The Family Brand
Brock was like the gate keeper, and followed his Uncle Graham with making sure everything ran smoothly. Jenna has been burned once and is going to do better this time with the book about the Blackthorne’s. They meet by accident over a cab in a storm, but it turns up old family history and a little love.
Proud of his Scottish roots and protective of his family’s whisky brand, Brock Blackthorne is a driven man. Jenna Gillespie’s job is on the line and she does not need a romantic entanglement complicating her life. This book, part of a multi-author series, can be read as a stand-alone and is full of St. Claire’s trademark humor, steam, and suspense. Highly recommend!
A story of mystery and romance.
I very much enjoyed this story, a lot of twists and turns that keeps you intrigued.
I think this is my favourite so far!
Brock is such a protector – of family, the brand, and now Jenna. Loved the intricacies of the storylines and the growth of the characters. A great read!
Brock is the quintessential Blackthorne. He is all about taking care of the family name. He is the PR master. Jenna Gillespie is on a mission to write a tell all book about the Blackthorne’s. She is trying to live down her famous parents. From the moment these two meet as strangers, sparks fly. When then meet at the appointed time, their backs are up. Along the way he is always trying to protect the name and she keeps looking for the secret. When the battle lines are drawn, what side is Brock on?
This has been my favorite Blackthornes book by far, it gave me some mystery I love in a book. With the way Brock and Jenna meet I knew where things were going. As things progressed with the store I got some suspense with Jenna and Brock’s fears it made for some fun. I liked Jenna she does what she has to get to the truth, she’s tough and keeps Brock on his toes. I liked Brock he his loyal to his family but yet he wants to get to the truth. I loved how he kept diverting Jenna and she still managed to get to the people he was diverting her from. I can say that made me laugh. I personally enjoyed Brock and Jenna. I read on Kindle Unlimited.
A new to me author that was part of a series that a few authors took part in was a real treat to see how they got all the characters to mesh when it was their turn to take a crack at one of the Blackthorne men. I am enjoying each of the books and feel that you could read them all as a stand alone but it is always best to read them in the order they are numbered. I cant wait to get into the next book.
Graham and Claire’s marriage troubles aside, this book was fantastic! I loved the mystery surrounding the family business and how interesting it was to find out the true story. Holy hell, this was worth reading for Brock and Jenna’s first meeting alone. Super hot!
Brock Blackthorne’s job is to protect and enhance Blackthorne Enterprises’ brand. During a thunderstorm, he encounters a beautiful, blonde-haired stranger. Brock discovers his one-night stand is the biographer sent to write a book about his successful family. Unwilling to part with Jenna, he agrees to her biography but with one major stipulation. When rumors about a stolen recipe resurfaces, Brock helps in Jenna’s investigation, only to settle the rumor for good. Can Brock and Jenna disprove the rumor? Will Blackthorne secrets stand in the way of their relationship?
Jenna Gillespie is the only child of an acclaimed investigative journalist and New York Times’ former editor in chief. She wants to salvage her career by writing an authorized biography about the Blackthorne family. To her surprise, Jenna learns the scruffily attractive man she spent the night with is Brock Blackthorne. She is not about to let Brock stand in the way of writing her book. Jenna decides to investigate the rumors behind the Blackthorne’s popular whisky recipe. Will Jenna’s biography unearth unnecessary family secrets? Can she help Brock put the rumor to rest?
Brock is an utter sweetheart. I love how he has a laid-back side. Brock is not afraid to be seen looking scruffy, especially when he is away from work. He is not the type of man who must always wear designer labels, thanks to his family’s success. I like how Brock never once ridicules Jenna over her phobia of storms. Instead, he sympathizes with her and tries to help her overcome it. What I adore the most about Brock is his steadfast dedication and pride in his family lineage. There are times when he comes across too obsessive in up maintaining the Blackthorne reputation.
Jenna is such an amazing and inspiration character. I admire her steadfast determination not to ride on her parents’ fame. Jenna would rather be recognized and acknowledged for her own talent than who she is related to. I like how she reciprocates Brock’s favor by helping him with his acrophobia. When his fear gets the best of him, she calmly talks him through the worst of it. What I like the most about Jenna is her work ethic. No matter how much Brock tempts her, she stands firm about not mixing business with pleasure. Jenna also refuses to lower herself down to her publisher’s level by writing something derogative about the Blackthorne family.
