Finding true love… In the unlikeliest places! Sienna Fairchild never imagined she’d be a runaway bride. Or that she’d stow away on a worn-down boat belonging to handsome tour operator Monty Bettencourt. Monty’s used to navigating rough seas, but Sienna might overturn his whole life, and avoiding drama is tough in such close quarters! If Sienna’s sure she doesn’t know what she wants, then … know what she wants, then why does running away feel so much like coming home?

Bride on the Run, the ninth story in the Butterfly Harbor series, is full of romance, self-discovery, a bit of drama/danger, a lot of good people standing behind a woman being bullied by her father and the former, never again jerk she almost married for all the wrong reasons. Sienna may have thought that stowing away on “Nana’s Dream” was a sign from above and her beloved grandmother – but it turned out to be exactly where she needed to be in order to find her true happiness-filled ever after future.
She couldn’t do it. Standing in the Bride’s Room right before she was to walk out and marry a man she didn’t know, certainly didn’t like just to finally have her father pleased with something she did (at his request), Sienna finally admitted that she just could not do this. And she bolted… without regret. Knowing she had little time to escape when she saw the sorta rundown, older boat Nana’s Dream docked along her escape path she made a choice that would eventually change her life. She squeezed herself and that silly wedding dress into hiding on Nana’s Dream and didn’t think beyond the moment of hiding from Richard and her father.
Monty’s trip to pick up the boat that he’d just purchased for the growing touring fleet back home in Butterfly Harbor should have been uneventful. And it might have been if not for a runaway bride hiding in the boat’s cabin, one angry almost groom and father of the bride demanding that he produce a bride he just learned was hiding… and his answer had been to protect this unknown bride. After all, if she’d run from the ceremony there must have been a good reason, right? Now, Monty has to casually pick up clothes, pull up anchor, and head out toward home with those jerks none the wiser. Right, easy as… well, maybe not so easy but necessary.
I enjoyed Bride on the Run so much. We get a bit of the Butterfly Harbor crew towards the latter half of the book but for the most part, it’s Monty and Sienna discovering each other, and Sienna doing some in-depth self-discovery on what is important to her and her alone in her life going forward. Duchess adds great humor to this tale, and I believe I completed this story with a full (or at least half) smile on my face from beginning to the end. As always the residents of Butterfly Harbor add their unique take on this situation and are firmly behind Sienna and Monty when possible trouble comes calling. I had fun, and I’m definitely awaiting the next story due out in July of 2021.
I own a Kindle edition of this title.
4 1/2 STARS!
Butterfly Harbor always feels like home! Anna J. Stewart brought utter joy to this reader with one of my favorites of her heroes yet in BRIDE ON THE RUN. This series is always overflowing with emotions, joy and happily ever afters. You’ll have a more complete feel for the town if you read the series from the start, so I highly recommend that you do.
Monty is just the sweetest. He enjoys the simple things in life and always has a positive outlook. Watching him find his forever was so heartwarming.
Sienna might have been subjected to an imaginary shake … or ten throughout the story. She let herself be walked on when the situation was risky, but when it came time to see a truly good guy in front of her for a change, she was dragging her feet and driving me crazy. She eventually redeemed herself.
I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who loves a small town romance that centers around a group of friends and family that always partake in each others lives and share their joy when they find their forever.
I have to say I truly loved this one. An amazing book that keeps you riveted to your seat from the start to the finish. It had a great cast of characters and the story line was remarkable. I love Monty and Sienna but I think Duchess stole the show.
I have really enjoyed the Butterfly Harbor series and this book does not disappoint. Check it out, you will be glad you did.
Anna J. Stewart is a remarkable storyteller that once you start reading her books you won’t want to stop.
Sienna finally decides enough is enough and she needs to work out where to from here in life, it’s just a bit unfortunate she decides this just before her wedding! I love how carefree Monty is and hiding a runaway bride is like water off a ducks back and no bother to him but all that will change not just for him but also Sienna as they sail to Butterfly Habor. There are some great laughs, a growing romance, a cheeky parrot, meddling family and people who you thought you could trust and new friends you didn’t know you needed until they are in your life, all this and more makes this and absolutely fantastic read!
