From New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan comes a flirty new standalone about falling for your older brother’s best friend. There’s pretty much only one rule when you’re a guy.Don’t be a douche.Turns out, the fastest way to break that rule is to fall for your best friend’s sister.Ava’s brilliant, sharp-tongued, gorgeous, and five years younger than me.She’s the sexual equivalent of … younger than me.
She’s the sexual equivalent of running with scissors. In a word, she’s dangerous. And completely off-limits.
Falling for her could ruin everything.
Yet I can’t seem to stop, even when her company is threatened by a lawsuit, and my promotion hinges on representing the opposing client—and winning.
I can’t see a way out of this mess that doesn’t end in a broken friendship, a broken heart, or a ruined career.
I may have broken the bro code when I fell for Ava. But do I have the balls to handle what comes next?

Ava&Barrett have had a thing for each other since forever. I loved the fact that he saw here for more than just a pretty face. I loved how they tried to stay from each other even when they deep down knew it was no use in denning how they feel for one another. The only problem I had with Barrett is that he should have come clean before when truth was revealed. But the ending redeem him so all is good in the world. 🙂
Yet another quick, fun and sexy read by Kendall Ryan . She always manages to create story that sucks you into it and you have to read it in one sitting. And this story was no different. I’m a big fan and can not wait to read more.

A sweet, sexy and humorous brother’s best friend romance with new twist and a lot of pull…
Why? Why did I have to read this book so fast? I feel like I did myself a disservice. Every time I go into one of Ms. Ryan’s book I get the same shot of excitement…thrill that has me on the edge of my seat feast as quickly as I can on her delicious words. And boy did I feast on this story. Bro Code is everything you could possibly want from a brother’s best friend romance and more. I was hooked from the off and quite frankly I couldn’t put it down.
From the moment I read the blurb I was sold, and not just because I love the whole kind of forbidden brother’s best friend trope. There was just something about the characters that made me want to read. And when I finally went in I struggled to put it down when I needed to. It was just so, so, so freaking good. I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through. The twists are so brilliantly orchestrated and even though it never feels like too much or over the top they just give the trope new depth and zing. The writing as always was verging on flawless and the plot and character development is nothing if not delightful. Have I said that I loved this book so much that I think I may actually have a Barrett and Ava addiction? Oh, and I could not put it down. I couldn’t stop reading. I couldn’t stop swooning. I just aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh. I love it. Love it. Love it. LOVE. IT.
Of course, the story wouldn’t have been half as good if the characters weren’t likeable. No lovable. Screw it, they were just amazeballs. From the protagonists to the secondary characters, it was just an insanely brilliant cast. Ava and Barrett were leading perfection. They were both more than lovable and although they each had their moments of WTF, they were brilliant. I cannot stop swooning and drooling over them. Okay, so Barrett’s bro code argument was aggravating at times and I’d be lying if I said that there weren’t moments that I didn’t want to slap him with a cold, wet, slimy, smelly fish…a massive one, but he was too sweet and sexy to begrudge. I love him, and I know Kelly over at Readers Together has claimed him and all, but…
Ava, well, I just loved the fracking pants of her. She is everything you want in a heroine—strong, feisty, sweet, grounded and determined. I liked that she had balls and that she didn’t run at the first sign of conflict. I really liked that the way she handled things was straightforward and no nonsense. It gave their relationship the push and pull that made it real and raw and so, so, so very sweet. Their interactions are so honest and raw. It just gave then so much draw. It also made their chemistry palpable and breathtaking at times. Saying that, this a romantic comedy and believe me, there are moments that are just insanely humorous. I loved their banterful give and take is nothing short of wonderful. Just freaking wonderful.
I really can’t stop raving about this book. I just want more. More of Ava. More of Barrett. In fact, I’d love to have more Nick and I’d love to get his story. It would just tick all my more boxes. Including more of their parents! This is just one of those books that will make your blood race and will make it impossible not to smile!
Barrett has returned home to be with his best friend and his family for a retirement party. His hotel room is a no-go so he’s staying under the same roof as his best friend’s sister, Ava. One look at her luscious body and he knows he’s a goner. No matter how much he tries to resist her, he can’t help himself. He’s falling for her and no matter how much he utters the bro code, he’s in way over his head. When Barrett’s best friend finds out, he’s going to rip away the only family Barrett’s ever known.
I love a good forbidden romance. I mean, who hasn’t fantasized about your siblings’ friends? Barrett is the perfect hero in this taboo romance. He’s a little jaded to the whole romance thing but with Ava, he lets down his walls. Sure, he’s older but that only adds to his appeal. The best thing I love about him is how much Ava’s brilliant mind turns him on.
