After 2 years, 7 months, and 5 days, Jax Littleton broke up with Henry Culliver on graduation day. Henry’s still mourning Jax a year and a half later when he meets Easter Bennett, a redheaded painter who he finds catching fireflies. But Easter’s never kept a guy around for more than one lunar cycle. Henry’s determined to teach her that a relationship can be more than sex. He put Jax together. Why … Why not Easter?
Then Jax comes back to town. Easter doesn’t want to lose Henry. So: package deal. You date Henry, you date me. But the reality of negotiating a three-way relationship is more than any of them bargained for.
Full of twists and turns, this novel “will keep you reading,” says one reviewer, with its memorable characters and high drama. It examines the real side of three people falling in love: and how hard it can be to fit into each other’s lives while still developing a real relationship.

This is an enjoyable book as they go through a lot of feelings for each other and have to deal with their pasts and the feelings of others.
Julia McBryant kills me every single time. I’ve been looking forward to this book since I first heard about it months ago.
Jax is one of my all-time favorite characters in this world and I couldn’t wait to see him again. He’s so broken and lonely and he needs all the love in the world. He had that with Henry until insecurities and mental illness got in the way and tore them apart.
Henry is Wills’ twin. He’s been lost since Jax left him, but he’s getting better. With the help of his friends and family he’s learning how to cope.
Easter is Audie’s childhood best friend and I was apprehensive to read about her because if you know Audie’s history you know what she’s witnessed and I did not want to relive that in any capacity. Other than that I love Easter. She’s tough and brave and brilliant. She goes after what she wants when Jax comes back in the picture and she’s not willing to compromise.
The relationship between the three of them doesn’t seem like it could work. Especially with the ultimatum that Easter throws Jax’s way. But it does. It does because they’re all a little bit broken but something about the three of them together just works.
Jax and Henry alone were volatile and Henry spent much of his time picking up Jax’s broken pieces. Now both of them are shattered and Easter is there to bridge the gap between them. It’s not perfect. They fight, there’s jealousy and hurt feelings, but they manage to make it work because their love is stronger than anything.
Julia McBryant is a brilliant writer who can turn the ordinary into something beautiful and magical with her prose. She took these three broken characters and she didn’t fix them, because you can’t just slap a bandaid on some of their problems. But she does give them the tools and support they need in order to better themselves and become more stable in their life and relationships.
I need more of these three because while they get their HFN I can never let the characters that this author writes go because she’s just that good.
This book had a different take on the MMF relationship that I hadn’t read before. Easter and Henry start a relationship almost instantly. They both are a bit broken and Henry must convince Easter to start a relationship with him. When Easter is finally settled and comfortable in her relationship with Henry, Jax, Henry’s ex comes back into the picture. This leaves Henry very torn as he loves Easter but still has feeling for Jax. Easter decides that they should all try a relationship together because she doesn’t want to loose Henry and wants him to be happy.
I felt very torn about this book because while I liked it, it is labeled as #1 in a series and there are back stories and sided storied that are alluded to but are never fully explained. It made me feel like I was missing something and should have read other book first. This story was good but it just felt incomplete.
I really liked the character growth and how they were flawed. Their new relationship did not instantly work out. The characters were real. Sometimes selfish, insecure, and hurt. I liked that things didn’t magically work out.
Waited for this book, had to read it and yes it was amazing! I still miss him but life goes on or so I tell myself even though I know down to the minutes when he left. Then I meet her Easter and she’s everything I always knew I wanted for a girl but why is it I always have to fix the broken to make them mine. It doesn’t matter because I will do everything in my power to make this work and hopefully it will be enough to make her stay and be mine forever…but then I get a phone call that could change everything Easter and I have built, Jax’s wants me back and now what am I suppose to do.
There is probably not a relationship that isn’t part of this book, and that is a great strength. Family dynamics, the twins, Jax and Henry, Henry and East, Jax and Henry and East, Jax and East – and they are sensitively portrayed. Prejudice and closed minds will make your heart ache for the characters. There’s a very high heat level too – not for the fainthearted! But, it’s wordy and something about that didn’t appeal to me – but you may love it. Honestly, the story overcomes that, so my recommendation is to take a chance and read this. I think Julia McBryant’s characterizations are her strongest point; you KNOW the characters by the end of the book – this isn’t a remote view of what happens.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
The first but not last book by Julia McBryant that I will read. This is one of those books that toys with you one minute you’re so frustrated with how slow the story starts, almost to the point of it being a DNF. Then Julia captavities you with how sweet romantic and steamy Henry Jax and Easter are together. Also thought the dynamics of how you make 3 person relationship work when you have have to hide one of you from the public, were really fleshed out and gave good thought to. Would have liked more of all three at the end hope we are going to get another book of these three
Good story with relatable characters. Very steamy. My only critique is that it jumped from thought to thought, scene to scene. The story didn’t transition much, which made it difficult to know what was going on. It was confusing at times. I would read more of her books and want to start with the first book to get a better understanding of the characters.
