Please note: This book was previously published as Dear Bridget I Want You. Only the title and cover have been changed. All other content remains the same. From the New York Times Bestselling authors of Stuck-Up Suit and Mister Moneybags, comes a new, sexy standalone novel.Dear Bridget,I’m writing this letter because it’s highly doubtful I’ll ever garner the courage to say this to your face. So, … this to your face.
So, here goes.
We’re totally wrong for each other. You’re the proper single mum with a good head on your shoulders. I’m just the carefree British doctor passing through town and temporarily living in your converted garage until I head back to England.
But here’s the thing… for some bloody reason, I can’t stop thinking about you in very inappropriate ways.
I want you.
The only reason I’m even admitting all of this to you right now is because I don’t believe it’s one-sided. I notice your eyes when you look at me, too. And as crass as I appear when we’re joking around about sex, my attraction to you is not a joke.
So, what’s the purpose of this note? I guess it’s a reminder that we’re adults, that sex is healthy and natural, and that you can find me just through the door past the kitchen. More specifically, it’s to let you know that I’m leaving said door cracked open from now on in case you’d fancy a British bedmate in the middle of the night sometime.
No questions asked.
Think about it.
Or don’t.
Whatever you choose.
It’s doubtful I’ll even end up sliding this letter under your door anyway.
–Simon

Just not my cup of tea.
This was a fun read. I loved Bridget and Simon as they found their HEA.
This writing duo continues to amaze me with the stories they write and the characters they create. This story is full of laughter, love, and extremely HOT moments. You do not want to miss these incredible characters and their journey.
This is quite a sweet story. A sweet story with a dirty talker for a main male character.
I enjoyed this read, I really did. But the story won’t stick with me. It’s a perfectly fine rom-com with a little bit of everything to appeal to the masses but not a lot to make it stick out. There’s a beautiful widow with a cute son. There’s a Brit with abs for days. There’s dirty talk and sexual tension that eventually leads to some well-earned nooky. And after a bit of angst, there are professions of love. And then there’s more angst. What’s not to love right?
For me, the average reads are the hardest to review. I liked the story well enough, but the intrigue didn’t really pull me in. But the thing is, I know there are many who will love this book, and that’s perfectly understandable. It’s very well written with interesting characters. The storyline is good and there’s an awesome plot twist – kudos to Ward and Keeland. But the story simply didn’t really speak to me and I can’t explain why since, on paper this is the perfect rom-com.
Even though I loved Bridget’s character immediately, Simon was a harder pill to swallow. The fact that he started talking dirty to her during their very first meeting, while acting as her physician, felt sort of creepy. I’m sure it was intended to be sexy, but to me it just came off as seriously lewd and inappropriate. So he had some redeeming to do in the next chapters which I’m sure wasn’t the intention of the authors.
The way Bridget and Simon danced around each other was nicely described. And the increasing tension and chemistry between them was as well. The plot twist was great but in retrospect I’m a bit conflicted about it. The initial shock-value was through the roof so story-wise it was a win. But now – trying to avoid any spoilers – I’m thinking it was maybe an easy out for Ward and Keeland to justify Bridget moving on with her new love.
Either way. This is a perfectly fine read that will be adored by so many readers. Just not by me. But it was an acceptable pastime with a HEA so there aren’t any reasons not to read it.

When I downloaded this book, I did realise that it would be steamy. However, I stopped reading about one-third of the way through due to the vulgar nature of the language expressed by Simon in particular. As a doctor meeting a patient for the first time, I felt he was way out of line and I was very uncomfortable with this book. It definitely needs to come with an age restriction. I received a promotional copy of this book and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I have no idea why it took me so long to read British Bedmate, I absolutely loved this one and am soooo mad at myself for waiting this long. Since I’m just coming off from reading Dirty Letters, it seemed like a great time to finally knock this one out.
The way that Bridget and Simon meet was absolutely comical and it was just the cherry on the top when they find out that they’re going to be roommates! Seriously, how can you not love a story like that?!
Simon is a British doctor that was exactly how I expected him to be. Vi and Penelope definitely write some sexy heroes that we can’t help but fall in love with. He was sooo funny and a bit inappropriate, but I didn’t mind it one bit.
I loved that once we get past the funny and light moments, we dive deeper and really see the heartfelt moments between them and sometimes with Bridget’s son.
If you’re looking for a hot doctor read, look no further than this one!
The unexpected twists in the story made it more. I enjoyed this.
My day job is in healthcare, so I loved this storyline from their hilarious first meet-cute in the ER, not as doctor/nurse but as doctor/patient, to their undeniable attraction both while living and working together. As a mom, I can understand Bridget’s hesitancy in starting a relationship with Simon, who was only there temporarily while finishing up his residency and likely returning to England afterward, but when she finally gave in to the attraction, the chemistry was so hot and my heart melted with how Simon interacted with her son. Another solid read.