Kendall Ryan is one of my all-time favorite romance authors. In this standalone, she delves into brother’s best friend romance. The romantic tension, kissing and petting scene made me quiver with anticipation. The conflict is a little on the heavy side but there’s such a swoon-worthy happily ever after that it made the conflict worthwhile.
Run, don’t walk, and pick up the romance today! You’ll fall in love with Barrett and Ava, just like I did.
My Rating: 5 stars
I really enjoyed this story. Barrett and Ava kept me in stitches. Kendall Ryan is one of my favorite authors. Will be reading it again.
This book was so freaking good!!! I couldn’t put it down!
This is about Barrett and Ava. They’ve known each other since childhood because Barrett is Ava’s brothers best friend!
Barrett Wilson has a problem. A successful attorney, living his best life in the city, he is visiting his hometown and realizes he has a problem. He is a follower of the Bro Code and among the most important rules, “don’t sleep with your bestfriend’s little sister”and it is proving to be most difficult for him. The reason is Ava Saunders. One look at his bestfriend’s little sister and it was over. But with one weekend of heated looks and touches, they realize they both want to explore their chemistry. But when a work conflict arises, will they both realize there is more at stake here than their careers?
I think this is one of the best books I have read by this author
Another amazing 5 stars!!! You will love Barrett & Ava!
Audio review from 2018
I finished this book and loved it!!!
Kendall knocks it out the park yet again!!
The ending was epic and adorable and swoooonnn worthy!!
This is my first read by Kendall Ryan and I will definitely be checking out more of her books. This book was such a fun read (listen)! It was sexy, consuming, had you on the edge of your seat, and also laughing a ton.
Ava Saunders is beautiful, strong, determined, caring, and hard working. She cares about the business her father started and wants to keep it standing, not only for him, but for the people who work there too, even when everyone around her thinks she’s wasting her time. She doesn’t let corporate men come in and push her around; she stands her ground on what she wants and doesn’t cower. Ava has had eyes for her brother’s best friend for years, and when he ends up under their roof for a long weekend, her childhood fantasy might just come true.
Barret Wilson is a hotshot lawyer climbing his way up to partner at the firm he works at in Chicago. He works long, tiring days, but is determined on his goals. He hasn’t been home for years, but when he gets invited to his best friend’s Nick’s dad’s retirement party, he can’t not show. They were more like a family to him than his own and he owes it to them. When he arrives, he doesn’t expect to spend the weekend under the same roof with Nick’s younger sister, Ava… The girl he’s liked for years but never acted on because ‘bro code’ and all. Will Nick be able to continue keeping Ava at a distance, or will he throw the code out the window and finally go for it?
The story line is good and it’s edited well, but I had a hard time getting through it. It came across, to me, as “young” even though the h is 24 and the H is 30. The thoughts and dialogue just seemed more teeage to me. The story seemed to drag.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A beautifully written story, amazing red hot chemistry and funny, independent, strong characters make Bro Code a perfect “best friend’s little sister” romance.
Ava’s very focused, loyal, super hard working and lately she has no time to have fun or date. She is now facing a lot of work pressure after a significant change in her life and she’s home again, trying to make her dad proud of her. She had a huge crush on Barrett, her brother’s best friend, when she was younger, but she also thought he never really looked at her, even though he was always sweet with her as they were growing up. But Barrett is going to spend a few days in her parent’s house, where she’s staying too, and now that she realizes that their attraction is mutual, all bets are off, Bro Code be damned.
Barrett is just as focused and hard working as Ava, he’s trying to make partner at the Chicago law firm where he works, so he is pulling crazy hours and his personal life has taken a back seat. Nick, his best friend, invited him to his father’s retirement party so Barrett returns home, where he ends up spending time with Ava and their chemistry is driving him so crazy… But she’s his best friend’s little sister and he has to stick to Bro Code… right?
Ava and Barrett are absolutely perfect together, their banter is fantastic, I liked that they were both independent, hard working and witty. I absolutely loved how Barrett adored Ava’s parents and how he considered them his family too, I think that, even more than Bro Code, his love for her family was the main reason that he tried so hard to resist his feelings. I was very surprised by the drama and tension added in the story, I was expecting for a different angst source due to this trope and I was pleasantly mistaken, loved the fact that I didn’t see it coming!
Bro Code is a very entertaining, fast paced, steamy, sweet read, with funny, fierce characters and the perfect amount of angst, family moments and love.
Kendall Ryan had me on the tip of my stool from the first word.
Bro Code is sweet and hot and had me feeling all kind of emotions.
Definitely a must read!
