I felt the book progressed way too fast, I don’t know if the author intended to do this but for me, it was really unsettling and it was just way too fast, they meet and they are in love within 2 days. It felt very insta-lovey and didn’t have much substance to the actual relationship. For the majority of the book, it also felt too focused on how people looked rather than their personality and me personally I prefer to get to know each character by their personality rather than hearing about their looks and how hot or cute they are. I just I didn’t like it.
Also another problem I found for me was info dumping! At the start of the book Bria goes to a diner and she meets a little boy called Chris and then something happens and Chris holds onto her, and when the grandpa comes over to them he goes into a story about how Bria is lucky that Chris hooked onto her like that because he doesn’t really like females. The grandpa kind of gave Bria a family history and it was just a lot of information dumping that wasn’t needed. There could have been a more effective way of that being told and explained. For me, it didn’t work.
Also, the characters were meant to be university kind of age, it felt a lot younger. Reed and Bria just felt a lot younger than they actually were.
Although in retrospect it might be four little things, but for me, this is very important and it did affect what I rated the book in the end. I loved Bria and Reed’s relationship by the end of the book it was really hard for me to like it because of the insta love but it won over in the end. Bria’s relationship with Chris was super cute and I loved the scenes with them two together. The characters took a bit of time growing on me. I liked the plot if it had been slowed down this book would have gotten a much higher rating but because of the pacing, I wasn’t really that keen.
I’m a firm believer in love at first sight. I don’t feel as though love has a time table. I love when a book can veer away from the normal pull and tug of attraction…will they get together, how do they feel about each other, when will they kiss already?? lol. At times I enjoy the frustration of wanting them to ‘hurry up and get together!’ but sometimes I want to see more of the couple together, instead of just that final moment in the book where they confess their love and boom it’s over. I said all that to say I loved this story! The couple knew from the beginning what they wanted and the author let us see more of their relationship building throughout the story. I love these Ryan boys! I was excited to see that the next book releasing, part 4, is about Jax because he was one of my favorites. I look forward to reading more of this series, I bought book 2 as soon as I finished this one!
5 amazing stars!!! First off I had no idea when I first started reading this book that it was her debut novel!!!!!! And omg if this is her first book and she hit it out of the park I can’t wait to see what the future holds for her. I absolutely loved this book and all The Ryans!!!! I am already missing them and am planning on a reread and can’t wait for more books about this lovable family. I loved the dual pov’s in this book, my only thing was I would have loved to hear the epilogue in both instead of just one but that’s just me being picky…lol
