Elizabeth Cole really seems relaxed writing this book. The flow of the action is captivating and brilliant. I really feel this is a fantastic read.
Breathless in the Dark in the 8th book in Ms. Coles Zodiac series and while I’ve read and enjoyed the others, this would work as a stand-alone. Our hero is an agent for a spy syndicate based on the zodiac and his code name is Virgo. One night while out trying to find info on a person forging government documents he rescues the heroine from a thug who is chasing her. The book blurb does a good job of summarizing the plot.
There is a bit of instalust right from the start but the relationship grows to far more as they work past the pain and secrets in their pasts to puzzle the intent of the forged messages.
I’d rate 4.5 rounded up to 5. I would recommend and it kept me reading nonstop. I received an advanced copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
From the moment Royce Holmes, Earl and spy (a member of the Zodiac), rescues Tamsin Black (actually Thomasina Latimer) from thugs, they work together to catch or thwart an enemy agent who has been using forged documents to create trouble for England’s effort against Napoleon’s France. He doesn’t know it yet, but making this lovely scrivener his secretary may do more than get his correspondence organized. This is an exciting fast-paced story packed with action and adventure. The main characters work well together, although they do have a few disagreements. Tamsin is brave, intelligent, and determined. She has a painful past and has worked hard to survive her circumstances. Royce is quite honorable and protective. He suffers from occasional bouts depression. His work helps, but having Tasmin around seems to do more for him. There is a variety of villains from somewhat dangerous to downright deadly. Mystery, suspense, a budding romance, interesting characters, and a friendly dog named Jasper make this an entertaining and enjoyable story. This is a great series. I recommend this story and the series.
I received an ARC of this story. My review is voluntary.
I was excited to get into this one being it also was not the first time in reading one from this series. The adventure this series brings is much needed now so when you open the pages you will go somewhere else for a much needed while. As with me it was also another country and time following Royce whom is also a spy. One of the good guys though so do not fret. Now he also will encounter Tamsin who has her own tale and secrets which we enjoy seeing about. They need to work together but something else also has them coming together which is also delightful to see build. The suspense and mystery will eat us up bringing us to the edge but the two we follow we bring it all to right.
This book 8 in the Zodiac series and has been long-awaited but worth the wait. This book had me hooked from page 1. It started with adventure and action and never stopped. There was plenty to keep you turning the page. The characters were well written and worked together wonderfully. I like broken hero’s and I found I had a soft spot for this one. The heroine was smart, sassy and well educated and did her best to survive the harsh circumstances she found herself in. It all came together nicely with some answers to the back story that runs through the series. There was some mild sex that this reviewer skipped as always. I received this as an ARC and was very happy to do my review.