I am in this weird semi book slump at the moment. I am spending more time searching for my next book than actually reading. So I was pretty excited when I finally got excited about reading Boyfriend for Hire. Then I realized I didn’t have it on my kindle so I checked out Amazon and saw it was $5. Then I talked myself out of buying it.
I have a habit of one clicking books then not being in the mood to read them. Proof of that is that I have over a thousand books on my kindle and since a few of them are previous Kendall Ryan titles I talked myself into reading one of them. And honestly I think that was a mistake.
Ava was a little too perfect. And Barrett was a little too focused on the wrong things. I did feel their chemistry and that was pretty much all I felt. They kept saying how they couldn’t be together while being together. They literally put up zero fight. Even if I felt their reasons were stupid they kept throwing them out like confetti while still doing whatever they wanted.
I probably would have enjoyed this if I read it at a different time but since I’m an idiot and it wasn’t what I was in the mood to read it just didn’t work out for me today. So now I’m going to suck it up and spend the $5 I should have done in the first place, if I don’t get distracted along the way.
A fun read with great characters and a good storyline.
My first book by this author, but definitely not my last. I’m giving this 4 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.
Dual POV is usually a hit or miss for me, but I really liked seeing both sides to this love story. The writing was great, and this could have been 5 stars…but a few things held me back. I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll just say that I wasn’t surprised by the “twist”, and I was pretty annoyed when it happened. And another thing that bothered me was the constant discussion about the size of him. It felt like it was brought up every other chapter.
I did like Ava and Barrett overall. The conversations and teasing these two engaged in due to being close for so many years was entertaining to read. And I absolutely loved how Barrett was with Ava’s entire family! The romance was a little too instalove for me; even if they’ve known each other forever, it felt rushed. I wanted to see more of her family’s reaction at the end, because while most of the story focused on these two, we saw a lot of her family in the beginning. The epilogue was cute, if a little unrealistic.
The book was a quick read, and I enjoyed it a lot. I can’t wait to read the backlist books from this author…and anything new she comes out with! I highly recommend this for people who love brother’s best friend romances, or even friends to lovers romances.
It’s simple. The Bro Code outlines the rules for interacting with your best friend’s little sister. Don’t look. Don’t touch. Definitely don’t kiss. Anything more…that’s definitely out. Now, if Barrett could only remember that when he looks at the determined, funny, intelligent woman that Nick’s little sister Ava has grown into. One chance encounter might just lead to more heat than they can handle. Sweet, charming characters, lots of tension, and an incredibly satisfying happily ever after make the Bro Code another great read from Kendall Ryan
This review is for an ARC and is my unbiased, honest opinion.
Whew!!!! I needed to have 4 fans going to read this book lol!!! It was HOT!! Such a steamy read. This was my first book by Kendall Ryan and I really enjoyed it!! I’ve been big into “forbidden romances” here lately and this was the perfect read for that! We have brother and sister Nick and Ava. Nick’s best friend Barrett was always hanging around, preferring their house to his own growing up. With a 5 year age gap, nothing happened between Barrett and Ava. They had a crush on each other but never acted on it. I love how they had the base of a friendship and a camaraderie before they started a romantic relationship. I think it’s always a good idea to have that base before starting something deeper.
I absolutely loved Ava’s family. They were this down to earth, super tight knit family. Think family dinners every night with a home cooked meal and everyone gathered round the table. I could picture every scene and almost smell the meal as it was being prepared. This story had a real small town vibe to it, which I really enjoyed. Ava was taking over a factory that her father had owned and operated for several years. He was no longer able to do so because of health reasons. We see Ava trying to jump into this new ownership role and juggle all the things that come with that. While also trying to keep her feelings for Barrett under wraps.
Ava and Barrett were so adorable. I loved their flirting and teasing ways. It was the cutest……and steamiest scenes. I will say, I enjoyed the second half of the story more so than the first half. I like to have a story along with my romances instead of just sexy times. The first half had quite a few of the steamier scenes with not a lot of story to go with it. The second half more than made up for it though. I really liked this story and can’t wait to pick up another book by this author.
Loved it!
Audiobook version:
Kendall Ryan is a rock star- She writes with the perfect amount of heat, sass and sexual tension. I love the burning build up she manages to pack into her stories. It makes you really feel the chemistry while the characters are sizzling the pages away.
Ava and Jacob were beyond fantastic. I loved their performance and would hands down listen to anything else with their names on it no questions asked. They not only brought the characters to life but had some of the most audibly pleasing voices i have ever heard. An absolute pleasure to listen to.
Loved every second of it!
I love Kendall Ryan books. This one is no exception. These two characters have great chemistry, in the bedroom and out. It’s steamy, sweet, and you can feel the love between the hero and heroine.
I love Kendall’s books, all I’ve read I’ve loved!
