, adopted by her foster mom and sister, she loves them dearly, but refuses to let anyone else close. She fights for justic and to protect the ones she loves. In a battle between good and evil, angels are human and the devil is handsome and kind. She will have to find the strength to trust and love again. Is it to late for her? She falls in love, will she be able to help him accept her, or is it over before it starts? Will he betray her love? Can she conquer the evil before it destroys everting she holds dear? Can she trust herself to make the right choices?
This book was very interesting. Very different from other books i have read, the setting was well written and characters enjoyable. Going to be grabbing the rest of this series. Amazing book.
Anything this author writes is worth reading!! Love her!
This continues the story from the Watchers trilogy which my advice you read first (and you will love it) Some of the characters from the first series appear in this book. The author does a great job with her characters and you feel their emotions. Good well made story of Angel’s, love and action. I highly recommend both series.
