An Amazon Best of the Year Selection Dangerous: Former Navy SEAL Clarence Wolfe’s unit was taken out with a land mine. Injured and devastated, he hasn’t been quite right since. Worse, the tragedy was no accident. All Wolfe wants now is to take down the man responsible. In the meantime, he’s good with being the muscle for the Deep Ops team—and leading a steamy no-strings-attached personal life. … no-strings-attached personal life. Until one intriguing woman changes everything . . .
Determined: Reporter Dana Mulberry is on a mission to avenge the death of a fellow journalist. She’s finally hot on a trail—right to a sex club—where she runs into . . . Wolfe? It seems both their leads have led to the same spot. To keep from blowing their covers, they’ll have to at least pretend to have a little fun. Trouble is, they genuinely like each other. And that’s way too risky for Wolfe, especially when, to his surprise, Dana agrees . . .
Complicated: Drawn to each other in ways they can’t understand, Wolfe and Dana keep it professional—until they’re shot at one night. And when their adventures land them both at the heart of corruption in D.C.—and at odds in their missions—they’ll have to dig deeper than ever to succeed in their quests—and with each other . . .

As a die hard Zanetti fan, I enjoy everything she writes and I’m really loving her romantic suspense series (although DP will always remain my fave Zanetti series). I’m really excited about the new members of the team that was revealed at the end of the book too. The promise of continuing the series.
Without giving away the ending, which I LOVED (even made me cry for Roscoe), Wolfe’s story was probably my fave story of the whole team, SO FAR. Can’t wait to read Angus’s story next though.
Wolfe has been my favorite since reading the first book in this series, so having a book that focused on Wolfe was a treat. Rebecca Zanetti has built a community of characters, some quirky, some normal, but all of them endearing in their own ways.
What I liked most was seeing Wolfe in all his protective glory, finally opening up and accepting that he does have a family with the team. And of course Roscoe, that rascally dog.
I believe that most readers who have followed the ‘Deep Ops‘ series have been waiting for Wolfe’s story – I freely admit that he’s been on my radar since I first met him and his story went beyond what I was hoping for. ‘Broken‘ gives Wolfe the chance to shine on his own while dealing with his own need to avenge his military unit who were killed in the line of duty… when in reality their deaths were murder. It’s taken time but Wolfe finally has tracked down this vile villain – only to discover that he isn’t the only one out to see this filth pay for his actions. Dana has her own agenda which follows closely to Wolfe’s plans. She is following the trail of a fellow journalist’s murder – and the last person she expected to find was Wolfe. Now it’s in both of their interests to work together, and not blow either’s cover… right up until everything changed, and the rules don’t matter anymore.
I enjoyed every moment back in the ‘Deep Ops‘ world. Always fast-paced action, intriguing clues, the sizzling chemistry between Wolfe and Dana, and a plot that flows smoothly while always keeping me on my toes waiting for what happens next. And let’s not forget the absolutely most important character in this entire series… Roscoe. There are times when I think I follow this series just to run into this wild and crazy pup’s antics for he certainly steals every single scene he’s in. I adored Wolfe and Dana together. He’s a protector who rarely lets others see his softer side. He’s got issues, well-earned issues yet Dana’s strength and equally intense need to put things right is the perfect life partner for this man. I liked them individually and most definitely together. I had a blast with ‘Broken‘, and if you love a good, intense Romantic Suspense story then you’d love not only this story but the entire series if you haven’t yet started it. There’s more to come and I’m already anxious to get back to this world to discover what comes next for this team.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from Kensington Books via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Just finished reading Broken and I absolutely loved it! Wolfe is quirky and a loner, broken from losing his entire team in Afghanistan while suffering a TBI. He’s accepted by his entire team and his friend Dana. His friend…. Oh how the might have fallen. A sex club, some danger, sizzling chemistry arcing between them…and did I say danger? Lots of it!! Chemistry? Yesssss!
