Loved this book and the entire series so far…Brock is such a hottie but he has met his match. I do have to say those Blackthorne me are something else. But so is Jenna!!!
Brock, you delicious suit wearing-rule following-Blackthorne man. The attraction was instant – on both Jenna’s and my ends. I loved Roxanne’s easy style of writing which made this one of my favorite Blackthorne books yet.
Brock; the man in the suit who is all about the Blackthorne brand. David; comfortable in cargo shorts and loves his family. Brock David Blackthorne is the ultimate fantasy. The Clark Kent/Superman kind of book boyfriend who easily puts on his suit to do good for his family, then is able to put on his glasses and become the nerdy escort to help out Jenna even when she gets herself into a big pickle. This is my kind of kryptonite when it comes reading…super big sigh over sexy, nerdy Brock.
Brock Blackthorne is a hard worker, loves his family and doesn’t sleep around and the few weaknesses he has are extremely adorable. It’s easy to see why Jenna Gillespie falls for the man so quickly or at least the Clark Kent version of the man. Their backwards relationship is full of chemistry and adds to the ultra sizzle that makes this story really pop.
The overall Blackthorne arc has centered around a secret that perhaps went back to the beginning of the family legacy, but this story in particular really dug around in the history of the Blackthornes giving it an element of suspense and mystery which was a nice bonus.
Jenna Gillespie is a writer who is there to write a kind of “tell all” book on the Blackthorne’s. Brock, who is the gatekeeper for anything that touches the Blackthorne name, gets the final say on what Jenna would publish, but given the night they spent together (where neither one knew who the other was) makes Brock even more territorial than normal. He is also concerned given the events surrounding his aunts recent departure that Jenna could upset the Blackthorne business if her questions create a feeling of instability while digging for clues or whatever she’s looking for in writing her book.
Brock may find Jenna extremely attractive, but he will always put his family first. He decides to stick close to Jenna and monitor her to sideline anything that could be harmful before it becomes a problem. The fact that she’s beautiful and could end up in his bed again is just a potential bonus.
This story was a fantastic addition to the overall series and with only two more books to go, it definitely made me anxious to see how everything turns out for the Blackthorne family.
This is the first book I have read from this author and the first in this series. The Blackthornes are quite the family. This was a very interesting book. It grips you with a very interesting storyline and two amazing characters right from the start. Then the whole storyline is full of suspense, twists, turns and romance. Jenna is on town to get the story of the Blackthorns. But she doesn’t want just any story. She wants the one that is going to make it or break it for her. The one that is going to change her future. She runs into Brock her first night in town but he lies to her about who he is. The next day she finds out and there is hell to pay. But Brock agrees to give her the chance to get information to get her story. That is when this really gets interesting because Jeanna is on the hunt for a secret. Supposedly the secret recipe for whisky was stolen. Jenna is determined to find out the truth. But will it destroy her building relationship with Brock? I loved this one. I cant wait to read the rest in this series about the other Blackthorns. A great book from beginning to end
First off I have to say these Blackthorne men are really melting my heart and just when I think this is the one another brother or cousin’s story comes out and that’s it’s I’m head over heels for the latest Blackthorne to hit my kindle. Brock Blackthorne’s Book is a little bit different in as much as it has a lot more mystery and suspense in the story and once again it’s a page turner.
Brock Blackthorne is the man in charge if protecting the families branding and the family name, it’s his job to keep the skeletons hidden so when Jenna Gillespie comes to him wanting to do a biography on the family it goes against everything he believes in. Jenna Gillespie’s job is on the line she needs this story what she doesn’t need is the feelings she has for the swoon worthy Blackthorne taking her around the family estate……As this couple uncover secrets they grow closer and their feelings come to the surface but they need to get past a few obstacles before finding their HEA.
This series is very unique and Brock is a great addition to a great series, it’s an emotional read that’s also sweet and it’s got the perfect mix of humour and drama. Loved it and can’t wait for book 6
Love the way these characters meet in the rain. What a great storyline. Brock (David) and Jenna make such a complete couple. Their adventures are exciting and the twists really kept me reading until the very end. My only complaint was that I wish it had gone on and on. I was so wrapped up in this family’s story. Looking forward to to the next book in this series. So far this book is my favorite!
