From NYT bestselling author Carrie Ann Ryan, comes a brand new series where second chances don’t come often, and overcoming an unexpected loss means breaking everything you knew.Violet Knight fell for Cameron at the wrong time. And when he left, she thought her life was over. But then, after the worst happened, she truly understood what that phrase meant. Now, he’s not ready for a second chance, … second chance, and she’s not offering one. Though given that their families have been forced together after losing one of their own, she knows there’s no turning back. Not this time. Not again. Not when it comes to Cameron.
Cameron Connolly never wanted to hurt Violet, but there were reasons he had to leave all those years ago—not that she’d believe him if he told her what they were. He not only left her, he also left his foster brothers. Honestly, Cam didn’t want to come back to Denver to help run his father’s failing brewery. But when it comes to his brothers, he knows he’ll find a way to make it work. Perhaps he’ll even earn Violet’s forgiveness and face the connection they both thought long forgotten in the process. Because he wanted her then, but now he knows he needs her. He just hope she needs me.

Great read!
Very depressing for first 75%. The author does warn you that it is about depressed people … and it is deeply depressing. At 75% I actually had a good laugh. It does resolve into a HEA.
All of her books are great
Violet and Cameron are complex characters who really want to do better and be better. I rooted for them throughout the book. A great read!
Wonderful characters, very interesting and unusual theme. Kept my interest through out.
Can two messed-up people manage to deal with all their problems, great and small and manage to find a happy ever after? They both have trust issues, especially since he broke her heart by leaving with no word for 7 years. Honest communication is one of the hardest commodities to find!
Love this series!!
Breaking Without You
Great characters and a story that pulls at the heartstrings from the start right up until the end, the story is very easy to get into and follow along with
This book had all the feels. I absolutely loved this story, Violet is going through a rough time after losing a friend to suicide. She needs answers and is working with her ex’s new wife. On top of that, her old flame is back after leaving without saying goodbye. Will it all be too much to handle or can these two help each other while they’re both going through rough times?
This is a VERY emotional read. Be prepared to perhaps yell at your Kindle from time to time throughout this book, I know I did. This is a second chance romance that will take you through ALL the emotions and make you feel like you’ve been through the emotional wringer when you are finished. Happy then could find their second chance and hold onto what was lost.
Breaking Without You is book one in the Fractured Connections series and it appears that each book can be read as a standalone, but characters will crossover so if you are like me you will want to read in order to catch those little things you didn’t catch in the other books that others might not even be aware of if they are reading out of order. These Connolly brothers didn’t have it easy until later in life thanks to a loving couple. You will feel the heartache, the tension and the stress that they endure trying to fix their Fractured Connection that occurred and how to save the family bar.
In this story we meet Cameron and Violet plus the whole clan. Cameron you will see did the best thing he did, and you can agree with him to a point except for maybe giving Violet a reason back then. But…that is life and life decided to take them on a different course. It was not the right time for these two is how I see this. Years have past but the connection between these two is still real whether they wanted to believe it or not. They need each other and you will see why.
This is a second chance romance and at fixing mistakes that caused the issue between them and the brothers. Emotional and healing all in one. It touches on some sensitive topics that I believe can be healing or eye opening for others who may be going through the same issues. I for one can side with Violet on the headaches so it was nice to read about this. While we do get the brothers story and Alison’s snippets, I would love to see a novella down the road on the before story of the brothers and Alison’s connection. Best way to state this without details that would lead to a spoiler. After reading about these characters I’m excited to see where the stories are headed for Brendon and Aiden. Dillon is such a wise one for his age so hopefully we see a story on him in the future as well.
This story had me feel so many emotions. I absolutely loved it. Second chances with the one you love can be hard. Violet was dealing with trusting Cameron again while dealing the stages of grief as she lost her best friend making it even more difficult. Cameron had his own issues with his brothers. If your love is true like Cameron and Violet’s, it will be worth it. Loved meeting the Connelly brothers. Cannot wait for the rest of the series.
Breaking Without You is the first book in the Fractured Connections Series by Carrie Ann Ryan. It’s the story of Cameron and Violet. These two dated as teens and were desperately in love when Cameron just up and leaves. When Violet’s best friend dies, her and Cameron reconnect and sparks start to fly again, even though they both try to fight it. Cameron and Violet’s story took hold of my heart and didn’t let go. This book has all the feels. They are both broken people who are trying to put the pieces back together. I can’t wait to see where Carrie Ann leads us with this series.
A stellar beginning to a new series! The foundation laid is sensitive and heartbreaking because it is about loss in myriad ways. Not just loss of a loved one but loss of self, loss of being able to move forward, loss of connections, loss of place… The character’s struggle is a visceral thing and you can’t help but hold your breath, hoping they get their happy, or some form of it, when they reach the other side. The characters and the story make you think and wonder but most of all they make you feel; and that makes this book all worthwhile.
A heartwarming second chance at love story, that lays the groundwork for a new series, linked to the Montgomery Ink – Colorado Spring series.
Violet and Cameron used to be a couple, but then Cameron left, suddenly and without an explanation. Life happens and several years later they are thrown into each other’s path again. The strength of their connection is very clear and convincing, even with so much time having past. The only thing that I had a harder time believing was the reason behind his mysterious disappearance as well as how that cause a break between Cameron and his brothers too. Not that it wasn’t a serious enough issue, it absolutely was, but rather the way they all cut ties without talking things over bugged me some.
Violet spends a lot of time in introspection, so we have a clear idea of who she is and what she’s feeling, but it does sometimes take away a little of the action and pacing of the story. She’s having an understandably hard time coping with the loss of her friend, Alison, and figuring out if she can trust Cameron with her heart again. As a result, there’s quite an air of sadness permeating the story that never completely lifts. I’d have liked it better if there had been more opportunities for Cameron and Violet to enjoy the actually falling in love part of their relationship. We basically leave them when the good part is only just starting.
The Connolly brothers are both lovable and frustrating, and communication so isn’t their thing. However, I really liked the “brothers reunite” storyline and in fact, I loved it as much as the romance between Violet and Cameron. Declan is my favorite and though still young, it would be lovely to have him get his own HFN/HEA throughout the course of this series.
Fresh start of a new series! Love CAR’s ability to create a full cast of characters that all feel real and uniquely themselves, no cookie cutter characters in the bunch. And I liked Violet’s crew but for me, the real stars of this book were the Connolly brothers. I felt way more invested in their reconnection than I was in Violet and Cameron’s. Definitely a darker emotional story woven through but I liked the way everyone kept going, for each other and for themselves.
This was an amazing read the first story of the Knight sisters loved it. Violet and Cameron were amazing to read about I loved the chemistry and the passion. I cannot wait to see what the other books in his series will bring.
Wow this woman kills me when she writes and every series I have read has pulled me in .
This is one about second chances , even if they both dont think it is on the table, people do dumb things for the right reasons and this one shows just what those choices can do.
Wow!! Carrie Ann Ryan writes a thoughtful and touching story of friends whose relationships are put to the test in ways that will hit all your feels. This book is a wonderful, heart-breaking, heart-mending read.
This is the first book of a new series by the author. This book is emotional at the beginning but well worth reading it is excellently done! I loved this book it kept me interested and I couldn’t put it down I’m looking forward to the next book of the series. I highly recommend this book.