I loved the changing dynamics between Wolfe and Dana. Add to that Serena and Jethro, Angus and Nari, Pippa and Mal, Raider and Brigid! We cannot forget Kat, even though our adorable kitten is now starting to outgrow his pocket. Our hero just might be the alcohol guzzling, sugar addicted, shoe wearing (or chewing) Roscoe.
Roscoe had some pretty big moments! Lipstick, argyle, cake and a killer. Those are some heroic and exciting moments for a issue-riddled dog “loved” by an entire team of people. Go Roscoe!!!
I gotta say Broken had it’s stressful moments where I was on the edge of my seat, heart pounding. It had those sweet moments of whipped cream and sprinkles and a tenderness never before witnessed. It also had some highly satisfying moments of and whipped cream. Yeah, I know whipped cream sweet and sexy! I mean it’s Wolfe!! And that ending?! Not going to give away any secrets but it’s totally swoon-worthy!! Oh, Dana. I’m a totally jealous book boyfriend whore!! What can I say? It’s Wolfe!
Broken was so much more than I had hoped for. It’s 1am and I’m totally on a sugary Wolfe high with a very satisfying smile on my face.
Wow!! I still am in awe of the gift that Rebecca Zanetti has with her writing!! I could not wait for Wolfe & Dana’s book and I must say, it did NOT disappoint!! Zanetti has a way of writing her characters so you are drawn in quickly and can’t put the book down until you know what happens. Each of her characters are truly unique and it’s so easy to fall in love with them.. Wolfe is crazy and fun loving!! In my opinion he is almost like the rock or the glue that holds the team together (although he doesn’t think he is). The interactions between Wolfe and Dana had my heart fluttering and a smile on my face. This book has phenomenal characters, an insane villain, and is action packed. The entire Deep Ops series is a MUST READ!! It does not disappoint! I absolutely can not wait for the next book in the series!!
PS: I also ended up buying the audio version of the book… WOW!! I must say I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the story. I’m fairly new to audio books and some of them have made me cringe, this narrator does a great job and I loved it!!
While this is my first book by this author, it won’t be my last! I really enjoyed the suspense, the action, the characters (including the dog!), the banter and the sexual tension. I would have liked more background to the main characters but this did not detract from my enjoyment of the story. This information may have been introduced in the previous books since this is the third in a series but Broken can be read as a stand alone. I am definitely interested in more from this author.
I received an ARC from Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.
Broken is the first book I’ve read from Rebecca Zanetti but it definitely won’t be my last. This book is part of a bigger series. Even though I hadn’t read the previous books, I never felt lost or that I was missing out. Broken tells the story of Clarence Wolfe who is ex-military and currently part of a Deep Ops team and Dana, a spunky investigative reporter. Dana’s current story and Wolfe’s personal mission have them crossing paths and working together. From the very beginning, sparks are flying and tension is high.
This book reminded me how much I love Romantic Suspense. It was sexy, fun, tense at times and kept me engaged to where it was hard to put down. I really loved the whole Deep Ops team and am definitely wanting to read the stories in the series that have already happened as well as others to come. Plus, there’s a sweet, hilarious dog, Roscoe, that just has you laughing out loud.
Broken is a book I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a bit of action with their HEA. Fans of Pamela Clare would really enjoy this. Loved it!
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington for an ARC of this book. The opinions here are my own.
Broken is definitely an exciting and emotional addition to the Deep Ops series. If you read previous books in the series, you know that something was going to happen between Dana and Wolfe. But Wolfe has had his reasons for keeping Dana at a distance. It’s time for them to face the future together. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! You won’t be able to put it down once you start.
5 stars!!
Broken is a well paced, action driven addition to Deep ops. The story is compelling, the characters engaging and the premise dynamic, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to what comes next.
Broken by Rebecca Zanetti
Deep Ops #3
Lighter in some ways than the previous books this story still had plenty going on. Wolfe has been intriguing throughout the series with the kitten named Kat in his pocket that he takes with him everywhere. He has been strong and somewhat silent while providing super sweet coffee beverages with shipped cream and sprinkles. I was eager to read his story and hear who he would end up with. That said, though I enjoyed the story it was not my favorite of this series. I think the reason was that I didn’t feel the same depth to the story as I felt in the previous books.
