The iconic #1 bestseller by Helen Fielding; Bridget Jones is now the inspiration for the September 2016 Working Title film release of Bridget Jones’s Baby, starring Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth, Patrick Dempsey and Emma Thompson. Bridget Jones’s Diary is the devastatingly self-aware, laugh-out-loud account of a year in the life of a thirty-something Singleton on a permanent doomed quest for … permanent doomed quest for self-improvement. Caught between the joys of Singleton fun, and the fear of dying alone and being found three weeks later half eaten by an Alsatian; tortured by Smug Married friends asking, “How’s your love life?” with lascivious, yet patronizing leers, Bridget resolves to: reduce the circumference of each thigh by 1.5 inches, visit the gym three times a week not just to buy a sandwich, form a functional relationship with a responsible adult and learn to program the VCR. With a blend of flighty charm, existential gloom, and endearing self-deprecation, Bridget Jones’s Diary has touched a raw nerve with millions of readers the world round. Read it and laugh—before you cry, “Bridget Jones is me!”

Bridget Jones’s Diary
Just dunno if I’m board with this new movie. Don’t break up the band, Fielding.
It was funny. It was embarrassing. It was a joy to read. I would have joined the family, hanging out the various windows (if there had been a spare window for me) smoking a cigarette Christmas morning, not that I smoke anymore, but just to join the conversation. Charming book, quite girly. Thoroughly recommend
I saw the film before reading the book and whilst there were no surprises, I loved the story. I think we can all relate to the Christmas with the parents scenes!
I’ve known about movie. As I always believed books are better than the adaptations but this is so tedious hard to see how the movie was so successful.
I read this many years ago and loved it. I read again when I was feeling depressed. It always makes me smile. For me, it is a must have book.
Chronicled the life of a single girl, making bad decisions.
The start of it all. I actually saw the movie before I read the book and I still really loved the story. It was fun to see how similar they are and yet the book is so special in its own way. I’ve read this story many times and love it more each time.
Totally charming and funny lead character. YOu’ll find yourself laughing your way through this totally relatable book.
A light, easy read.
It really is a diary!
Couldn’t get thru it – I didn’t care for the “journal” format
One of my personal favorite series, it’s such a fun start to a collection I’ve enjoyed for ages. I remember reading them as a teen and my enjoyment of them has continued since then. It’s become a comfort read to me. Audiobook is wonderful at bringing the story to life as well.
A light read with some hilarious moments, it’ll stay a lifelong staple …
Hilarious!!
I love reading this book. It was very entertaining and it was really fun to read.Once you start you won’t want to put it down. I would also recommend watching the movie for this as it is one of my all time favourites.
Good read
The diary format makes this book easy to read and even though it was written in the 90s, Bridget’s feelings and experiences are as relevant as ever.
A fun read
A laugh0out-loud romantic comedy classic.
Great story