I loved this book. You should not miss it. Ms. Stewart’s Butterfly Harbor series is amazing.
Now Monty and Sienna are a great match. The last thing Monty expects on his boat is a runaway bride. He’s an honest guy and does right by everyone. He covers for Sienna because he can see she needs help.
Do yourself a favor and read the rest in this series. This can stand alone, but I’m one to follow the characters from the beginning.
I adore this latest addition to the Butterfly Harbor series. Runaway bride Sienna hides out on Monty’s new boat, and so begins a journey not only to Butterfly Harbor but one of self discovery for our new couple, as well.
Sienna is so not your typical poor little rich girl. She’s neither snobbish nor cold, but loving, funny and cheerful, even as her life is being played out in public. Monty is a great guy, one who helps others without expecting anything in return. He’s calm waters in her stormy life and my favorite type of hero. Not the bad boy, not the guy with money…the guy with a heart, who has friends and family who love and support him, and a who has vision of a simple, fulfilled life on the ocean.
Sienna and Monty are the balance that the other needs in their life. She fits in right away in his home town and charms all those she meets, as she in turn in charmed by them and Butterfly Harbor.
While part of a series, Bride on the Run can be read as a stand-alone, as all the books about Butterfly Harbor. I’ve been lucky enough to have started from the beginning and I’ll be here until the last citizen has found their happily ever after. I’m a big fan of everything written by Anna J Stewart, but I confess that Butterly Harbor holds a very special place in my heart. It’s the next best thing to living there myself!
Bride on the Run is my favorite book in the Butterfly Harbor series. Loved the storyline, and Duchess the parrot was the best! I hope to see her in future Butterfly Harbor books.
This is only the second book by this author that I have read, and I was just as enchanted this second time around.
This story centers around Sienna Fairchild and Monty Bettencourt.
Sienna , a woman from a wealthy family, is about to get married when she realizes she doesn’t even truly know the groom, is not in love with him and only agreed to the marriage to please her father. So she runs out of the yacht club. When she sees a boat called Nana’s Dream, she considers it a sign and quickly hides there.
Monty, owner of a charter boating business and new owner of Nana’s Dream is surprised to find his stowaway, but realizing she wishes to escape those searching for her, helps her out.
Neither realizing that her escapade and him helping her, would change their lives forever.
But the road to happiness is filled with twists and turns for these two seemingly different individuals.
It was a delightful story about finding oneself, finding love, family dynamics, the strength and power of a village and new beginnings. The only downside is that not having read the previous stories in the series, I was at times at a disadvantage when those characters showed up in the story. As a new reader, I did not know their background.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Sienna Fairchild is a runaway bride. She just couldn’t go through with it; marrying Richard Somersby, even if it would please her father. She shouldn’t be giving up her own happiness to please her father. Then there’s Richard! She really doesn’t know him and she doesn’t love him. So she runs and hides on an old boat docked at the marina next to the San Diego Empire Yacht Club, the wedding venue. The boat seems to be meant to be. It’s named Nana’s Dream. Sienna loved her recently deceased Nana so much. Sienna is sure her Nana has guided her to this boat. The boat’s new owner, Monty Bettencourt discovers her hiding away but fortunately doesn’t give her whereabouts away when Richard and her father come searching for her. Monty is about to set sail the following morning to move Nana’s Dream to his home location in Butterfly Harbor. Monty agrees to take her along and Sienna agrees to take on last minute wedding planning duties for Monty’s twin sister Frankie. Along the way they get to know each other and Sienna finds herself falling for Monty. But is Monty falling for her or her money?