What I liked:
* Wolfe: a giant of a man with lethal skills, a TBI to contend with, much loss in his life and a man who genuinely cares for his friends and team.
* Dana: dedicated to her job she will do just about anything for her job, as we saw in the first chapter. She assists the Deep Ops team from time to time, is trying to find out what happened to a friend/colleague and has definite interest in Wolfe.
* The team: a great collection of misfits that find their niche together
* The relationship that develops between Wolfe and Dana
* Dana’s family and the way they give a sense of what family and sisterhood is.
* That the bad guy was thwarted
What I did not like:
* The bad guy: truly evil and needed to be put down
* Being left to wonder what the story is with Lassiter BUT know that is the thread that hooks the team together in the end…or think it will.
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Yes
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Zebra for the ARC – This is my honest review.
4 Stars
An action pact, steamy romance with a deadly psychopath out to end them at all costs. Dana is working hard to figure out what happened to her bestfriend, following any and all leads where ever they take her. Life and death situations won’t deter her or convince her not to continue on, no matter how much Wolfe might wish otherwise.
Wolfe had been on the tale of his old team mate since he killed their entire team and stole the drugs they were supposed to dispose of. The ruthless psychopath will not stop until everyone Wolfe knows is used against him, which is why he refuses to get close to anyone. Those pesky feelings however can creep up on you no matter how much you wish they wouldn’t. Steamy, action pact thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat!
Dana and Wolfe have an interesting relationship and they both have a mission to complete. Little did they know that their missions were connected and everyone that was close to them could be in danger. There’s lots of action and suspense. I also love Roscoe and Kat.
Action packed, romance story with engaging characters.
Love Wolfe & Dana
The wait is over and what a ride. From the first page Wolfe and Dana’s story reels you in. There is Intrigue, mystery, passion, vengeance, loyalty and love. A page turner that will be read again and again. Clarence Wolfe has met his match in the feisty reporter Dana Mullberry. This story has it all. A strong, handsome, troubled Hero. A beautiful, self-sufficient, risk taking Heroine. A villain you love to hate. A family you want to make your own. If you haven’t started the Deep Ops series yet now is the time. You won’t regret meeting the team, especially Roscoe.
I think this is my favorite book of the series. Broken is such a fitting title for Wolfe and Dana’s story. I absolutely adore Wolfe and his quirks. He is so endearing and funny how can you not like him. I feel like this has a very action movie like quality about it. The suspense it continuously building with an epic final fight scene. I love the subtle plot twists and turns and cannot wait for the next one!
After reading Taken (Deep Ops #1.5), before I even got a chance to reads books #1 and #2, when I had the chance to request an advance reader copy of Broken (Deep Ops #3), I couldn’t wait to read it, and while I wish I’d started reading this series in the order it was written, it didn’t hamper my enjoyment of either novel. While I didn’t absolutely love Broken, quite as much as I did Taken, which I gave 5 stars, Broken was still a very good, very absorbing, very exciting, and very sexy read, and I’m giving it 4.5 stars.
Wolfe, the hero in this novel is a hard man not to fall in love with. He’s a big, he’s tough, he’s a scarred (if you’ve read any of my previous reviews you already know I have a thing for wounded warriors), ex-Navy SEAL, and he’s still not over losing all but two of his teammates in Afghanistan, and he has the PTSD to prove it. Now, separated from the service, and a member of the Deep Ops team, he wants to find the man responsible for those deaths, a man who was once part of his team but betrayed them all–someone I can only describe as a twisted, greedy, and evil sociopath. As bad guys go, this one is truly creepy and demented, and not someone I’d ever want to meet up with in a dark alley.
