Where there are ghosts, Cassidy Blake follows . . . Unless it’s the other way around? Cass thinks she might have this ghost-hunting thing down. After all, she and her ghost best friend, Jacob, have survived two haunted cities while traveling for her parents’ TV show. But nothing can prepare Cass for New Orleans, which wears all of its hauntings on its sleeve. In a city of ghost tours and … city of ghost tours and tombs, raucous music and all kinds of magic, Cass could get lost in all the colorful, grisly local legends. And the city’s biggest surprise is a foe Cass never expected to face: a servant of Death itself.
Cass takes on her most dangerous challenge yet in the latest book in this New York Times bestselling series from master storyteller Victoria Schwab.

I just finished this audiobook. Like the first two books I really enjoyed this book. I wasn’t disappointed at all while listening. I am going to miss the characters. I highly recommend these audiobooks. This a spooky and fun read.
About Book:
Cassidy parents travel to New Orleans to film for their show. Cassidy and her ghost friend Jacob and her friend Laura try and find out what is following/haunting Cassidy together. Without Cassidy’s parents noticing what they are up too.
Cassidy and Jacob head to New Orleans for this book of adventures. While they are finding there is more than what meets the eye to historic locations, they are also trying to solve the mystery of who is hunting Cassidy. Another great fast paced story full of adventure and wonderful characters! I love the mix of historic locations and the history in these stories also.
Book 122 towards my goal of 290! 5/5 stars for this middle grade fantasy! I just love this series so much! About a gal and her ghost best friend and their adventures. It does get a bit dark at times, but stays within that middle grade range. Great characters, and “the veil” is so spoopy! Love the cover and the narration! Cannot recommend enough!
I’m loving this series and cannot wait for more. I love Cass, Laura and Jacob! There was lots of action in this one. I loved going to New Orleans. I definitely recommend this series.
What a way to end this series! Cassidy saving Lara especially since she helped her find her purpose and guided her throughout was just enchanting.
I’ll definitely miss the interactions between Jacob and Cassidy.
I gave this book four and a half spectral stars!
Man oh man was this a lot of fun! I preordered this book the second it was available, and it was well worth the wait.
We continue Cassidy Blake’s spooky journey as her parents continue the filming of their new paranormal show in New Orleans. Immediately Cassidy is swept up in the unique ambience of the city, but when she is followed by a mysterious figure cloaked in black the situation takes a scary turn. Who is this figure? Can she stop it, or will it take her beyond the Veil and reclaim her second chance at life?
Much like the first two books, this was a wonderful MG read.
As always, Cassidy was a great main character. She’s learned a lot about herself thus far, and she continues to discover interesting things about the spirit world and the world of the living that help her grow. I like how scrappy she can be, and how fiercely she fights for her friends. She’s such a brave little girl, and it was easy to root for her in this spooky tale.
Jacob almost stole the show this time as her ghost buddy. There were intriguing developments that had me wondering where his future lay, and that really kept me blazing through the pages. Through and through, he’s a great friend to Cassidy, and their friendship really shines in this book.
The plot was similar to the last two books but distinctly different and refreshing. I’ve never visited NOLA for more than a day, but I’m familiar with the look and feel of things. I loved the atmosphere that was portrayed and the tidbits of history we were given. The antagonist was scary and mysterious, and the stakes were super high, which kept me on the edge of my seat. Cassidy’s world continues to get more interesting, and I have to know what else the universe has in store for Cassidy, Jacob, and Lara!
If I had to pick at anything, I’d say the ending was a smidgen disappointing, mainly because there is usually a feeling of continuity that wasn’t there. This time the story felt more close-ended, but I’m desperately hoping that this series continues on further. I need more!
If you love MG or simply love spooky tales, this is definitely a book worth reading!
