He was too young for her. A decade too young.Rebecca Stravokraus was the premier publicist in the professional sports. She was extremely smart, capable, and could spin a story like a spider spins its web. She also didn’t lack in confidence. But there was one thing she couldn’t do.L.O.V.E.It was the ultimate dirty word, the one emotion that made men, women, and all variations in between turned into … all variations in between turned into possessed, insane beings.
Humanity was not built to love. They were built to work, to play hockey, to fuc—
Cough. To have a great time between the sheets.
That was enough—it had been enough.
Until Kevin declared that Rebecca was what he wanted, until they spent several glorious nights in bed together . . . until she began to feel.
That couldn’t be. Not now. Not in the future. Not ever.
But Kevin had decided on her and if there was one thing she’d learned about stubborn, alpha hockey players, it was that they didn’t give up.
And Rebecca had to admit that in this case she didn’t want Kevin to give up.

I really liked this one! its not very often that we get a older heroine, younger hero, so it was refreshing! I can’t wait to see what comes next!
As a fan of sports romances I was thrilled to discover this new-to-me author and her sweet and sensual tale featuring an older woman fighting her attraction to a younger man determined to win her over. Add in appealing friends and teammates and you’ll find a book series that will put a smile on your face while falling for a slew of charming and endearing hockey players.
Rebecca Stravokraus has been in the background of this series from almost the beginning so it’s about time readers learn her backstory…and what a heartbreaking backstory she has. The loss of her parents and her broken hopes for the future have closed off her heart and keeps her focused on work. Work she can control and with her put-together looks no one will figure out her past or feel sorry for her. She just wants to keep going but it’s clear that the team’s newest player has no intention of being ignored. With each turn of the page he takes her on a merry chase that slowly wore her down in a heartwarming journey to HEA. Through it all Rebecca’s a likable heroine with friends reminiscent of my own friends with both playful and supportive moments. She’s a strong-willed heroine who stood by her parents too, but when it comes to herself she’s determined to take care of things on her own and each time Kevin did something caring for her it threw her for a loop while completely charming me.
Kevin Hayes is at the top of the hockey ranks, a young man in age but wise beyond his years as he has decided that he’s waited for Rebecca long enough. The death of his father may have helped drive him to winning The Cup, but it’s his parents long-time marriage that’s pushing him to finally tell Rebecca how he feels. Her feelings regarding his being ten years younger have her pushing him away while he forges ahead with sweet words and deeds that show her she’ll never be alone as long as he’s around. She may feel unworthy of a HEA with him, but Kevin knows what he wants and as he won her over so too did I become enamored with him. On a whole Kevin’s sweet with a kind heart he’s not afraid to unleash. He loves his mother but is quite talented when it comes to flirtations in this quick yet satisfying romance.
Though this is the sixth installment in the Gold Hockey series it stands strongly on its own courtesy of its likable main couple. It’s a fast-paced read with very little angst, a slow-burn journey teeming with sexual tension that kept me rooting for this pair to finally couple up. I enjoyed glimpses of previous characters, and a few yet to find their own HEA, in this tale with action both on the ice and off that I definitely recommend.
Seriously, I have got to find the time to #bingeread this series from the beginning!!
First, I’d like to say that nothing pleases me more than a cover that delivers. This cover delivered in spades! When I look at a cover like that, I expect serious heat. Even tho this journey is a slow burn, these two sizzled and it just made me so damn happy! However, that’s not what made this story stand out. THE FEELS PEOPLE! What an incredible story of courage and passion and living and breaking down barriers and happiness. SO MUCH HAPPINESS! Man, you guys are really missing out if you don’t grab this one 🙂
Elise Faber heats things up with Breakout (Gold Hockey #6). This is Kevin Hayes’ and Rebecca Stravokraus’ (PR Rebecca) story. I have been looking forward to their book. It lived up to my expectations. This novel takes place in San Francisco. It is suitable for adult readers.
I enjoyed this story. Kevin is ten years younger than Rebecca. He has been incredibly patient in pursuing her. I appreciated that Kevin and Rebecca could relate to one another; they both lost loved ones. They had similar experiences. As a result, their age gap wasn’t such a big deal.
