This novella will warm your heart with the magic of Christmas! This was a very enjoyable book, well written with wonderful characters! It tackles a real problem that often happens to young kids when parents divorce. Has a happy ending too! Solid 5 stars in my opinion!
I voluntarily reviewed this book for an honest review
Hannah is a journalist looking for a good article that gets her a post in a magazine.
Jackson is waiting for Christmas eagerly to spend the holidays with his son.
A wonderful and sweet story about how Christmas can be heaven or hell depending on the family and people we have around us. Sometimes parents, and mostly when they are divorced, are so into their own wishes they don’t realize what they do to their little ones.
Luckily for little Jamie, Hannah makes a little miracle and save his Christmas.
I don’t know I Shady Piers exists but if it were real, I would like to live there.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
Bright Christmas is a wonderful festive visit to Shady Piers. The Christmas extravaganza was supposed to be Hannah’s best ever Christmas as well as the way to get her dream job. Jackson is about to derail both those plans. This is a delightful, sweet Christmas romance that highlights the magic and innocence of Christmas as well as the importance of love, family and communication. This book is beautifully written with great, genuine characters and Shady Piers is a wonderful place to spend Christmas I definitely recommend this book.
I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Bright Christmas is a beautiful book that is different from this author’s other stories. The romance actually takes a back seat in this story’s plot. Instead, it emphasizes the importance of family during this meaningful holiday.
Hannah Wyatt is an apprentice at a travel magazine in Southern California. She must find the “perfect story” for the Christmas edition in order to get a permanent job at the magazine. So, Hannah comes to Shady Pier, Maine to write about this “quaint little town’s beautiful Christmas tree-lighting ceremony.”
Jackson Vokes, a divorced father, is the Christmas tree farmer who donates the huge tree for this ceremony. Sadly, he refuses to sell, or donate, any more trees, because his ex-wife will not allow their son to spend Christmas with him.
Unfortunately, this will ruin the traditional tree lighting party which plays an important part of their Christmas celebration. Because of this, he will ruin everyone’s Christmas and also destroy Hannah’s chance to get her perfect story. Therefore, Hannah has to somehow solve this problem
I like this story because the relationship between Jackson, his ex-wife and his son takes precedence over the relationship between Hannah and Jackson. Also, this is a subject that hits very close to home for a lot of people. Jackson and his ex-wife seem to be using this special holiday to play a game in which there are no winners.
Of course there is a happy ending for Hannah and Jackson and, even, for Jackson’s ex-wife and her boyfriend. And, of course, the problem is solved by the end of the book in a way we wish they all would be solved between divorced families and their children. After all, this is still a Christmas story.
this series keeps getting better with each book.
Alicia Best really gets to the point with her stories.
Her characters and plot are spot on.
This is another sweet, Christmas story the deals with life’s problems.
A well written short story that was a sweet storyline about Christmas spirit, family and romance. Hannah is in town to write about the magical Christmas activities and famous Tree lighting. Jackson town tree farmer is heartbroken from his ex not allowing him to see his son for the holidays so he refuses to open his farm and not giving the tree for the tree ligtning. This amazing story had plenty of sweet and funny moments in this holiday romance that held my interest page after page.
Book seven in the Shady Piers Clean Romance series is a well-written story that held my interest throughout. This is journalist Hannah Wyatt, Jackson Vokes, and his son Jamie plus Maddie and Calla, ex-wife Gail and Donny her boyfriend. I enjoyed reading this story and watching as the characters grow. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
this is an enjoyable story, very good. if you like romance and what can happen at Christmas, you will like the book. his ex does not want to let their son be with him on Christmas so he does not want to sell anymore trees, she is there to write a story about the town. but she has to find out what is going on with him first. a good story. I was given a copy of the book but this is an honest reveiw
Hannah has come from California to Shady Piers, Maine to write about the Christmas festival and tree lighting for her paper only to find that the tree farm owner won’t give the town a tree for the tree lighting ceremony. Grinchy Jackson upset that his ex-wife Gail won’t let him have his son Jamie for Christmas closes his tree farm, refusing to help anyone else celebrate with his Christmas trees. Hannah has to mediate and bring Jackson and Gail together to save the tree lighting, her article, and most importantly their relationship with Jamie. There were plenty of sweet and funny moments in this holiday romance. Jamie was so precocious and he just wanted everyone to come together and get along in keeping with the spirit of the holiday season.
