All his life, Reyes Alexander Farrow has suffered the torments of the damned. Only one thing has given him hope: the woman who radiates a light that no mortals can see; a light that only the departed can see… Told from his point of view, BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN chronicles the first time Reyes ever encountered Charley, and how their relationship has been the one thing that can either save him or … save him or doom him.

Yessss….
In this book we see things from Reyes point of view. We follow him from childhood up until the First Grave On the Right. It’s glimpses into horrific childhood and his connection to Charley Davidson.
I highly recommend this book of short stories and the whole Charley Davidson series.
I loved getting to see things from Reyes’ point of view. The things he went through were just awful. I have a better understanding of him and of some of what he can do. I recommend reading this is you are reading the series.
Brighter Than the Sun ,#8.5 in the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones is Reyes perspective of events in his former life and earthly childhood. As with everything she writes, this one is excellent and emotional. I loved it.
This was both heartbreaking and freaking awesome! I loved seeing the past from Reyes point-of-view, even if it did break my heart. It helped me to deal with the disappointment of the eighth book. I LOVED it!
I wish I would have read this book after the very first book in the series, because that’s where it belongs. On that note, it should be labeled “Charley Davidson, #1.5” not $8.5. Anyway, having read the first eight books in the series, this was just a rehashing of what I already knew. Whatever, it’s not going to deter me from continuing with the series.
OMG! We finally get a book from Reyes’ POV! The story starts from the beginning of how he felt when he saw Charley’s bright light and follows his experience in prison. It’s a little sad and depressing, but I couldn’t get enough of his incorporeal experiences to see Charley. A wonderful read if you love Reyes Farrow!
Audiobook: Narrator – Lorelei King
I’ve heard a lot about this narrator so I was excited to get to hear her perform. While she did a great job of Reyes’ voice, I think I’ll find her true talent with Charley. I enjoyed this audio and hope I’ll be able to listen to one of the remaining books as well. However, I’ve extremely antsy to get on with the series and I’m not able to listen to more at this time.
I absolutely LOVED getting Reyes point of view. And this time it wasn’t for just one scene, but it was his story from the moment he was created. Wow! Some of this really gave insight on what and how things have gone done for him and Charley. I didn’t realize this was out there until after I read book ten so I’m kicking myself for missing out on it chronologically. It would’ve have been so nice to have had some of this information when I went into books nine and ten. I love that he’s all about Charley and if anything it’s given me more security in what kind of decisions he will make in the end…as if I didn’t already know.
I didn’t think it was possible to love Reyes any more than I already did, but Ms. Jones’ telling of his side of the story changed that right quick! I can’t stress enough how you should stop what you are reading and start this series! Reyes has ruined me for all other book boyfriends! Brighter than the Sun is a book that took me on a rollar coaster ride of emotions! It broke my heart, made me cry, shocked me (Chapter 7; I still can’t get that out of my head!!), and made me mad when it was over. I’m greedy for more!!
Loved this look at our beloved Charley from Reyes point of view and getting to know so much more about him and how he sees the world around him. Learned so much and am so excited to read more of this series. This journey has all the emotions and then some… I laughed, cried a lot and ultimately lost my heart all over again to Reyes. The best part was getting to find out more about Amador love that guy.
I listened to the audible version of this novella and loved every minute of it. I can never get enough of Charley and Reyes and this novella gives us everything from their first meeting, to him protecting her early on, to how Kim came into his life and how he met Amador and their friendship began. My heart also hurt for Reyes and Charley in very different ways because Reyes was submitted to an unimaginable amount of abuse and the way Charley’s step-mother treated her was unacceptable, even if she didn’t believe in Charley’s gift. I absolutely love this series. It’s perfect for all paranormal lovers.
Finally we got a peek into Reyes POV. He is one of my all time favorite book boyfriends, he is just so mysterious. This novella is a perfect addition to the series, and I hope we will get more of these novellas in the future. This book is sad and dark but also shows how protective Reyes is of the people he loves, he sacrifices himself to save them. I just loved how he watched over Charley from the start. He has been through so much and my heart broke every time something bad happened to him. 🙁 This novella gives a great background story to Reyes. I wouldn’t have minded if it was a full length novel, I just can’t get enough of him.
Now I need it to be January so I can read book #9!! I recommend this to every Charley Davidson series fan!! (Normally I don’t read novellas but come in IT’S REYES POV!!!)
I honestly can not get enough of this series! I would love more from his perspective, but I am happy with all of the books. Whether or not it is Reyes perspective or Charley’s!