Elise Faber does a great job with this book. The story is heartwarming and realistic. The hockey scenes are well executed. You could read this novel as a stand alone, but I suggest reading the previous books where Kevin and Rebecca are mentioned. I recommend this book to people who enjoy sports romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book.
Again, right from the start. POW! Seriously, I’m in love with Kevin. I loved that he didn’t give up on Rebecca. He always had faith that things would work out even when Rebecca was like….nah. He was so sweet. I didn’t want this book to end.
Breakout by Elise Faber is book 6 in the Gold Hockey series. This is Rebecca and Kevin’s story.
Wow this book has alot that will have you glued to the read- age gap (Woman 34/man 24), sports romance (hockey), slow burn romance, angst, twists, heartbreaking love, passion, tons of feels, push/pull, emotional rollercoaster ride that will take you places. This is in a series but can be read as a standalone book. Really enjoyed Rebecca and Kevin’s love story. Started off slow but wow did the story pick up the pace. Loved the chemistry and the sweet HEA.
My Rating: 4.4 stars ********
BREAKOUT is the sixth book in the Gold Hockey series. This is an emotional and engaging story about a young hockey player and an older woman. They both work for the same team and shouldn’t get involved, but can’t seem to help the attraction. They have to overcome some issues and work through the obstacles in their way to be together. I enjoyed this heartwarming s story and can’t wait to read more in this series.
Also, strong hearts need love

This part is about Rebecca and Kevin. The book is about the age — gap when the man is much younger. (That’s mine too, and I think that’s great :).
Kevin wants to win Rebecca’s heart, but she does not dare for many reasons.
Elise Fabers style of writing is fantastically clear and direct as usual. I’m impressed, that Kevin never gave up on Rebecca, he’s so straight forward. This time the erotic scenes are inconspicuously woven into the story but these fantasies made my head cinema go crazy and the book something special. Because they wish they would…..
I really enjoyed this pairing and now I’m looking forward to Dr Gabe Carter and Nutritionist Rebecca.
Book 6 in the Gold Hockey series where each one can be read as a standalone. An older woman/younger man romance that will hit all the right spots. Loved Rebecca and Kevin. They were such a great couple. I really need to go back and read the rest of this series. Great story.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Breakout is a fantastic older woman/younger man hockey romance! I loved it! I couldn’t get enough! Rebecca and Kevin were great characters! Rebecca has reservations about getting involved with Kevin, but Kevin was going to do everything he could to prove to Rebecca that they are the perfect for each other.
Breakout is a well written, entertaining, emotional, heart tugging romance. I enjoyed it so much and I’m sure you will too!
I can’t wait for the next book in the Gold Hockey series!
This is the 6th book in this fascinating series and is Rebecca and Kevin’s story. This is a beautifully written story which is an emotional roller coaster, and is about conquering personal fears and insecurities, and taking chances and love. I was totally hooked and intrigued throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend for all readers.
If you have been following along with the Gold Hockey series then you know who PR Rebecca is. I love her. She is fabulous at her job. I love that she gets a chance at love since she has been right along side all the couples in the Gold Hockey series. Breakout is just fabulous. I love Kevin. He is super sweet and knows what he wants and that is PR Rebecca. I love how the age gap doesn’t stop Kevin at all. He is very mature and set in his ways for his age. I love the battle within Rebecca when it comes down to Kevin and accepting she is not alone anymore. This book may bring a few tears to your eyes but it will also bring lots of smiles and maybe a giggle or two. I have loved every book in the Gold Hockey series so far and I can’t wait for more.
Elise Faber I predict that you and I are going to have a long and beautiful relationship from this book forward. “Breakout” was my first book by you and it most certainly will not be my last. It ticked ALL my boxes (and some I didn’t even know I had):
Reverse age gap
Sports romance (specifically hockey – the best kind)
Slow burn
Sexy as sin hockey playing god
Strong, opinionated, ballsy heroine
Supportive friends and family
Toe curling happily ever after.
