I wasn’t ready. I love when author’s take chances and blow you out of the water with the results. This author pours it all into this book and there are so many things she incorporates that individually would have stomped on an author with less skills. I can’t talk about this book there are too many things if I touched on it would make me give you too many details. This woman is stronger than you can imagine for dealing with the challenges life through her way. Alcohol, abuse, loss, change, recovery, betrayal, rejuvenation. She doesn’t stop though, she continues to grow and succeed and love. When the heart is twisted and torn and spent in every imaginable way, when life has just beat you upside one way and down the other, when all you can do is take one step at a time, when all you can do is take one breath at a time, you learn to breathe again.
This is my first read by this author and yup it was lost in my humongous tbr stack. I am so happy to have found this and I will most definitely be digging up the rest of her work that’s buried in there. She has an amazing way with words. Her book brought many things to mind which caused me to completely connect with her characters and live their pain and emotions. I need more of this author and author’s like her. Amazing read.
Oh man this book gutted me, had me ugly crying more then once, but I loved it. Amber is evil I swear too it, though she does make it all better in the end. This was my first book by Amber Lacie, but it won’t be my last that’s for sure. EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO READ THIS BOOK so stop what to your doing and for get it….. Amber Lacie is now known as Queen of Ugly Cries!!

Breathe had all the feels. I love tough characters who go through everything but still manage to find a silver-lining within life. With Breathe, you immediately connect with these characters because they are just so real…
Amber Lacie you’ve done it again with your leading men. Holden was such an amazing character. So, strong, and supportive, never giving up on his girl…I love that. Men that aren’t afraid to show how much they really care for the ones they love.
I love this quote: “This? This is me loving you. This is me taking care of you. This is me fixing all the pieces some other asshole destroyed.”
In my opinion Michael didn’t get what he truly deserved. I felt like maybe Holden missed his chance to really stick up for Carsten but Owen held his own.
Another part I really loved was: “Sometimes, you hurt so bad you cannot cry. Your soul is ripped and bleeding. There is nothing left in you to even shed a tear. So, you close your eyes, allowing that piece of you to die. It never truly goes away, it never heals. It doesn’t wither over time. It is a constant ache tucked away in the back of your mind, reminding yourself that you once loved so hard that you forgot to breathe. What makes this bittersweet is the person who loves you after this, knows they won’t get that piece of you. They know they will have everything else but that piece, and yet, they love you anyway.”
Breathe by Amber Lacie, rightfully dubbed the “ugly cry” book, literally took my breath away. I fell in love with the characters in this enchanting novel. This author has this amazing ability to pour her emotions into the page, making sure you feel every heartbreak, every laugh, every terrifying moment and every “I Love You”. The suspense had my stomach in knots. The way it causes your heart to stutter one second and soar in the next is hauntingly beautiful. I recommend this book to anyone brave enough to witness love that lasts “until the last star burns out”. ” Don’t worry, baby. I’ve got you”

This is my first story by Amber Lacie and she took me in this emotional journey and didn’t disappoint me in the end. Definitely recommend this story to anyone looking for a good cry!!!
** spoiler alert ** Personally I had a really hard time reading this story. The writing style was good, very few editing errors. It just didn’t grab my interest. The characters were unlikable for me. Carsten was so fragile, she NEEDED a man in order to live, I didn’t like that. The thing with Micheal was hard, I understand how that could effect someone. However, Holden, I didn’t like him……. at all. He was borderline creepy stalker =/ Owen however was amazing. He put the pieces back together and made her want to help herself. He didn’t try to cover it up or hide the issue, he helped her fix it. Self confidence is a bugger, I loved Owen for what he did.
There should be an option of more than five stars! I have read all of Amber Lacie’s books and have loved each and every one of them. But this one definitely takes the cake! It was so sad but beautiful at the same time. I love Amber’s writing and her books keep getting better with each one.
Breathe had me in tears throughout the book. It is very intense and a on a roller coaster. Amber keeps you reading from beginning to end. I really felt Carsten with everything she has gone through. She is such a strong person to go through so much and overcome it. But I don’t want to get into too much as I don’t’ want to give away the story. But if you love Amber’s books and an ugly cry…you have to get Breathe! Just make sure you have some tissues. You won’t regret this one click.
Omg what a read. Carsten’s story is an intense read but beautifully written. If you haven’t read Ambers books yet do it I would highly recommend as a must read.
The title of this book is a literal reminder that while you are reading it, YOU. MUST. BREATHE! I am not one to get overly emotional with every single book I read and am not a crier, so for me to say I found myself holding my breath in anticipation of the next page, that speaks volumes. Turn page, read, reminder to breathe….repeat. Guaranteed to make you laugh, shout in anger, freeze with anticipation and probably shed a tear or two…or five.
From the prologue, I knew I was in for a journey. Amber took a leap, and set the expectation right from the beginning that you were in for it. She didn’t disappoint. This book is polar opposite of the last release, but the writing is equally wonderful. Her character development is thorough, and right from the start I was invested…sucked right in to Carsten’s life which made me both want to escape from it, and live in it.
I absolutely 120% recommend this book. If you are looking for a “new to you” author who can give you all the feels, well, here she is!
Wow! This one has me crying as I am writing this. I love this authors writing as she pulls you in with these amazing characters that capture your heart and soul. This is a beautifully written & developed novel with no plot holes. This book will have you on an emotional roller-coaster ride so get your tissues ready. We meet Carsten who is a beautiful young women who has had her heart broken, mended, shattered again, then broken into pieces & put back together. As with all of this authors novels there are some twist and turns that you won’t see coming. I was captivated right from the beginning till the end. I highly recommend reading book as its is remarkable & totally worth the read as all of this authors books are as I am a huge fan of this author. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reading copy of this book.
