While each book in the Butler Ranch Series is a standalone with its own HEA, they may be more enjoyable read in order.

All I was supposed to do was give her the box Kade left for her. It had been over a year since my brother died. I had no idea she would rock my world and change it all at the same time. But this couldn’t be right, I mean was it too weird? He wasn’t Kade. This can’t be happening. What is wrong with me that I can’t get it right? How can this work?
I don’t even know how to explain what this book did to me. The emotions and confusion even the action, and Kade?? It’s mind boggling how this author can continue to put out these books that just bleed with emotion and not have the stories all feel the same. Each character touches you in a different way, each book moves you and this one will leave you battling as well and give you a darn good read in the process.
I loved this book! Can’t wait to read more in the series. This is a new author for me. I thoroughly enjoyed how she brought her characters to life. Brodie and Peyton’s story enthralled me and I want to read more of their HEA.
Brodie is a fabulous contemporary romance by Heather Slade. This is my first book by Ms. Slade but certainly won’t be my last. Brodie is a well-written book and the characters are lovable and fun to read. Brodie is still adjusting to his brother Kade being killed in battle. When he is tasked with delivering a package to Payton, Kade’s girlfriend, he’s attracted. Payton wants nothing to do with Brodie or the package. Their story is loaded with drama, humor and sexy bits. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Heather Slade soon. Brodie is book 1 of The Butler Ranch Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
When Brodie’s Mom tasks him with finding his late brother Kade’s girlfriend Peyton, he wasn’t looking forward to the task. His mother had made the promise to Kade, and because of that he would find her. Where he actually runs into her is surprising. Of all places he runs into her at the local supermarket. What he didn’t expect was her to refuse to accept anything from Kade.
Even her best friend Alex couldn’t believe she didn’t want any of the memories that would be given to her. The shock of seeing how much Brody looked like Kade was enough in itself.
After that initial run in, Brodie headed to Moonstone beach, a place where he had spent a lot of time with Kade. This time Peyton finds him and apologizes. Yet still refuses to accept what Kade left her.
It seems neither Peyton or Brodie can stop thinking about the other. The question is can this become a relationship?
Peyton has her sons to think of when it comes to introducing a man into her life. Kade’s death had affected them just as hard as her.
Aside from Peyton not wanting the box Kade left for her, there is plenty of things going on that are puzzling. Not the least of which is ‘Kade’ sightings.
Emotional, with laughs and tears and some sizzle as well.
Touching
This was a beautiful story about how a brother, Brodie, is trying to deliver a package from his dead brother to his ex girlfriend. His mom asked him to deliver it to Payton. She loved Kade and kept thinking she was seeing him when it was really Brodie. She doesn’t want the closeness and he has fallen for her. She is raising her two sons and doesn’t want to bring another man into their lives. Their father doesn’t have anything to do with them and Kade died.

I just finished this book and I need to take a small break from the emotional roller coaster. I loved this story. It’s the story of a few families in the wine industry. But specifically it is the story of Peyton & Brodie. Brodie is the brother of Peyton’s ex boyfriend Kade who was killed in the line of duty. He was in the military. She never met Brodie until he tried to give her a box that Kade left to her. She refuses it and the chase begins. It starts out as Brodie wants to fulfill the promise to his brother that it would be delivered to her. But that turns into more for both of them. While they try to fight it, they can’t. Peyton has been hurt by the only two men in her life that she has loved. The first is her ex husband Lang who decided he didn’t want to be a dad to their two sons. The second is Kade who died and left her in pieces. She soon finds out the love Brodie and her share isn’t like the others. He is her true love. But it takes her a while to see that. Miscommunication and almost tragedies get in the way.
This story was so much fun to read. It had me hooked. I just wanted Brodie and Peyton to see what was in front of them. A few times I wanted to reach into the story and shake them. They had me smiling at their warm & loving moments. And even the love scenes were sweet. It showed their bond and care for each other. But this story also had me in tears a few times. Like I said, emotional roller coaster. But it was well worth the ride. And this is the first book in the series. I am excited to continue on.
