Lazarus County has yet to be tamed. There’s drought, bandits, and natives to contend with. People have moved out there hoping to better themselves, have a chance at the kind of life they could never hope for back East. The town of Gilgamesh, the county seat, offers plenty of people second chances. One of those people is Geraldine Towers.Geraldine has been struggling in Philadelphia since the death … Philadelphia since the death of her husband from Typhoid. She’s even lost custody of her daughter. She desperately needs help to get her daughter back and is surprised that she may find it from Gregor Heinz, a reporter from Gilgamesh. Gregor has come back east to sniff out a case and never expected that he might find love as well.

Geraldine was a young widow that had lost almost everything, including her daughter to her in law’s custody. All she wants is to get her back.
Gregor Heinz just might be the person to help her! This is a great spin on the mail order bride trope and I truly enjoyed this short novella. Now I just need to go back and read the rest of the series!! Don’t miss this one though!
Poorly Written and Disorganized Mess
There is just so much wrong with this story on so many levels. I thought it started off confusingly, not focused on what the ultimate story or romance would be about. That’s a bad idea in a novella that’s just over 10K words. There’s not a lot of wiggle room for extra plots or unnecessary scenes. It needs to be sharp and focused. There was plenty of info dumping on both the hero and heroine’s parts, which I am never a fan of. Unfortunately, this is all too common in novellas, particularly short ones like this one. The book was riddled with grammar, punctuation, and usage errors. Commas were added where there should be none, while other spots lacked the required ones. These errors actually happened so much that I did find it distracting from the story. All in all, I found this very disappointing read.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This was an amazing story. I enjoyed every single page. It was a very touching gem. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.
Eastern Intrigue is the seventh book in the Brides of Lazarus County and is a quick but entertaining read.
Reading this clean historical western romance is a wonderful use for an hour of your day. The characters are charming and the storyline is well written and engaging, with drama, adventure, and romance.

This is the 4th book I’ve read written by Amber Seraph; she has done a great job at writing a good short story; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the characters.

This is a clean, Christian, romance set back during the development of our nation. A reporter helps a widow get back her daughter from her in-law, falling in love in the process. Clean sweet romance with a HEA.

A child should be with its mother.
Nathan’s family was rich and powerful and taking Kathleen away from Geraldine was almost too much to bear. Here is where Gregor Heinz enters the picture. For such a short book there is a great deal of interesting events in it. I kind of wish there had been a bit more detail because the piece seemed a bit rushed, but I enjoyed the story and I gladly recommend it. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
I really enjoyed this short story. I wish that it had been longer, but the story was told and was very interesting. Very good characters, storyline, and a happy ending. What more can you ask for?
I recommend this book to all who like good clean stories with a happy ever after.

Pretty direct short story, but still the characters showed some growth. There was a bit of drama and plenty of adventure although we were told, more than shown.
This story is a wonderful, long-awaited addition to the series.
