Love the opening! It starts with Khloe headbutting a bodyguard and trying to break a door down to get to her kidnapped 14-year-old sister. From the first two pages, you know this is a kick butt heroine who isn’t going to cower. She’s a fighter and not afraid to use her fists and go toe to toe with a bigger opponent, especially when it’s about her brother. I was cheering her on like she was on Pay Per View.
Khloe’s smart. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t do stupid stuff, though. She does–and she knows it. But, It’s stupid, not Too Stupid To Live (TSTL). There’s a difference.
Khloe has a sharp tongue and she’s funny. She’s also not afraid of conflict. Her cracks and snarks and comments are some of the best parts of the book. Not just her, though. Caden and Khloe go at it verbally, and their exchanges and back and forths are entertaining.
This author has real potential but the story was just too loosely woven. If there had been reasons why Khloe and Caden fell in love it would have been more believable. His aunt’s summons felt contrived as it really had no influence on the story other than to remove him from the apartment. If we got to see that the aunt and Khloe’s father were in on it together that would have worked. How did he manage to get to her? Who gave him the information? There was just too much left out. That said; Khloe’s confession in chapter four had to be one of the most honest and heartbreaking. Every word she said rang true. It proved that this author could write and do it well.
A great premise, lots of stuff happening, I loved that my attention got grabbed right from the start. The characters were all so damaged and broken, but they kind of fit together like puzzle pieces. I think there was a lot going on and it could have totally been longer than 8 chapters, so it was rushed and reads fast but would have been even better if there was more detail or resolution. Some loose ends that bothered me, Khloe went to extreme measures to save her sister, but then there is nothing about her sister at all. Like if her father the scumbag would do what he did once, who’s to say he wouldn’t do something worse next time. Her mom was an enabler, obviously, so she just basically added her sister to the catch and release program. At the beginning she said she worked at McDonalds, but then she is an assistant chef who does all the cooking while the real chef is strung out on drugs in the alley? I don’t even have a problem with the instalove thing, it’s a thing I guess in some books, but the little facts bugged me. Then we get to the aunt, who just happens to show up and take Caden away just when Khloe’s nemesis shows up? Pacing, it’s missing some pacing and developmental edits, but the core story is strong and the character development is also there, I just got stuck on the details. 4 1/2 stars for this exciting story!!
Khloe meets Caden under some very unusual circumstances. He then proposes the most preposterous idea to clear up a problem between the two of them. They both have anger issues and what Caden wants might be impossible if they can’t stand to be around each other. Grab this exciting book today to find out what happens with these two very similar people. Great read!!!!

I think this is my first book by Aria Adams *goes to make sure* Yes, it’s the first time I read something from this author.
As main characters go, Khloe and Caden are pretty good. They are people with a harsh past that left them scared in ways that some other could never understand, but they complement each other.
It’s a very fast paced story. Not very long but the flow is good so you keep on reading until the end because you want to know what happens.
I do have to point out the predictability of the plot. I know is a short story, is fiction, is dark romance, all of the things but still, it felt a little too predictable at times, at least for me personally.
The romance is there, is good and is done as best as it can be done in such a short amount of time. I can’t complain and won’t do it, because I enjoyed the story.
I would recommend this book to anyone that likes dark romances but I’ll give a few warnings when it comes to the pace of the story and how predictable it was for me.

This was a novella, and I finished it in about thirty minutes, so a good lunch time read. This has a very good plot, I just felt that the follow through was a bit lacking. I think the fact that everything happened so fast could be the reason that I feel like stuff was missing. Before you have a chance to process what’s going on, it was the next chapter and whatever happened was forgotten. I give this 3 stars.
For my first Aria Adams book, I have to say I was impressed. It is on the shorter side. But inside of it is a good story about two broken-spirited people who find themselves in a way that is surprising.
Caden sells things (surprising things) and when Khloe comes to save her sister from a horrible future. When Caden offers Khloe a way to save her sister.
This is a dirty, hot, and interesting read.

This was touted as a dark romance. The beginning certainly didn’t point in that direction. It was dark. It was violent. It was a horrible situation that did not lend the reader to believe it could ever be romantic. It was a good ride because of the writing which was fluid, descriptive and effective. I read it all in one shot. Great story.
This story felt rushed. The premise was captivating, it had the perfect level of dark, and the characters were interesting. All of those are things that would normally get a five star review from me. I wanted to give this one a five star rating, I really did. I just couldn’t because the whole book moved at a pace that I found lacking. I wanted more development in all of it. I wanted more detail and build-up. If you are in the mood for a quick, dirty read than this one is perfect.
