THIS REVIEW IS FOR BOTH THE AUDIOBOOK AND EBOOK VERSIONS
So interesting and emotional. Love the characters and the plot. The narrator done an excellent job bringing each character to life. There is circumstances around one character that could be a trigger for some. I would recommend this story.
I just can’t stop with this series!
Cate Wilde FBI, with the county deputy Tessa still wonders what happened to their friend Sam. This story answers all their questions!
In this installment of the Widow’s Island series (book 4), the town drunk has been mowed down while riding his bike. It looks to be an easy case to solve, and it is, but the secrets revealed by the person who did it send shockwaves through both deputy Tessa Black and FBI agent Cate Wilde.
Ok guys, I’ve stressed this starting with book two in the series, but you MUST read these books in order. Yes, there’s a mystery that’s solved in each book, but there’s a major plot point in the books that are connected. That’s the disappearance of Tessa and Cate’s friend Sam. In order to see that mystery unfold, you need to read all the books. Believe me, with such good writing, you’ll want to anyways.
The secrets revealed in this book are shocking, not only to the characters, but to you the reader as well. All is not as it seems on the sleepy island. There’s been a storm brewing for 20 years and it all comes out in this book.
Let me tell you, I was shocked! I’m not going to spoil it, I’m just going to say read this series!!
The writing of this series has stayed consistently wonderful, even though there’s actually two authors, and they’re each writing different books in the series. This story is fascinating, the characters feel real, and I can’t get past the overall mystery that runs through the series. I will say that this book ends a bang and I can’t wait for the next one!
**I borrowed this book using my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Yes! This one makes reading the first three in the series just…well, you will find out. A hit and run accident takes the investigation in places that lead Tessa and Cate to a discovery that has been many years in the making.
I volunteered to read and review a readers copy through Netgalley of Bred In The Bone . This is the fourth story in the Widows Island series .
I really enjoyed reading this story .
Like the others in the Widows Island series it’s fantastic . FBI agent Cate Wilde and County deputy Tessa Black grew up together on Widows Island . When they were teenagers their other best friend Samantha Bishop disappeared . Twenty years later Samantha’s necklace has been discovered . The women find themselves questioning the past while new information comes to light . Will they find the answers behind Samantha’s disappearance or will they receive the shock of their lives . This is a well written and absolutely suspenseful story . It has twists and turns that surprise .
A very captivating story . I highly recommend taking the time to read this story and enjoy .
I caught up with the Widow’s Island series before the New Year. Now I need to make time to catch up on ALL of Kendra Elliot’s and Melinda Leigh’s books this upcoming year. I love these two authors!
The fourth novella in the series written by the fabulous Kendra Elliot brings to light a twenty-year mystery of Cate’s and Tessa’s friend’s disappearance. This is the mystery I’ve been waiting on since the beginning of the series, and Kendra left me in shock after finding out what happened to Samantha. This mystery would’ve never been solved if it wasn’t for another investigation that Cate Wilde and Tessa Black have to solve together. A hit-and-run happens with the town drunk, and the victim is tied to their friend’s disappearance twenty years ago. When the truth starts unraveling on what happened to Samantha, it was not something I expected at all. Kendra did a fantastic job with the suspense of the story and how everything came together.
I adored getting back with Cate in the series since she has gone through a lot after what happened to her. She’s still recovering and has to choose if she’s going back to job inland or staying in her hometown. She has help with her decision after certain circumstances happen in this book. There’s also the town Doctor Henry that won me over with how he cared for Cate, especially toward the end. He’s such a sweetheart to her.
I don’t want to give anything away because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read this novella yet. Like I’ve stated in previous reviews of the other novellas that this series is highly recommended for Romantic Suspense readers. The best part is these are short novellas, so don’t take long to read at all. It didn’t take me long to read and finish them before the New Year, and now I can’t wait until October 2020. That’s when the next two novellas release, and I know Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh are going to continue keeping readers on the edge of their seats with the Widow’s Island series.
This is the fourth novella in a series and if this is a new series for you, as it was for me, it would be beneficial to read the previous ones as I felt there was information and history that I was missing out on. There is an element of romance but it is a very minor story line. The majority of this story is the investigation of a new and old mystery that results in an interesting twist. An entertaining fast paced read.
I received a free copy from Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.
This is the fourth book in the Widow’s Island series and just like the 3 before it – I LOVED IT!!! If Melinda and Kendra write them, I will read them. I’m not generally fan of novellas because they are over before they start, but I love this series.
Great characters, great plot, great setting, quick paced, page turner, non stop action, and long awaited answers!!!