Bright Christmas is a sweet holiday tale of a young woman from California who comes to Shady Piers to write a story about their Christmas festival. Once there she meets the Grinch threatening to steal Christmas and finds out maybe he’s not so bad after all. As always, Shady Piers is a wonderful place to visit and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left an honest review.
Have tissues at hand for this family-friendly Christmas tale which can be read in about three hours. I read an Advance Reader Copy and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
This is a poignant, romantic story in the Shady Piers series. It will touch your heart and put you in the spirit of Christmas. The characters are so realistic in their actions that you cannot help feeling for them. I think this is my favorite book in this series. I love how the author surprised me with her story and the direction that the story would go. Communication and love are so important to every kind of family. I want to move to Shady Piers, Maine where the community rallies together and I want to watch the tree lighting ceremony. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Bright Christmas by Alicia Best is another wonderful Shady Piers story. I have been very entertained by Hannah’s and Jackson’s story. Their ups and downs kept me turning the pages. I have been loving these stories set in Shady Piers, Maine and have come to love this small town. I love the way Ms. Best develops her characters and all the plot twists. This is a sweet and clean fantastic read! I am hoping there will be more! Highly recommend!
Determined to succeed as a travel journalist, Hannah descends on Shady Piers, only to find that her purpose for visiting the small town that celebrates Christmas in an extraordinary way, is about to be thwarted by a warring couple. Determined to have her story, Hannah goes the extra mile to bring a resolution to the problems that beset the couple in their custody battle, little realising that her own sad past can serve as an object lesson. This is a sweet clean romance with a happy ending, bringing reconciliation and highlighting the spirit of Christmas. Although this book is part of a series and a number of characters from previous novels appear in this one as well, it is nevertheless a standalone. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Christmas in Shady Piers is a sweet story and I enjoyed reading it. What happens when the tree farmer is heartbroken over not seeing his son for Christmas?
I was gifted an ARC in return of an honest review.
I love Shady Piers! I’ve read all the books so far and am always ready for the next one. Romance is important, but learning how to communicate with an ex for the sake of your child is just as important. Alicia brings all that to this touching story, full of heart.
Hannah is a reporter who starts out wanting to save the day because of her job but…. Jackson is distraught because his ex wife won’t let him have their son on Christmas. A really great story about really talking to each other and doing what is best for their child. I loved Hannah – she was pushy but in a good way – gotta read to understand. Romance and more.
I received an ARC of this book from the author, Alicia Best, and this is my voluntary and honest review. I highly recommend this wonderful clean romance between Jackson and Hannah in Shady Piers, Maine. This is a beautiful Christmas story that will bring joy to your heart.
Shady Piers is frantic! Jackson usually supplies the giant tree for the lighting ceremony to open the big Christmas festival that draws in tourists, but he’s suddenly closed his tree farm. His ex-wife says he can’t have his 5-year old son on Christmas, the one holiday that’s been his, and he can’t bear to see happy families come for trees. Tourists may be leaving. Big-city reporter Hannah is there to write about the big festival. With no tree, no ceremony, and possibly no people, she may have no chance for the story and a big promotion. She tries to reconcile the parents with her own experience as a child of divorce, failing several times. Can she show them there’s enough Christmas magic for everyone? Will there be a sweet Shady Piers romance?
I particularly loved this book, because I am a divorced mom and recognize the problems.
I received an advance copy of this book for my voluntary and honest review.
Probably my favorite of the Shady Piers Romances so far. Jackson is a divorced dad who is angry because his ex-wife is taking his son, Jamie, away from him on Christmas. Because he is unhappy, he closes down his tree Christmas tree farm and refuses to gift his annual Christmas Tree to the town of Shady Piers for their annual Christmas Festival’s tree lighting. Hannah is determined to convince him that it is a bad idea. She has an article to write that includes the tree lighting and she doesn’t want to lose out on such a wonderful opportunity. But, she decides there is so much more that she can do and wants to do to help Jackson, his son, Jamie, and his ex-wife Gail to heal and move forward doing what is best for each other, especially Jamie.
This book was a clean romance with no foul language or descriptive sex, just a little kissing. This book was a quick read and a feel good romance. I was given an arc and I willingly offer my review.