Oh my goodness – I loved this book! Simon is funny and sexy and such a bad boy in all the best ways. Bridget is so real – a beautiful friend, a mom and a caretaker. Their story has everything I love in a good romance: humor and hilarity, lots of emotion that makes you feel like you know these people, a cute kid, and a love story that makes you believe in fate. The additional cast of characters in the story add depth and texture to an already great story. HIGHLY recommend.
Hilarious Romantic Comedy!
Wonderful racy dialogue had me in stitches (no pun intended). Loved the chemistry and dynamics between the characters. Great HEA! Enjoy!

What can I truly say that I haven’t already said when it comes to a book written by two of my all time favorite authors. This book was another AMAZING book!!!
Filled with humor, sexual tension, some heartache, and a HOT British Doctor, this book sucked me in from the very beginning. As always, it just amazes me how these two authors can continue to come up with amazing stories and characters. I truly have NEVER been disappointed with a book written by them.
Their storylines are always interesting, unique, and captivating. I seem to fall in love with each new Hero more and more than the one before it. Their stories flow effortlessly and have such a great pace to them. Nothing ever seems rushed. I love that they write these books in Dual POV, because it helps build the connection between the characters and with their readers. I also like that there wasn’t a whole lot of excess drama in this story. Just enough to keep me turning the pages, but I will say they took me by complete surprise at a certain part in the story….I couldn’t believe what I was reading. Well Done Ladies!!!!
I want to say that Dear Bridget, I Want You is the fifth book in their Cocky Bastard series but I am not truly sure they have it listed that way. Let’s just say this is their 5th co-authored book. It is a complete standalone novel and NO other book needs to be read prior to reading this book. There is also NO cliffhanger!!!
What I have come to love about their co-authored books, is how seamless the writing is. You can never tell who writes what part. I love that so much. It just means that Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland are meant to keep writing books together.
In this book we follow along with Bridget and Simon. Bridget is a single mother and a nurse at a hospital in town. She has come to have an unfortunate accident bringing her into the ER….where she meets are British Doctor Simon. Let me just say this first meeting is a very interesting one 😉 Now fast forward 3 months and Bridget’s best friend Calliope has a friend who is looking for a place to stay without signing a lease, because he will be leaving shortly. Guess who that friend is??? You’ll have to read this book to find that out. And trust me you WANT to read this book!!! I loved Simon and Bridget’s banter…they had me laughing so many times. I think it was more Simon, but that is because that man melted my heart. I don’t want to say too much about the story, so just take my word for it…. READ THIS BOOK.
As with any book Penelope and Vi write, I would 100% recommend this to all readers. It’s a fun loving and entertaining love story. It is a chance encounter meeting type story and one you will fall in love with!!!
This was a really good read. I laughed and I cried. A single mom who has son by her late husband. She ends up meeting a really nice young looking doctor in an very embarrassing way. Then to go separate ways. To only later find each other again. This a must read if you like single parent romance books!!!
Who says no to a sexy British doctor?
I adored Simon. Adored. I’d kidnap him and keep him if he weren’t, you know, fictional, and you know, if kidnapping weren’t illegal.
Anyway, I appreciate that he wasn’t a completely tortured soul. He had his reason for keeping Bridget at arms length but it wasn’t completely overwhelming. Bridget….oh Bridget, the girl has more willpower than I could conjure up having this man living in my home. But once she let go for just a minute, that was some serious chemistry.
Simon is so much fun and so unbelievably swoony. Once he got his head out of his arse. His relationship with Brendan – oh how my heart melted.
I’m generally a huge fan of angst. Put my heart through the ringer as long as you put it together on the other side. But this–this was not incredibly angsty and not harshly drama-ridden but it had just enough to keep it interesting and to keep my heart invested in their outcome.
This is probably my favorite book by these two authors to date. Though they’re all delightful. I hope to see more from them.
I love everything these two authors put out.
This book had one of the best beginnings. I loved the fish hook in the butt! As I listened to this, it made me think about how I need to try to start any books I write that way if I want to get people reading. So much that I could relate to, even though I’m not a single mother. There was the part where she was set up on a blind date, and I totally know the feeling of walking in and from the very first moment having absolutely no attraction to the guy you’re being set up with, leading to a sinking feeling. Then there was the letter, yowza! How embarrassing! Then, I didn’t see what came up about 70% through, but the way it was handled was realistic. I was so scared Bridget would get mad at him for what wasn’t his fault, something that a lot of authors add as drama, but that’s not how it went, and I loved that. Sweet, but steamy, definitely a great book! Also, is narrator Zachary Webber really British? He did the accent very well.
I loved carefree Simon and how he was portrayed in the story and with the chemistry he had with Bridget, the story gets everything that you would expect from these two authors 🙂
Can’t wait for their next book together!
Bridget has lost her husband a year ago and is trying to do all her best to give her son the best life he deserves and when she meets a sexy doctor, it’s not under the great circumstances. A couple of months later, they meet again and she didn’t expect him to be the new doctor at the hospital she works at or even to be her new roommate. Sparks fly but still reeling from the loss of her husband, she’s afraid to let anyone into her heart.
