A Lesson For The Schoolmaster is book 5 in the Bride’s of Lazarus County. The town council has hired Daniel to come and be the new schoolmaster. He meets Melanie, the daughter of the owner of the general store and he starts having feelings for her. Melanie is taken by Daniel, and starts spending some time with him. But, Daniel has a dark side from his past that keeps him from following his heart. Will Melanie ever get him to tell her what is wrong before it is too late?
Daniel Grantham was raised by his military father to “do as you are told” no questions asked. He followed that upbringing when his superiors ordered him and his troops to kill the Sioux indians camped near the fort. Ehawee, a young Indian maiden, was the only one left in the camp where he had made friends and even ate with them. This haunted him so that when he met a young lady in Gilgamesh, where he was hired as the new schoolmaster, he could not pursue a future with her until he righted a wrong from his past. A quick and entertaining read.
I enjoyed reading this short, sweet, and clean romance. The main characters were likable, and had an almost immediate attraction to one another that became stronger the more time they spent together. The story had a nice flow to it, and it was refreshing to see how much Daniel and Melanie’s personalities complemented one another. I love happy endings in my romances, and this book did not disappoint. I have not read the previous books in this series, but will most certainly do so now. Many thanks to the author for an enjoyable and uplifting read.

A sweet story about the new schoolmaster, Daniel, who has a past for which he cannot forgive himself. He meets a lovely young woman, Melanie, and they become friends. As he becomes drawn to her, his past takes over his thoughts. I really enjoyed this book, including the conflict, which addressed some real issues. I recommend this book to anyone who likes clean historical stories.

I have enjoyed this series.
This is a series I have enjoyed a great deal Amber Seraph is such a great writer. This western historical has Daniel Grantham and Melanie Dineage pairing up. This is a story about a man who needs to forgive and accept that something good can come to him. Megan is a strong lady but fears that her confidence and attitude may push Daniel away. These were such realistic characters and this is a very touching piece. High praise to the author and it is a book I am proud to recommend. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
A Lesson for the Schoolmaster is a sweet uplifting book. It is a quick read and throughout the story the themes of tolerance and second chances are delicately interwoven. The hero, Daniel, struggles with guilt for not questioning orders he followed when in the army. Melanie, the heroine, is cheerful and helpful to others without being too perfect. A lovely story, with realistic details of what life on the frontier was like.
I received a advance readers copy of the book from the author, and the opinions expressed are my own.
Brides of Lazarus County Book Five: A Lesson for the Schoolmaster: A Clean Western Historical Romance by Amber Seraph is a quick read. A Western Historical Romance novella. Set in the town of Gilgamesh, the county seat of Lazarus County.
This is Daniel Grantham, the new schoolmaster and Melanie Dineage, the general store owner’s daughter’s journey to their HEA.
A bit slow and a bit confusing at first, but it picks up quickly and flows easily. It might have been easier if I had read any of the others in this series. Amber Seraph, is a new author to me.
The cast of characters are engaging and the storyline is unpredictable. A story of secrets, second chances, romance, and finding love.
A satisfying and enjoyable read. A sweet Western Historical Romance .
“I voluntarily received a complimentary copy, however, these are my honest opinions. I was in no way required nor compensated to write a review.”

We don’t get much info on the characters, but there’s enough to not get lost.
She makes him want to be a better person––to be worthy of her.
And she’s afraid she’s run him off with her confidence and outspokenness.