Dana, the heroine, is a feisty, independent, freelance journalist, and from the outset is obsessed with finding out who was responsible for the recent brutal death of her friend and fellow investigative journalist, Candy, who was working on an story about a very bad, very corrupt man, and one who was into the BDSM club scene. Dana and Wolfe surprisingly meet up at a very private, very exclusive BDSM club, Captive, posing as possible new members, and their attraction to one another, Wolfe in leather and Dana in not much more than a corset and mini-skirt, is off the charts. When their cover is blown and they have to leave in a hurry, the action, danger, adventure, mystery, steamy sex, and suspense kick into high gear. Kudos to Ms. Zanetti for rounding out these two characters with some backstory. They seem an odd couple from the start, and are often at odds with one another. Wolfe is usually in protective mode with Dana fighting against following his orders, but every time these two are in the same place at the same time the sparks start flying.
Add to the steamy relationship a truly interesting cast of characters in the Deep Ops team, including Roscoe, the alcoholic and sugar-addicted but protective German Shepherd, and I found it utterly impossible to find a single member of the Deep Ops team and their ladies who weren’t strong, supportive of each other, intelligent and fascinating. In addition we get to meet Dana’s family at her sister’s wedding in what can only be described as utterly hilarious–from the hideous bridesmaid dresses, to Roscoe’s shenanigans, disruptive and destructive behavior, and it was a really nice break in the action and suspense, as well as a chance to see Wolfe come out of his self-protective shell and see what a real family is all about.
There’s plenty of action, mystery, danger and suspense that follows and the book was almost impossible to put down, which is why I’ve been up all night reading the last quarter of this novel to get to the HEA ending, and why I am finishing writing this review at 6:00 a.m. If you’ve not read any of the novels in this series, I recommend starting at the beginning and reading these books in the order they were written, although I didn’t have a problem starting in the middle of the series. Frankly, I can’t wait to read book #4.
As previously stated, I read an advance reader copy of the novel. The opinions expressed are my own.
The author once again does an amazing job at drawing us into the Deep Ops world!! This is Wolfe and Dana’s story. This is the third book book of the series, I’ve loved Wolfe from the start he’s like the loveable teddy bear but yet you don’t want on his bad side. The story begins with them both being on a mission but they didn’t realize each other was working on. However they have worked together plenty of times as Wolfe helps Dana on her investigative stories and she supplies him with information on cases of his. They are just friends nothing more because Wolfe doesn’t want or need any distractions and he has his kitten KAT for companionship. However things don’t always work as planned. Overall amazing story can’t wait for the next one! Love this author!
Going yet again into one of these author’s books whom also has the ability to captivate me with the words. Drooling also happens alot with when reading Clarence at times yes indeed. He has his plans but then runs into Dana which then has this ramped up to another level. danger and drama along with the chemistry have you panting and paying attention to what is going on especially since they are going in deep. Hang on tight until the outcome comes through then maybe you can relax but most likely will be a book coma.
I realized this was not the first book in the series based on some conversations the characters were having, however, I never felt lost. I just knew I didn’t know all the details. Wolfe and Dana are a complementary pair. I liked their chemistry and the banter between them. Wolfe was quite the alpha male and he had always been a loan wolf himself. He didn’t want his personal life to bleed into his professional life. But he couldn’t deny the pull he had with Dana. Wolfe was also a protector. And Dana had gotten herself into quite a pickle! I enjoyed the mystery and danger of the things happening around them. These friends had to trust each other to get out of the mess they were in. I enjoyed the friends and family around them as well. I especially enjoyed Roscoe! This book had me on the edge of my seat and I really enjoyed the way this couple’s friendship evolved. Looking forward to go back and starting the series at the beginning.
I have been curious about Wolfe from the moment he showed up in the other books in the series. He is definitely broken and doesn’t feel as if he can be whole again. He is on a personal mission and won’t let anyone help because he believes it is a suicide mission. Dana has feelings for Wolfe but is trying to solve her own mystery. When these two get together it is hot and and sweet. One of my favorite things about this book series is the humor interjected in the story by the crazy drinking dog Roscoe. I really loved this addition to the series.
