3.5 stars I loved Alec but Sheilagh was so annoying a lot. For someone as intelligent as she was said to be- it didn’t translate to the page. She was always running away and being the one who let others treat her any kind of way. She was so immature. I did love her battles with Wesley. I did like when she went home and the cameos of the McCullough family. I do like how the writer incorporated great literary works into the story.
Faking It is Book 4 in the McCullough Mountain series and with each book I read I love this series more and more. This book is about Sheilagh & Alec. Sheilagh is the youngest of this loud brash, in your face Irish McCullough clan. In the other books she comes off as a confident, bold, strong wild child. But you come to find in this book that she was not like this at all. Sheilgh is really sad, and lonely. She was only putting on a face that she thought was how everyone thought about her. After being forced to go to college (Princeton) she meets Alec her Philosophy professor. Alec forces her to look into herself. I love the chemistry between these two and the way they guided each other to be better people was great. Even though there was a big age difference it didn’t really matter because when you meet your true mate age just doesn’t matter.
The McCulloughs are a clan like no other. It is no surprise the baby of the family is extraordinary! Sheilagh is a woman who is finding her footing in the world. She has all the self doubts that we all have BUT hers are hidden under her layer of shine. We all need to find not only ourselves but the one who sees the good and bad in us and loves us anyway. Beautifully written story of many hills and dales on the road of life.
Totally outstanding… Admitantly i struggled to get my head around the story plot to begin with but once i did i found sheilagh’s story a great insight to the real person behind who you get glimpses of in the other McCullough books. Lydia Michaels never fails to know how to capture a reader into wanting to know more, give in depth insight to each charecter and the story itself. Would Recommend to everyone.
Lydia Michael’s is amazing! I have to say that I cannot get enough of this family! Sheilagh’s story feels different, though. Lydia’s writing shows how the mind influences behavior in so many ways. As Sheighlagh learns more about herself, she actually breaks open and reflects upon the psyche of each her brothers and pseudo-brother, which is very insightful. This story is painful, heartbreaking, happy, romantic, hysterical, and so many other feelings at different places. I am soooooo looking forward to getting some peeps, too!
This story is emotional touch so many triggers for me. Lydia has a way of writing that can gut your heart out with a spoon knowing it will only hurt more. This family is a hot mess!