BROCK is book five in a multi-author collaborative series, 7 BRIDES FOR 7 BLACKTHORNES. Since I have not read the previous four books, I could not escape the feeling that I missed something important. However, that did not hinder my ability to follow the story. Couples from the prior books make an appearance in the story or are mentioned.
BROCK is a sweet and romantic tale of two people’s chance encounter and where their mutual attraction leads them. I really like the light mystery the author subtly wove into the story. It tempts me to delve into the other seven books.

What do thundershowers, whisky, rumors, love, loneliness, The Blackthorne Family, and a budding writer=? A great romance novel with a bit of mystery written by my favorite author, Roxanne St. Claire. Brock David Blackthorne, gatekeeper of the Blackthorne Brand meets Jenna Gillespie when they both happen to take the same cab. Jenna’s first of two contracted book proposals ended with the first one being a complete failure. Now Jenna has a second chance at a book proposal and wants very much to succeed. She is the daughter of a famous writer and a famous TV journalist.
When Brock returns to work in Boston he has a meeting with a writer and when it turns out to be Jenna, each are equally as surprised as the other. He gave Jenna his middle name when they met in the cab the night before and Jenna just gave her first name. They even made a date for the next night. This book is fun to read and is romantic. It makes me want to read the other Blackthorne books. Although, Brock is Book 5 of 7, I’d like to read about the brothers and cousins in this series. I love how they are connected and part of a big family. I received this book as an ARC and have chosen to write an honest review.

Brock by Roxanne St. Clair is book 5 in the series 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes written by six other amazing authors! Each book is a standalone but has an underlying story that connects to each book…
Brock Blackthorne, the keeper of the Blackthorne brand, protecting the family name, keeping any skeletons in the closet and the company’s reputation spotless. What he doesn’t expect is to see the beautiful woman he met and shared a cab with in a summer storm to be the same woman who wamts to write a tell all book about the Blackthornes, the stolen whisky recipe and the rumors that are abound…
Jenna Gillespie, biographer, the daughter of well known investigative journalists and who’s job, advance and reputation is on the line must discover some skeletons in the Blackthorne closet or lose everything.
Brock wants to keep her at his side to control what she writes but when she discovers a lead to the so called stolen whisky recipe he is determined to help her and prove once and for all the recipe is not stolen! Lots of laughter, chemistry, twists, turns, attraction and hopefully a HEA…
Logan by Samantha Chase is up next but we are still don’t have any answers to the underlying story…
Brock is the fifth book in the 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes series. Each title is written by a different popular romance author. Jenna Gillespie is sent to Boston to interview Brock Blackthorne for her book on the wealthy whisky producing family. Brock is the holder of the “Brand” for the family enterprises. While this book lacks the depth of characters in St. Claire’s other books (especially the Dogfather series), the mystery of the family recipe secret grabbed me. The story has good pacing and interesting settings. Several of the characters were entertaining especially Grandma Fiona . The actual mysterious secret of what provoked Claire Blackburn to leave the family is unanswered. A nice summer read.
Thoroughly enjoyed Brock and Jenna, a slow burning romance that will soon heat up the pages. Brock has the job to protect his family history and name, so when Jenna comes along to get the story of her life on the Blackthornes, Brock goes along with her. Soon much history and skeletons will come out of the closet along with the budding relationship of Jenna and Brock.
A fast paced story with lots of secrets, suspense and romance that will keep you turning the pages. This is part of a multiauthor series but each book can be read as a stand alone.
This is a emotionally thrilling, sexy, fun and engaging romantic journey filled with intriguing charters, witty banter, sizzling secrets and undeniable passion tested by family loyalty. Loved every heart-pounding, heart-breaking and heart-warming twist and turn!
