Britches Get Stitches
(Music City Rollers #2)
by Elicia Hyder
Narrated by: Brittany Pressley
This was a fun read/listen! Not my normal read, no shifters or blood suckers in it unless you count an ex-husband! A struggling gal with a handmade, top of the line, clothing store, she also roller derbies on the side, going through a crushing divorce after seven years but several unusual and unexpected people come into her life. She still has these problems and more but she slowly grows to handle those and more.
It’s a coming-of-age for those around 30!
It is written so well you don’t question some of the legal stuff. Lol! I fell into the world and enjoyed myself. I grieved, smiled, and found myself not missing shifters or vampires at all!
The narrator was so good! She really made the feelings come out!
Britches Gets Stiches was such a great story and fun to read. While this was the 2nd book in a series, I had absolutely no issues reading as a stand-alone. Lots of laughs and very heartwarming. I’m newer to Elicia Hyder and haven’t been disappointed yet. And with such great characters, I am definitely going to be picking up the first novel, Lights Out Lucy!!
Note to self: If I want to get any sleep at night, do not, under any circumstances, start reading a new book by Elicia Hyder… ANY new book by Ms. Hyder, but Britches Get Stitches, even more so.
Our favorite ladies of the roller derby are back! This is Grace’s story and one you are guaranteed to love! Grace just finalized her divorce and in the process, lost her dog Bodhi. In her attempt to clean out the rest of her belongings, she decides on one last night with her dog. Grace packs up Bodhi and takes him to her apartment. Apparently Clay, her ex, didn’t think it was all that funny because in the middle of the night, Grace hears a pounding on her door. Clay had called the cops and Jason, Clay’s best friend and one of Metro’s finest had answered the call. This is just the beginning of the emotional rollercoaster that is Britches Get Stitches. Once I picked up this book, I did not want to put it down. This is another of Ms. Hyder’s series that I am absolutely in love with! Enjoy!!
Britches Get Stitches by by Elicia Hyder is the second book in the Music City Rollers series and I loved it. Its a story about a woman’s daily life in the aftermath of her crushing divorce. The story was fun, hilarious, sweet and highly entertaining.
Its a contemporary romance but also a sports romance about Female Roller Derby, a sport I’ve never read about before.
The story highlights friendship, family support, romance, female empowerment, independence and strength. It was evenly paced, well-written, with lovable characters you will be rooting for and it will evoke a range of emotion from you. I absolutely loved this story.
The audible version was narrated by Brittany Pressley. She did a fantastic job and brought the characters to life. I actually could not put this book down and it was a pleasure listening to her.
This was a fantastic read and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of contemporary/sports romance.
Fantastic!
This is a very entertaining story! I love how the roller derby sport supports and encourages young girls to be athletic and empowered. Who knew roller derby was such a popular sport?
I enjoyed Grace and Monica’s dedication to their training. This sport takes up so much time that you must give it your all or fail painfully and miserably.
I love Bohdi! Grace’s love for her dog is so heartwarming and he is such a goof! This story touches so many good and positive things. Sylvia has a good heart and unknowingly helps Grace support the less fortunate in her community
.
Such a great, informative and feel good story, oh, and it gets a bit steamy as well! Lots of action and team spirit! Excellent job! I loved it!
In the second installment, we read about Grace, or Britches get Stitches in the derby! She is newly divorced and miserable. Her ex’s best friend, policeman Jason, runs into her to reclaim Bohdi the dog for her ex. They start hanging out and it turns into a nice romance. She has a very supportive family and a great business as well. She busts bootie on the track, in her business and other side ventures. She is an all-around great gal! You will have MANY LOL moments from the book…one really sticks out about food poisoning! But, there were a couple spots in there that made me tear up as well. She finds great new friends in her derby pals and customers. Most importantly, her romance interest is a wonderful guy even though they experience many difficulties. Then, she is about to become a felon?! You will not want to miss out on this new hilarious derby adventure! Elicia Hyder you do not disappoint!
I thought I loved Lights out Lucy. But Britches with Stitches just kept me wanting more. I fell in love with Grace and her sense of humor. The way she takes things head on. The dog thing I so would’ve done.