This is another great read by Roxanne St. Claire. The chance meeting of Jenna and Brock turns out to be pretty complicated when they each discover who the other is the following morning. Jenna is a writer wanting to found out all the secrets in Brock’s family, while Brock is at first determined to give her nothing to write about. Her career hangs in the balance, but Brock’s family’s past and present hang in the balance. What they shared the night before is certainly going to complicate things for both of them.
St. Claire writes wonderful characters, engaging plots and does sexy better than anyone I know. She is a one click author for me. I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve written by her…and that’s quite a lot!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
5 Star review Brock (7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes #5) by Roxanne St Claire
I have to say that I am really enjoying this series about the Blackthorne men and the women that capture their hearts. Each story is written by a different author and I love the diversity of the stories and the writing, with each author capturing the heart of the men they are writing about.
This time it is Brock and Jenna Gillespie’s story and I was captivated from the first chapter.
Brock seems to me to be the most serious one of the group, tasked with managing the Blackthorne Brand. Brock will do anything it takes to keep the family name and brand protected; after all the Blackthorne’s have a reputation going back generations to uphold. When Jenna, an investigative journalist tells him that she is doing a story on his family and his family’s whisky recipe, Brock decides that he needs to keep a close eye on her.
The attraction and chemistry between Brock and Jenna is there from their first meeting and it only grows throughout the story. What will happen when secrets long buried are revealed?
This is a well written, funny, romantic, passionate read and can be read as a stand alone. However having said that, this group of men have become a favourite series of mine this year, so why not one click them all. Brock was an entertaining read, with twists and turns that are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Who will be forced to give up everything for the sake of love? One click and find out.
What starts out as a brief encounter in the rain turns in to a night of passion, but when true identities come into the game both Brock and Jenna are left wondering what feelings are real. It does not help that she has been commissioned to right a tell all book on the Blackthorne family and all of it’s hidden secrets. When push comes to shove and more layers of the Blackthorne’s history are revealed, Jenna realizes the true reason that the Blackthorne’s are successful and it has nothing to do with how much whisky they sell. In a continuation of the series this book once again catches the reader form the opening pages. Each brother/cousin is so different that the rest ans it is such a joy to watch the mighty men fall.
Brock is the perfect end of summer read. A bit of mystery, a lot of romance, and a writer at the top of her craft. St. Claire hits each beat perfectly as she brings Brock and Jenna together.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
This is book 5 of this multi-author series but even though this is the first one I have read of this series I was not lost at all. This is a very close family of brothers and cousins who are committed to the Blackthorne name and it is Brock’s job to protect the brand. What is he going to do when he meets Jenna who is writing a book on their family and her research may end up bringing down the family? This was such a great book and so much fun! Definitely can be read as a standalone. I highly recommend!
This series tells us stories about the 7 Blackstones brothers and cousins of the whisky dynasty. Brock and his brothers were taken in by their uncle and aunt when their parents were killed in an airplane accident.
Now an adult, Brock aims to always maintain the Blackstone name and reputation clean.
Jenna Gillespie, a journalist, has been assigned to write a tell all story about the Blackstones and find any of their “dirty” secrets.
Their first meeting was unexpected and their second one , even more surprising. But both, though attracted to each other, are still dubious about the other. One wants to hold on to the family’s name and keep it clear of any defamation, and the other one is looking for redemption.
The story was entertaining filled with some mystery and romance.
I have to confess, even though it’s a stand alone in the series, I did feel I was missing something by not having read the previous books. Those couples make an appearance in the story and as a reader, we are suppose to know their story as well. Still, it’s a good story.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinion expressed are solely my own.
Brock is book 5 in the multi-author story of the Blackthorne men and the women who turn their lives upside down. Brock is a captivating continuation of the story of the serious men whose lives revolve around family, whisky, boating, entertainment, and philanthropy. Roxanne St. Claire does an excellent job of continuing the story line while giving us the delightful tale of Brock and Jenna. Brock is all about the branding of Blackthorne Whisky and he’ll do anything to keep that image untarnished. Jenna is out to redeem herself and her future as an author with hopes of uncovering some big secret to write a best seller about the Blackthorne family. Both were caught off-guard by the chemistry between them, and both struggled with how that might impact their individual goals and ambitions. Add in a family secret or two, and I had trouble putting it down. Reading previous books in the series isn’t essential, because Roxanne St. Claire does a nice job of giving enough back story details for this book to make sense. A very good series and this book is a great addition!