Simon isn’t looking for anything serious and when he first meets Bridget, he feels that connection but after meeting her again a couple of months later, he didn’t expect to be her new roommate. The attraction he feels towards her seems to getting stronger every single day. Will he be able to break down her walls?…
Bridget Valentine, is an RN and a single mother to her son Brendan after her husband’s tragic car accident. She is totally devoted to taking care of Brendan and making sure he is happy. Money is tight so she tries to pick an extra shift here and there, but when the opportunity arises to have someone rent out the in-law apartment at her house….she jumps at it!
Dr. Simon Houge is an attending DR as well as a hot, sexy English fella! He is looking for a place to stay while finishing up his residency. He plans to return to Leeds once his residency is finished, so he does not want to get to attached to a home….or a women. Good thing he has a BFF that gave him the inside scoop to the apartment as Bridget’s house.
These two first meet in a most awkward way…Bridget his is patient in the ER due to a fishing accident. Fast forward a few months and now Simon is her renter and co-worker! I loved the all the innuendo and the checky banter that these two dish out! I liked how Bridget wanted to take things slow and keep her and Brendan’s hearts from breaking when Simon leaves for Leeds.
Oh, but fate (that fickle b****) has other plans for them! Great characters, hot sexy scenes, heartwarming scenes…a book fill the “feels” packed inside. This is a good second chance romance and I would recommend it to other readers.
I ordered this book on cyber Monday from The Bookworm Box. I so desperately wanted to read this book once I got it, I was super excited and I can say it was worth it. Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland, I am not sure how you did it but it didn’t feel like two people wrote it. It was a wonderful book from start to finish. Their interactions were funny, the notes & things that were passed between them were steamy. You knew something was going to happen with them but you just don’t know what. I always try to think ahead when reading a book about what could happen and I didn’t see this one coming. It was a twist I wasn’t expecting. I really enjoyed the characters, I love their interactions with each other and the complications in their relationship. I love how the tension in their relationship was. I love the beginning, middle and end. This book was great and I was right to wait a bit before starting another so I could read this one.
What are you waiting for get this book and start reading. It’s a fast read and very entertaining. Go get it!
I absolutely love these two writing together they would have been one of my favourite collaborations with Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward.
The one thing I always know is with thier writing is if I am stuck with what I feel like reading I can always count on them. And Dear Bridget… I want you was no exception absolutely loved this story.
It took me a while to read this one but even though I love read to read a book as soon as it releases sometimes I just love to wait until I’m stuck and the hype is done for the book and I am so glad I did with this one.
I wasn’t sure I would like this one as much as the others but I think that’s because I had never really read a doctor/nurse relationship kind of book and I am actually glad I haven’t because well this one has really got me intrigued for this genre.
Simon what a very nice surprise, he sounded so dreamy with his English accent and his blond hair and washboard abs who could resist this doctor in his scrubs. I really like how he thought as himself as a player, someone who doesn’t want to commit and settle down but from the start all his charactistics just show the opposite and I am so glad that even though he was crude, used every sexual innuendo there was and tried to not take life so serious, he showed that he was a caring, swoony and loving type of guy who was fighting a past.
Bridget was a single mum, trying to get on with her life, working hard and thinking maybe it’s time to get back in the dating pool and bang fate has all the ideas and gives her a push. I really loved Bridget for her insecurities, her strength and after what she has been put through she has been one of my favourite characters.
Absolutely loved everything about this book if your looking for some laughs, some tears and is all about fate with an awesome story then this is your book big 5 Stars from me

Dear Bridget, I Want You was phenomenal and completely blew me away! It was hands down my absolute favorite co-written novel from Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland so far, and one of my TOP FAVORITE reads of 2017! These two incredibly talented authors never cease to amaze me with the unique and intriguing storylines and characters they create, and they truly outdid themselves with Dear Bridget, I Want You.
Simon and Bridget were amazing and I fell head over heels in love with them and their story from page one. I loved their personalities and chemistry together, and how their relationship progressed throughout. I loved reading the book from both Simon and Bridget’s POV, and I immensely enjoyed their banter and interactions with each other. There were plenty of surprising and shocking twists and turns that I definitely didn’t see coming, but they certainly kept me on the edge of my seat. Simon and Bridget’s story was more than I could have ever hoped or dreamed for and I truly loved reading every single word. Simon and Bridget were my favorite characters and couple that Penelope and Vi have written together so far, and I couldn’t have loved them more if I tried. I loved reading this book from beginning to end and I was extremely happy with the conclusion to Simon and Bridget’s story.
Dear Bridget, I Want You was a sexy, swoon-worthy, and heartwarming contemporary romance, and I highly recommend it! I will literally read anything and everything that Penelope and Vi write, both separately and together, and I can’t wait to devour more of their amazing and addicting books!
