The 40th anniversary edition of the classic Newbery Medal-winning title by beloved author Katherine Paterson, with brand-new bonus materials including an author’s note by Katherine herself and a foreword by New York Times bestselling author Kate DiCamillo. Jess Aarons has been practicing all summer so he can be the fastest runner in the fifth grade. And he almost is, until the new girl in school, … runner in the fifth grade. And he almost is, until the new girl in school, Leslie Burke, outpaces him. The two become fast friends and spend most days in the woods behind Leslie’s house, where they invent an enchanted land called Terabithia. One morning, Leslie goes to Terabithia without Jess and a tragedy occurs. It will take the love of his family and the strength that Leslie has given him for Jess to be able to deal with his grief.
Bridge to Terabithia was also named an ALA Notable Children’s Book and has become a touchstone of children’s literature, as have many of Katherine Paterson’s other novels, including The Great Gilly Hopkins and Jacob Have I Loved.

epic
I think this is a beautiful book. The narrative is sweet and poetic, simple yet profound. Jess and Leslie feel so much like real people, I could almost believe they were my neighbors. Their friendship, experiences, questions and hopes and fears and discussions—and Terabithia—are just golden. And my heart just went out to Jess. What a great kid! …
I remember this book from my childhood. Such a terrific coming of age story with an unexpected tragedy. It was painful at the time, but is an accurate reminder of how chaotic and unpredictable life can really be.
Having watched the movie before reading the book. I knew what the story was about. Having lost my best friend as an adult, but still far too young) I feel some of the loss and pain that Jesse has for Leslie. I see in the end how Jesse passes Leslie’s legacy on by introducing May Belle to Terabithia. And how Jesse will remember who and what his …
I book was two words phenomenal and extraordinary
I absolutely love this book! I’ve read it so many times, each time I read it I find myself getting attached to one of the different characters.
It is a great book but it’s ending is a tear jerker, all good books never have a happily ever after.
Innovative telling of what happens when we pass away.
A good book about friendship, life, loss, and living on. My daughter’s book club enjoyed reading this and watching the movie after, though it was sad as well.
I LIKED EVERITHING ABOUT THE STORY.
MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IS LESSLY
This is without question my favourite children’s book Great titles like Anne of Green Gables and little house on the prairie as great as they are don’t hold a candle to this sensitive treatment of death and loss and the power of the imagination to overcome difficulties I highly recommended this book to everyone young and old
