A powerful attraction smolders and burns between Jack and Katie despite their efforts to resist, but when a tragic death occurs during one of the Griffin’s stagecoach robberies, Katie is haunted by thoughts of revenge.
Can Jack reconcile his life in Columbia with his surprising true identity in San Francisco… and will this couple find their way to happiness in spite of the dangerous secrets that separate them? A strong willed young woman meets her challenge but he’s afraid of what he wants. I enjoyed our heroine getting her way in the end. I wish he would have gotten past his fears a little sooner. Good western story of good guys and bad guys.
This story was gold! Jack is a VERY magnetic character, you can’t help but be drawn to him. I liked Katie too, she was independent, headstrong and passionate. The storyline was awesome! It was interesting, full of humour and moves at a perfect pace. I also learned a few things I didn’t know and looked up afterwards. I completely enjoy when actual historical figures make their way into a fictional story. There is a lot of things going for this story! Brilliant read!
I throughly enjoyed this book. I absolutely recommend this book to everyone.
A beautiful story…beautifully written….
“Brighter Than Gold” by Cynthia Wright
is another shining example of the best
in historic romantic fiction. The history
is there-Sam Clemens playing a major
part in the plot, the miners at the foot-
hills, east of San Francisco and the
Highwayman in and around San Andreas. However, what sparks this
novel is the slow but sure romance
of Jack and Katy. Jack is disguising
himself and Katy is the headstrong
young, truthful reporter for their
little local newspaper. The manner in
which important topics are interwoven
into the plot is sheer genius. In the end,
truth & Justice overcomes corruption,
while all readers agree that true love
is much brighter than gold!!
PS. These lovable characters are so
well developed, that you’ll never want
to leave them!!
