For Glick and his friends, it’s them against the world.Literally.There’s no food. The ground is toxic. The water is filled with burning chemicals. And the humans want Glick and his kind destroyed. They’re weak, hungry and scared but they have each other. Will that be enough for them to survive when everyone is trying to kill them?
Breaking the Brush Man; book 3 of the Chimera Chronicles features Glick, a tiny frightened Brush Man – one of Conguise’s chimeras. The story tracks Glick from birth through to his making a friend. The sympathy and fear we feel for this tiny little creature as he navigates adventures and danger is typical of the calibre of O’Dea’s writing. The only issue I have with these stories is how short they are, but I’m not sure I could stand them being longer. I kept having to put the story down to give myself a break from the anxiety!
I started this spin-off from the original series with the free first or prequel – Escape. I was thankful to see this series also has a free first in series. It is so good and captivating that I knew I’d have to read more. When the opportunity to read ARC of this book came up, how could I not take it, especially as poor as I am? But it would have been worth cutting out a meal or two to get more of this series. The spin-off Breaking the Brush Men is an absolutely captivating read.

Survival isn’t easy for anyone who has any connection to Professor Conguise, even when succeeding and being able to breed it’s no guarantee of getting to live! This is the impossible position these creatures are placed in. The author has produced another amazing story that is so very well written and draws you in to the pain and suffering that is dealt out on a daily basis in the labs and on level 5. A must-read book.

Breaking The Brush-Men is a book that grabs you right from the start. It takes you into their world and keeps you there. This third book in the series is a bit different from the other Conguise Chronicles books, but is just as intriguing, just as exciting, and just as thought-provoking as the first two, Rise Of The Riverman and Feeding Fersia. This is storytelling at it’s best. It has a fascinating plot that keeps the reader captivated from start to finish. The imagery and setting are superb. The depth of the characters, both human and and nonhuman are extraordinarily dynamic and at times, spine tingling. If you have wondered what it would be like to be in the mind of an alien species, you need wonder no longer. This book takes you into an alien creature’s mind, a mind so like our own, and yet, so bizarrely different. This book takes you deeply into the minds of both humans and Brush-Men. You will have to decide for yourself which minds are the most alien. This book along with the others, will also give you a peek into another mind, the strange and wonderful mind of the author, L.S. O’Dea.
I like the originality of the characters and world building that is in the Lake of Sins series and resulting spin offs. It is refreshing to have not only a break from the same old cliches (which I still enjoy as well, but like something new sometimes), but also get views and insight into the opposing perceptions and intriguing ideas like the inhereted memory idea in this one that is different from usual instincts but actually “remembering” certain things that the individual hasn’t actually experienced yet. Could thst explain some fears or phobias?

Each room of Professor Conguises laboratory is filled with pain, horror and tragedy. No one is safe, whether they are almighty, guard or house servant. Genetic experiments creating gruesome monsters, indifference to pain and suffering are all part of daily life on level 5. I liked following the trials and tribulations of Glick, Bumpers and Flea; I wish the story could have been longer as I want to know what is going to happen next. This is the third installment of the Conguise Chronicles and once again L.S.ODea delivers with a punch. I would recommend the whole series, it is truly amazing.

Another great book from L. S. O`Dea. Conguise is up to his experiments, as always he wants perfection. He never knows how they will turn out and doesn’t care.

Just imagine – tiny little creatures that eat flesh. This author has done it again! She has given us another glimpse into the mind of an evil genius who combines two species into something that will give you nightmares. I highly recommend these books and this series. I can’t wait to find out the next horror Conguise has dreamed up to bring into the world!

Since he had been born they wanted him dead but nothing seemed to kill him and his friends. Others were used for genetics but not him. Can they survive? Can they find they need? Follow them to see what is really going on

Once again fans are treated to a trip to the dystopian world of Lake of Sins. Another one of the genetic manipulated species has their origins revealed. If you have been following this series, be assured that this latest installment continues in the same vein as it’s predecessors. Once again, enter the world of Guards, Servants and Almightys, follow the twisted schemes and dreams of the characters as they struggle for survival in a world that could only spring from the mind of L. S. O’Dea. For fans of the series it is a real “gotta get it”. For those who haven’t read any of the series, what are you waiting for? You could start with this one as it is quite stand alone, but it is so much better reading them all!