#netgalley #sam #Tessa #Cate #Henry #HitandRun
I found myself so captivated with the storyline I couldn’t put it down until the last page. I loved the twists and turns this story took. Not a spoiler but I was glad some questions were answered from the previous three books. I find the writing, characters and story line so engaging and interesting that I have picked up other book from Kendra Elliot.
This well written, engaging romantic suspense novella is a real page turner with a surprising twist and a happily ever after ending. I am looking forward to reading Ms. Elliot’s other entries in the “Widow’s Island” series with great anticipation.
.Widow’s..Island.# 4
BRED TO THE BONE …Kendra Elliott
Driver hitting someone on a bicycle, no skid marks,, nor did the person stop.
The. Victim was not well liked, the name brings back an unsolved, and a personal case for Cate and Tessa. A necklace given to them, saying three sisters, with one missing for twenty years ago. That third piece was just found,. Questions would have wait again, while they solved this murder. Cate on leave, decision of going back to Bellingham, with the FBI, in which she worked hard for. While the romance with Henry was meaning more each day, as well as loving the island. A plot that uncovers secrets long hidden, healing, family ties. Choices of how they are to move forward from murder. Great series, you love the characters and the close connection they have. The meaning of the island and living on it.
Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion by Net Galley and Montlake Publisher.
Bred in the Bone is the fourth Widow’s Island novella and should be read in order with the rest of the series or you’ll miss out on some key information. Cate and Tessa have been looking for their childhood best friend for twenty years. A local hit and run opens the case back up as the friends finally uncover what happened to Samantha so long ago. Fast paced and compact like all novellas, the story unfolds quickly and reaches its satisfying conclusion just as quickly. The story is somewhat predictable but the suspense builds and the ending is solid for a quick, easy afternoon read. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
Well that was a surprising twist. This was a great addition to the series. It was good to finally know what happened to Sam. If you have liked this series you will like this book. It will be fun to find out what happens next.
This fourth book in the Widow’s Island novella series is a great murder mystery with a nice touch of romance mixed in. Investigation of a hit and run death on the island, leads FBI agent Cate Wilde and Detective Tessa Black to uncover some shocking discoveries that start to unravel the mystery of what happened to their childhood friend Samantha.
This is a delightful murder mystery that has surprising twists, suspense, intrigue and some touching romance. I love how real the characters seem, from Cate’s post traumatic anxiety, to her dilemma over what to do about her job and her blossoming feelings for Dr Henry. Her problems and reactions always seem authentic and realistic. This novella could be read as a stand-alone but you would get far more depth and enjoyment if you read the books in order. The duel writers, Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliott, do an excellent job of creating a seamless flow between the novellas in the series, while at the same time producing well written and researched stories. Their character development and intriguing plots have created gripping stories that always leave the reader wanting more.
I received an early copy of this book from NetGalley & Montlake Romance under no obligation to review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
A wonderful follow up to Whisper of Bones (book #3) by Melinda Leigh. Cate Wilde has some decisions to make. Will she return to the mainland and her career at the FBI, or remain on Widows Island with her friends, family and Henry. She assists her friend, Deputy Tessa Black, in the investigation of a hit and run death which leads the two women to possible evidence in the twenty-year old unsolved disappearance of their friend Samantha. Can they hope to finally find out why their friend disappeared? They know that after this much time she must be dead, but they and her mother deserve to know what happened. There are at least two more books planned for this series and I can’t wait! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
(4.5)Knock me over, I did not see that coming, what a twist. Tessa is looking into a hit run. Cate is assisting and following clues on Samantha. It starts with the hit and run. It”s so hard to avoid spoilers Murder, mystery, family’s and a huge shock. My lips are sealed. Thank you Montlake, NetGalley and Kendra Ellot. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were unsolicited.
Bred in the Bone is Book 4 of the Widow’s Island series. This is a very interesting series in that Kendra Elliot focuses her stories with Cate as the main focus and Melinda Leigh writes with Tessa as the main character. Love the unique twist of these 2 author’s collaborations.
I do recommend reading all the stories in this series as the back story of their missing friend Samantha finally comes to an end. Great to finally get some closure.
This is book four of this series. Can be read as a stand alone. A well written story. This one is about FBI Cate Wilde and brings to light the story of her friend that went missing when she was younger. While on a case for a hit and run she finds a lead into the cold case. People and events that she thought she knew come to light with the realization that not everyone is who they seem. Good mystery with plenty of action and attention to details. Looking forward to the next in the series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC. This is my fair and honest opinion.
I really enjoyed this book, I have read several of Kendra Elliot’s books but none from this series. Although it is the 4th book of the series it definitely can be read as a stand alone. This was a super quick and simple read but so much was packed into it, I loved the characters in the book, and will definitely go back and read the other books in the series. I would definitely recommend this book to others.
