LOVE HER BOOKS!
I enjoyed all three books and also purchased the fourth in the series. Really strong women characters and enjoyed the men who adored them.
Enjoyed!
1. ENGAGED IN WICKEDNESS – 3.25 STAR
This was just ok. The h was a sought after women into her 3rd season. She was brazen and I can’t get over her reputation wasn’t destroyed. The H I didn’t feel a connection too, because I felt he was up to know good in meeting the h.
We don’t discover until later in the story, he didn’t have ill intent, but by then it was too late to enjoy his character. I was at odds with myself in how to get a handle on him. He came across kind and honorable but then the way he went about meeting the h didn’t ring true.
Debra was another character that didn’t fit what you read. She is trying to find a husband and enlists the help of the h. You turn the page and she is getting ready for her wedding. WHAT? Of course later we are given the details how she met him but I felt like I was missing pages. How she wins her husband is by correcting him on something. Which again goes against the shy character she was written as.
The h has a horrible home life and we realize later in the story she is trying to fill a void in what her home life is like. I didn’t care for her character that much. There is many pre lovemaking stuff, if you get my drift and then the act – heat level 4 out of 5.
There is a misunderstanding that thankfully was resolved within a few days, so that was a great plus.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, little romance and spice.
2. WEDDED IN SCANDAL – 2.25 STARS
I didn’t care for the H at all. He kept trying to force the h to have sex and be his mistress. I wished I kept track how many times she says NO! At one point she tried to get away and he grabbed her ankle to keep her from getting away. How is this romance? The h finally consents after he tells her a sad tale.
The H is adamant she will be his mistress until the last few pages. His change of heart was too quickly. Then the H’s sister, who we meet in Engaged in Wickedness doesn’t seem the same person she was in that story.
We are given mixed messages as to the wealth of the H. He states many times he can’t afford more than he currently is responsible for. Then he takes two households shopping.
There is lovemaking, outside of marriage and heat level 4.5 out of 5. Since I didn’t care for them as a couple, it lacked passion.
The h is hiding in plain site. She changes her name because her father left them in disgrace. But, no-one recognizes her? The H figures out her true name, but we are never told how he figured it out.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, lacked romance and has spice.
3. ENGAGED IN PASSION – 5 STARS
This is my favorite of the bundle. The H doesn’t care she is a plus size, he sees the person she is inside. Her father is in trade, such a bad word for the Ton. The H works for her father as an apprentice. There was chemistry from the start with these two, plus romance. But, they knew they could not be together because she just learned her father betrothed her to a half wit – but he was a Lord which was all the h’s father cared about.
There is lovemaking, outside of marriage, mildly described – heat level 3 out of 5.
The ending was perfect and I really enjoyed it. We have no cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romance and some spice. I recommend this story. (ljb)
