Brody & Nick is a story as old as time. Marriage of convenience, friends-to-lovers, and a guy who needs to pull his head from his ass.

This is a low angst love story of a marriage of convenience turned into a HEA.
Brody is entering his final year in the army and is itching to live off base; however, in order to do this, he has to be married. One small thing, he is not married. No problem though he has a fix-he will propose to the roommate of his ex boyfriend with whom he has been sexting while deployed. Nick, the roommate of the ex, is also looking for an opportunity to get away from his housing situation. Looks like we have a win-win. Nick is scheduled to graduate at the end of the year and Brody only has a year left in the army. They will both save money with this arrangement then go their separate ways at the end of the year.
The fly in this perfect ointment is Brody’s homophobic C.O. The C.O. threatens to have charges brought against Brody id he is able to get proof that this is a sham marriage. Well not that means they have to up their game and start to act like a real couple outside of the bedroom. The “forced” public intimacy soon begins to feel more and more natural and then ceases to feel like role playing.
The majority of the story is very low angst, but toward the end the MCs reach a crossroads in their relationships and a choice must be made. This conflict forces the hand of the MCs to determine if they will chose to continue on their love path or go with their prearranged split.
What I liked:
• Alternating 1st person POV
• HEA
• Military
• Instalove
What I found confounding
• I found it hard to image how Nick had two jobs, went to school, and still had time to be in a relationship. Then at the end, he had three full-time jobs and a relationship? When did he sleep?
• The end seemed rushed to a sugary sweet conclusion.
• Very little interaction with the outside world beside Brody’s bf Addie

The only reason Brody and Nick get married is financial, it’s not for love. They both know what they’re getting into so what could go wrong. I really enjoyed this book.
Be careful what you ask for. Brody, is in the Army an has a year left on his enlistment. As a gay soldier, he faces a bit of harrassment from his CO. He plans on keeping his head down until his enlistment ends. Nick is a friend who is enrolled in school and volunteers at an animal shelter and a human shelter. He’s an activist who wants to improve the world. Brody comes up with a scheme to save money during his last year in the military. He and Nick are flirty friends who see the attractiveness in each other. Can they last a year as more than friends? What will the CO say? What happens after the year? Nick drags some heavy baggage that guides his life decisions. There are a few. bolders that are thrown into their plans. Can they overcome the challenges? Nice story. The guys are likeable characters. Nicely done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is sweet, romantic and entertaining. Brody is tired if living on base, so he comes up with a plan to get married, move off base and pocket the extra money he’d be getting. Nick is Brody’s ex’s roommate, and they had become friends. Nick hated living with Brody’s ex, so when Brody asked him if he was interested in the two of them getting married, Nick said yes. They decided that it wouldn’t be platonic, they had chemistry, do, why not? Neither planned to fall in love, but both did, dreading the day they would split. Brody is down on himself and stubborn, but still caring and sweet. Nick is confident, determined and caring. There’s a slow buildup of tension between them as the story progresses, and it comes to a head when their year is up. I loved everything about this book, the storyline, the main characters and the secondary characters. It’s a must read that you won’t be able to put down.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
A Workable Plan . . .
Army specialist Brody King is a soldier with one year to go on his military service. So he figures out a way to save money through a housing allowance, the only requirement being that he has to marry.
Nick Ferguson has one more year before college graduation and his new career. Knowing Brody through a common friend, and his lease ready to expire, he’s happy to accept Brody’s crazy plan. Will this somehow work out for them? Or will insecurities pull things apart?
This is the second book in this series Something About Him. This can be read as a standalone. The story was a bit slow for me in some places. The story was good, the characters are likeable and have great chemistry. Their marriage started out as fake but became real quite quickly. Overall a good book.
Brody and Nick marry for convenience and do the relationship from roommates to partners and lovers as they fall in love along the way. It’s a bit slow moving but I enjoyed reading their story. The author paints her scenes perfectly and delivers an entertaining read.

Brody was single so he couldn’t live off base like he wanted to. He asked Nick to fake marry him and could split the housing money but he still wanted to date others.but he fell in love with Nick. But then when things were right he goes to Stanton college in California, after a visit from his parents he realized he was wrong for leaving Nick. Nick and Addie did forgive Brody! Great book!
4 1/2 STARS
A.D. Ellis takes the reader on an emotional journey filled with low angst and lots of steam where two friends Body and Nick decide to opt for a marriage of convenience to get lower housing rates through Brody’s specialized service in the army and to get him off base for the remaining year left before he goes back to college, and Nicks remaining year in college before he graduates and pursues his dream.
Brody has a lot of emotional baggage regarding his past with his family coming out and choices they made regarding his studies leading him to join the army as an out and proud gay young man.
Brody and Nicks paths crossed when he dated Nicks roommate briefly and when he deployed they became fast texting/sexting friends which led to the decision of a marriage of convenience to get Brody off base and save money..
As all stories go regarding this trope it always leads to someone or both getting hurt in the process as feelings always do develop in such a close proximity of living together in a no strings attached relationship!
What happens after their year agreement expires?
Do they go their separate ways as friends or do they both want more?
Will the interference of a broody sassy southern mother and their best friend Addie help or worsen the situation?
It really was an emotional journey that showcases that the devotion and help from family and friends is always warranted.
Stubbornness and selfish pride can lead to bad decisions!
I felt the emotional pain of the characters and laughed and cried with them throughout their journey!
This is a book I can definitely recommend!

I loved this story! It was great to see a man who was so set in his ways realize that he needed someone and something in his life more then he ever thought. Brody thought all he needed Nick for was a convience until he left the army but man was he wrong. It was great to see their relationship grow and them see one another as so much more. Can’t wait for the next book!
I loved Brody and Nick. They got married to save on money and ended up falling in love. They had real-life struggles. and lots of passion! I really liked how they started out as friends first, and I loved how they fought to keep each other!

Friends Brody and Nick are both looking for a way to save money on their living arrangement, so – Bingo – they decide to get married and live together. What begins as a marriage of convenience becomes much more, and I really enjoyed the MCs and their sweet, emotional, pretty low-angst story. Add to the story one BFF, a zany Mom, a homophobic Army CO, some personal doubts and insecurities, mix well, and you have a great stand-alone MM romance.

Heartbreakingly beautiful. I love Nick. What a great character. Addie is a wonderful friend to both Nick and Brody. Brody destroyed me. Such a beautiful man with so much to overcome. You will laugh and cry through this whole book and at the end have a very satisfied smile.
