Love this book and this series! Characters are great! I could not put the book down. Definitely recommend this book.
Love this entire series (KGI)!
I found the KGI series in 2012 when I met Maya Banks at an author signing. I fell in love with the Kelly Clan for a few years until eight books later the story that I waited for with bated breath, disappointed me a little. It didn’t have anything to do with Maya Banks writing but more my internal idea of the featured character that held me from connecting with the story.
Anyway, my reaction made me appreciate the people who turn to fan fiction to write their own story for beloved characters. Honestly, if I possessed even mediocre writing skills, I would write a fanfic version of Donavan Kelly, alas I’m not gifted in that arena.
Brighter Than Sun is Joe Kelly’s story. He is the last bachelor in the family. His brothers, sisters-in-law, and mother are on the hunt to find him a mate. Joe’s solution is to laugh with them then do his own thing. He envies his brothers but isn’t ready for the life they have…yet. Until Rusty, his adopted sister comes home for an extended visit with her college friend Zoe. She pulls Joe while setting off red flags that something isn’t right and Joe is on a mission to find out why. As Joe sets about to figure out the secrets, he is vividly aware of an attraction that he can’t deny.
Like most of the Kelly clan, Joe is instantly attracted to Zoe. This isn’t a deal breaker for me as I know personally how some people come into one’s life for a reason. It can be love or a forever friendship. Either way, I know that experience personally.
I like this story for so many reasons. All the teams are present for their regular training sessions. Getting updates on all their lives is what I need after this extended, self-imposed hiatus from the series. Joe is in his full-on alpha, protector, savior mode one of my favorite qualities of the Kellys. There are only a couple of sexy times, and they are like only Maya Banks can deliver.
The only flaw, for me anyway, is the push by Zoe towards the end. I get it in a way, but I didn’t “feel” the necessity. Also, I’m a little disappointed in the Rusty storyline. I love the setup don’t get me wrong, but the next book isn’t Rusty’s. Maya Banks has teased Rusty and Sean for a long time. I’m ready!
If you are a KGI fan and haven’t read Brighter Than Sun , now is the time to start. I notice that the audio is narrated by Tad Branson, one of my favorites. I’m going to check that out with my next audio credit.
A great series
It was AWESOME! Better than great, we finally have Joe Kelly succumb to finding “the one”. I enjoyed it and gobbled it up in a few hours. He finds his true love in Zoe, daughter of a criminal who never thought much of her. Filled with poignant emotions and the rest of the KGI crew and brief insights into their lives, this was a marvelous read. Now if only Sean could get his act together *sigh* Poor Rusty, so much pain…I hope that their story is revealed soon, besides that heart wrenching scene, I really enjoyed Joe and Zoe getting their HEA! 4.5 stars.
We finally get Joe’s story, I’ve waited 5 years for this one. We first met Joe and his twin Nathan in The Darkest Hour and they have been a part of every Kelly story one way or another.
Joe is the only holdout of his six brothers and is not looking to change his single status.
On the run and in fear of her life Zoe is in hiding with Rusty’s help.
I’ve read all 11 books in this series and have bookmarked book #12 that’ll be released in Dec. These books keep you on the edge of your seat and absolutely SIZZLE!!!