Brock finds a woman worthy of the Blackthorne name
Brock returns to Boston after dealing with all things Phillip and when he leaves the office, he gets caught in a rain storm with a woman who intrigues him. One thing leads to another and while he awaits his first meeting of the day, he’s surprised when he learns it’s no other than Jenna, the woman he spent the night with
Jenna is very surprised when her morning meeting turns out to be Brock, the man she spent the night with Jenna, ever the professional, tells him why she’s there and gets an answer she never expected. Now, together they are looking into the one rumour, which has hung around like a bad odour, in regards to the recipe they use for their whisky
I’m really enjoying this series and I know there is still some more to come which I eagerly await Never read anything by Roxanne before, so this was a nice indulgence for me but it was a very enjoyable read
Brock David Blackthorne, one of the seven young members of the Whisky dynasty family, is the proud guard of the brand and will do anything to protect it and his family honor. Jenna Gillespie is a very inquisitive biographer, only child to a couple of famous and successful journalists, needs badly a good story after losing the credibility of her latest source days before the release of her previous work. After such a debacle, she decides to go after the story of the real origin of the Blackthorne Gold Wisky recipe, a generation old mystery and a possible mine of scandal and gossip which will satisfy her contractual obligations. She arrives in Boston earlier, to scout the area when she is trapped under a thunderstorm and a sexy, nerdy guy saved her from the elements. It’s insta- attraction for David and Jenna and imagine the surprise in waiting to both next morning when faced to their true identities and that they are on opposite sides of the story…or are they? Is the recipe property of the Blackthornes or is there more to the story?
Brock is a romantic suspense novel in proper St. Claire’s style. It is kind of a slow burn, full of sexy banter among the adventurous Jenna and the formal Brock/ playful David dotted with cameos from previous couples from the Blackthorne’s saga and vivid descriptions of urban and coastal Northeast. I fell in love with the whole of them but that never boring David with his eyeglasses is something special…now I need a drink.
As a fan of Roxanne St. Claire’ work , it is a treat to have another romantic suspense novel from you. Five shinning stars.
I received an ARC and these are my sincere thoughts; now let’s go and continue with the next Blackthorne to discover more secrets.
Totally enjoyed reading this book. Brock and Jenna are an interesting couple. Instantly attracted to one another and hook up for a night of passion. Not what I normally expect from a Roxanne St. Clair book, but it works with these characters in their context. Jenna was recently burned badly in her professional life by someone the lied to her. Now she meets “David” in a cab on a rainy night in Boston, only to find out in the morning that it was really Brock Blackthorne the head of Brand Management for Blackthorne Whisky. Brock is the man who can give her the access that she needs to write a tell-all book about the interesting Blackthorne family. The question is will he really give her access, and can she trust him after he lied to her when they first met? What follows is a whirlwind adventure for the two that has them both facing their greatest fears as they learn to trust one another. But will the “secret” tear them apart and tarnish the Blackthorne name? Roxanne writes stories that convey a love of family and opportunity for both the hero and heroine to overcome some areas of personal growth. She makes reading an joy.
I did receive an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. The opinions expressed in this review are solely my own and are in no way influenced by the writer.
Another wonderful story by Roxanne St. Claire! Brock is another Blackthorne man who has fallen fast and hard for the new woman who has walked into his life. Brock and Jenna have instant sizzling chemistry the moment they meet. Their story has romance, mystery, and humor with a touch of suspense that makes it the perfect read. I loved both of these characters and their story from the first page to the last!
Wonderful story!!
Love the interactions between Brock and Jenna. Both trying to keep up with family values and traditions while finding their own place.
A must read for this series.
Wow, this 5th book of the series is intense! We get to watch as Brock heads back to Boston from King Harbor. We get to see how he feels about it. Is it easy or does he hate it? What is Brock’s job within Blackthorne Enterprises? What are his dreams? Who is Jenna? What is she doing in Boston looking to meet with Brock? What happens when it starts raining and David and Jenna agree to share a cab? That was so funny watching what happens. What secret is Claire tired of keeping? Do we find out in this book? What rumors surface, again, about Blackthorne Gold Whisky? Who is Ollie? What stunt does he pull? Who are the Platts? What cold case does Jenna help solve? How? Read and see!