Monty Bettencourt is co-owner of a fleet of boats he and his partners run as tour and adventure boats. Wind Walker Tours is his dream. He scraped together enough money to purchase Nana’s Dream to add to his fleet in Butterfly Harbor. The stowaway he finds on Nana’s Dream is a real surprise – a runaway bride. Monty can’t help but agree to let Sienna make the trip to Butterfly Harbor with him. He senses her great need to escape and find herself. It doesn’t hurt that Sienna is beautiful, ready to pitch in to help him on the boat, has a good heart and he is attracted to her. Their feelings for each other grow as their journey progresses. If only he can convince her he is not interested in her bank account.
Bride on the Run by Anna J. Stewart is the ninth book in Ms Stewart’s Butterfly Harbor series I enjoy runaway bride stories and this is a fabulous one! I’ve never read one where the bride is a stowaway on a boat before. It’s a fun setting. The two main characters Sienna and Monty are very likable. Sienna’s ex-fiancee Richard, not so much. I really enjoyed getting to know Sienna and Monty. When trouble follows Sienna to Butterfly Harbor I liked how Monty and all the residents of the town support her. The addition of the abandoned parrot, Duchess added much levity to the story. The surprises before Frankies’ wedding are heartwarming. I haven’t read any of the earlier books in this series but I fell in love with Butterfly Harbor so I plan to read more about it.
Can I just say that with every Butterfly Harbor book I read, I want to live there more and more? If this place existed, I’d be on the road there now! Given that it’s in California and I grew up there, I most definitely know approximately where it would be! The town sounds so much like the town I grew up in and the characters are all amazing! Monty has been a favorite of mine since I first met him and I’m so glad he finally got his own story! While he’s in San Diego buying an old boat to restore and add to his “fleet” of boats for his business, a woman (Sierra Fairchild) decides to jump aboard and hide on said boat and runaway from her wedding! Monty discovers her before he leaves and keeps her secret as her fiance and father search the marina for her. He has a feeling there is a good reason she is a runaway bride! As Sierra bargains with Monty to “take her with him” to Butterfly Harbor while she sorts things out, they begin an adventure that will change both of their lives! I loved this book from beginning to end! Boat troubles, a meddling & annoying parrot, threats of kidnapping and even Monty’s sister’s upcoming wedding fiascos all keep things entertaining! I wish the Butterfly Harbor books would never end!
As we head back to Butterfly Harbor, we meet Sienna Fairchild, who stows away on Monty Bettencourt’s boat to avoid marriage to a man she doesn’t love or even like, when she discovers that he only wants her for her father’s money.
Monty is in for the ride of his life when he agrees to her request to take her to Butterfly Harbor. Along the way an entertaining parrot joins the trip.
Come along for an entertaining, fast-paced read.
As always Ms. Stewart will capture your interest and keep you guessing how everything will turn out.
This story has so much – it is fun, it is touching, it is poignant, it is love. However, it also has some downsides, too. I mean, whenever you say ‘runaway bride’, there has to be some kerfuffle, right? I won’t retell the story – read the blurb, then the book! – but I will tell you the parts that I loved.
We met Monty Bettencourt in previous books in this series. (No worries, it is a standalone but it has ‘walk-on’ parts for some of the folks we’ve met in Butterfly Harbor.) My impression of Monty was always strong, reliable, loving to his friends and family – the type of guy who is always there for you. He also loved to tease his twin sister, too, and their relationship was always special.
And this time we meet the runaway bride, Sienna Fairchild. I could identify with some of the trauma and drama she was going thru and it helped to understand what drove her to run. She is also a strong character and able to withstand everything that is happening to her and stand up for herself when needed. She was NOT wishy washy!
Their journey (back for Monty) to Butterfly Harbor, and the beginnings and building of their relationship is wonderful. Monty is just the best and Sienna is a great match for him. Some of the things that happen…are you listening, Duchess???…are hilarious. Some of the things that happen…are scary. Some of the things that happen…test the goodness of these two but they continue to strengthen the bond between them. Their story is just over-the-top good. I just love Monty!