Julia McBryant has written a beautiful story showing how there is no perfect definition for a true relationship. She shows raw, real feelings and the trials that come along with a non traditional, or really any relationship. This book was beautiful, heartbreaking, and real all in one. I highly recommend reading this amazing story.
Easter (East) is a successful art student. Henry is a law student. They meet when she is catching fireflies and there is an instant attraction. Henry wants to prove to East that there is more to life than easy sex, that they can have a real relationship.
Jax was in a relationship with Henry for over 2 1/2 years before he broke up with him to avoid a long distance relationship. After a very long year, Jax shows up to see Henry. East is crushed and thinks her relationship is over. She proposes that they all 3 try to be in a relationship together.
Henry is in love with both East and Jax. What he wants most is for them to also fall in love with each other. Things are very rocky in the beginning, but East and Jax learn to like each other and eventually fall in love.
After another dinner with Henry’s family, Jax realized that they will never be able to be public with their relationship and he will always be the “best friend”. This drives him to leave. Henry and East are devastated. He drinks way too much and she wants to be lonely alone.
After months apart, East sees Jax when she is out. They know they want to make the relationship work. Will Henry be able to give it another chance?
The feelings in this book are amazing.
The characters feel real and true and are totally genuine in my eyes with the way they deal with their issues.
The roadblocks along the way and the closed minds of people made me cry. I loved the characters and the way they grow and connect with each other is purely engrossing and magical.
The sexy times are amazing and hotter than the centre of the sun and are really well written.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author….but it certainly won’t be my last. Massive warning DEFINITELY NSFW (or right now during Covid-19 I guess that should be NSFHome!!)
I liked this story, my first by Julia McBryant. I found it to be super sexy and hot, hot, hot!
I enjoyed the characters and felt deeply for all of them. They have flaws and pasts that make a future a little more a challenge but doable.
Breaking Point: Henry, Jax, and Easter is an amazing, gut wrenching, story about 3 lovers, and how they got there, that you will not want to put down.
Julia McBryant has a unique writing style in this book where you feel like you are reading Henry’s, Jax’s, and Easter’s life story. She makes you fall in love with each character over and over again while reading about their life in Savannah, Georgia, in a society where having two lovers will not fly.
No review can ever do this book justice. McBryant’s characters aren’t just some fluffy characters. She has grasped who they really are deep down and brings them to life. She makes you actually know Henry, Jax, and Easter. You feel for each one. You feel their pain. You relate to what they are going through now, and what made them who they are. Why they are the way they are.
And she still manages to get you all hot with the sex scenes.
While you expect the ending will be happy, you just don’t know how it will get there. Get ready for a ride of love, angst, fun, hurt, and everything in between. An amazing read that will leave you wanting more.
This was my first book by Julia McBryant. It is part of a series but it definitely read fine as a stand alone. When I first started this book, I didn’t think I was going to like it. I did not like these characters at first, but I came to love each of them and all of them together. The fact that all 3 of them are willing to give up some things that are dear to them in order to be together is so brave and inspiring! This book actually gives me a lot of hope. It’s a hope that someday soon people can actually love who they love and live how they want to live without fear.
I truly enjoyed this book. This is the second chance for Henry to find true love – but will it be with Jax or Easter…or both? Julia McBryant writes in such a way that the reader can actually feel like they are in the heads of her characters. Highly entertaining, highly volatile (at times) and extremely emotional. If you are looking for honest connections and loads and loads of time between the sheets – this is the book you need to read.
This was my first book by Julia McBryant, but it definitely will not be my last!! I started this book and couldn’t put it down until I finished it! I loved Easter and Henry and I wasn’t sure where Jax would fit, but the three were perfect together! I loved it! I laughed, I cried, I hated them all and I loved them all! My heart was broken, for them all, and then put back together. I swear I could read about these three for the rest of my life and never tire of them!