All this plus so much more. But what makes this such a phenomenal read is how fantastically well written this book is. The words jump off the page and you can’t stop yourself from gobbling them up, in fact, I did not put this book down until I finished it. TBR this book right away and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Breakout is the next saga in Elise Faber’s Gold Hockey series. We get to meet Kevin and Rebecca, an older woman, younger man romance, love to see this in a book. This book is more than just your typical romance, Ms. Faber really delves into her characters minds and feelings, their losses and loves. Kevin in an alpha male, Rebecca is heartbroken over a loss in her family, I think Kevin comes in at just the right time, and they make one heck of a couple.
Publicist Rebecca Stravokraus lives and breaths for her work, when she isn’t in the office working, it often follows her home. She knows she is a workaholic and she likes it that way, because then she doesn’t have to admit to herself that she is lonely, and craves the attention of a man.
But letting a man in would mean the possibility of a relationship or taking a step towards the dreaded word “love”… and she doesn’t do love. Her life has too many “what-ifs” in it to promise anyone forever or give her heart to them… it just wouldn’t be fair to them.
But then a handsome hockey player named Kevin waltzes through her office door and insists on a date, and at first she turns him down, and uses their age difference as an excuse for her answer. But he continues to come back, send thoughtful gifts, and begins to wear her down… eventually earning himself a date. After that one date it’s evident that there should be many more to follow… but that would mean she would be letting someone in, and that scares her more than she cares to admit!
Breakout is a story of healing, finding love, conquering fears, and finding to courage to live without excuses. With each page I turned I felt their pain, passion, and apprehension, but all of that was no match for their hearts and the connection they had. Now that was electric! What they brought to the pages squeezed my heart in all the right places, and gave my feels a major workout… anticipation is at an all time high with these two. I loved every word of this one, it was sweet, steamy, and kept me captivated from beginning to end! Highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it pages hold an unforgettable literary escape!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Breakout is more than just a May/December romance. It is a journey of self discovery that tugs at your emotions. Faber delves deep into the insecurities that plague the human psyche. Through the eyes of Rebecca and Kevin, we learn what it means to be courageous, how it feels to be vulnerable and what it means to fall in love. From sensory overload to impactive emotion, Breakout is in a class all it’s own.
This was a heartfelt, feel good novella. PR Rebecca is an amazing woman who has been through so much loss in her 34 years. Kevin is the younger man who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. And he wants Rebecca; not for a night, not for a few weeks. No he wants her for forever. Kevin is such an amazing alpha gentleman. He walks her to her car, carries her bag. Hell he gives her a little surprise every day. He also won’t take no for an answer because he knows she wants him too. I adore him for that. He’s willing to fight for what he wants. Rebecca has walls up and she wants them to stay up, though Kevin makes it real hard. I love her for fighting. I understood why she did and my heart broke for her. And even though I wanted her to make him fight harder (yeah that was the evil side of myself) I love that she finally gave in to him and knocked her walls down. I think it made her stronger. This was a wonderful feel good story with little to know drama. Just what I needed. Great read and now I wait patiently for the next book in the series. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
I enjoyed this book. It is an older woman/younger man romance. Kevin was an epic book boyfriend. He may have been younger but he knew what he wanted and was willing to do the work to get it. I really loved his sweetness and determination. Rebecca had heavy emotional baggage and many fears and reservations. I thought that these two made a great couple and I found them easy to root for.
4.5 Stars for Breakout
This is the first book by this author and it certainly won’t be the last in fact I need to check out the previous books in the Gold Hockey Series. This may be book 6 in the series but it can certainly be read as a stand-alone although I’m sure like me you will be left wanting to pick up the previous books.
This is an emotional read that will certainly tug at your heartstrings, it’s a romance that’s full of insecurities and vulnerability with characters you can’t help loving because this author’s writing makes it so easy to connect on so many different levels.
This book will appeal to all romance lovers as well as lovers of sports romance. This is a well written entertaining read that ticked all my boxes, Rebecca and Kevin’s journey captivated from the first page to the last line and once I started there was no putting it down so please make sure you have time to finish what you start when you one click this entertaining must read. Looking forward to reading more from Elise Faber.
