USA TODAY bestselling author Ella Frank continues the story of Alexander Thorne and Sean Bailey in Breaking News.XanderSean Bailey, the older brother of my lifelong best friend, has always been a surly, temperamental pain in my ass. But sometime during the last few weeks, I’ve gone and fallen head over heels for him. Gruff and charming, charismatic in his own way, I’ve found myself looking past … own way, I’ve found myself looking past my preconceptions and discovered a whole new side to Detective Dick—a side I could fall in love with.
But life isn’t always easy—it can change course in the blink of an eye. Sometimes for the good and sometimes for the bad. I know this because last night I experienced both sides.
I went to Sean for help in guarding my body; what I didn’t expect was for him to steal my heart.
Breaking News is not a standalone and should only be read after book one, Inside Affair. Headlines, the third and final book in the Prime Time Series, will be available 9.28.20.

I absolutely adore Xander and Sean together. Such an unlikely pair but man…these two just work together. I love how both are always checking in with one another. Those little sanity checks. They’re so emotionally invested and that sucks my little ol’ soul right in and gives me all the feels. But what happens when their relationship goes public? Is Sean ready to take that step? Xander? I’m dying for the next book!
This is the second book in the Prime Time series, after the previous one left us with quite a cliffy… boy do I hate cliffies!!! Which sucks for me because we get another one with this book 😛
Anyhows… this one picks up right where book one ended…
Xander and Sean are falling deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole of love… but there is a bit of a dark cloud hovering above them because of Xander’s stalker situation and the aftermath of what happened in the first book.
No worries though… these guys are all kinds of cute together. I loved seeing them “healing” together, while their love for one another grew. I really have a weak spot for detective “Dick” 😛
Can’t wait to get my hands on the next book, even though I hate cliffies… I will gladly deal when it comes to Ella Frank 😉
4.25 Stars
Xander and Sean #2
PLEASE READ BOOK #1 BEFORE READING THIS SECOND BOOK & THIS REVIEW!!!! Book #1 ended in a cliffy!
Book #2 starts right where we left our darlings the last time. In a very exciting and cliffy situation.
But it’s all good – more or less.
Xander moves in with Sean for a bit until he’s back on his feet. #NurseXander
And they can finally find out what this is between them.
And what will their friends and family say?
LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN …
Great 2nd book!
I really enjoyed reading this! It was funny, sparky, sweet, adorable, sexy.
I still would’ve preferred to only get one book – I don’t like trilogies all that much – and I hate waiting. And other than a few sexy and adorable moments, there wasn’t much happening in this 2nd book. And there’s not even a real cliffy. One book instead of three would’ve been so much better.
BUT – I still really loved reading this 2nd book – can’t wait to see how their story will end in book #3!
This is book 2 in the Prime Time series, In this second installment we continue with the aftermath of the previous ending, Xander and Sean are trying to recovery after the attack in which Sean have to be rush to the hospital and this just shows how deep their feelings for each other are and this just brought them closer.
Xander takes time off of work to take care of Sean and they start to really know each other, Their chemistry between these two if off the charts and that leads to some smoking hot moments, I like that they took care of each other and are free to express their feeling, this story is more that just the physical attraction, they are also attracted to those parts that they don’t show to others special Sean who let Xander see his true self and how his past hurt him, part of they journey is so hard and emotional but also sweet, tender and so hot!
I love that they took a chance on each other to finding happiness. What would happen when they went out in public, what would Bailey thing about Xander and Sean together? Is this worth it?….. aghhh cliffhanger at the end but This book is really great, I can’t wait for the last book in this serie!
I received and ARC in exchange of an honest review.
I really enjoyed the whole series. Enough that I read all three books, one after the other, I love this writer anyway because she writes steamy characters who you want things to work out for.
Also there tends to be light kink which I thoroughly enjoyed.
The continuation of the series was flawless.
The characters opened up about their pasts and naturally grew closer. Having some blanks filled in about the dynamics of their history really enriched the series.
I loved their ‘shack’. Everyone should have one available to them.
Naturally we have some angst going into the next book. I’m sure Ella will tie up all the lose ends for us!
Breaking News is the 2nd book in Ella Franks Prime Time trilogy. After book one Inside Affair ended in a cliffhanger I knew I would have to dive right in with this one only to be left on yet another cliffhanger. I know authors do this to pull you in but damn now I must wait for the conclusion to Xander and Sean’s story!!
This book picks up literally where book one left off and it is like you are continuing a book rather than starting a new one. You really see how much Xander and Sean start to care for each other and while book one just gave you a taste this one really shows the full impact of their relationship and where it could be going.
Xander is still having PTSD from the events that led up to Sean’s stabbing and while he keeps saying he is fine Sean knows that is not true. As Sean is healing and Xander is heading back to work they are settling into being together and seeing what their relationship could be. When Xander has a bad first day back at the office Sean takes him on a vacation to take his mind off things and that is where their relationship really starts to grow.
Both Sean and Xander have never experienced this kind of feeling before and they know their love could end up being messy not only for them but for the people love. Can Xander and Sean find their way through the troubles that loom ahead??
Alexander Thorne and Sean Bailey have known each other their whole lives and having to watch out for each other on a side job Sean took to work for Alexander, they find a whole new world of emotions that they never thought possible. As they look at whats unraveling for themselves and trying not to hurt anyone in their discovery, they find a love that has taken their emotions to another level. I love their story and can never get enough of this author and the stories she brings to her readers. I am looking forward to the ending of Alexander and Sean!
Tense personal connections and potential physical danger for the main characters keep the reader on edge for most of the book.
An enjoyable, spicy romance with engaging characters.
Part two of this wonderful series deepens the relationship between Xander and Sean and brings some unexpected hurdles to their situation. Not a standalone – you must read book one first or you’ll be completely lost! Some infinitely sweet and tender moments and these two men certainly tear up the sheets.
Breaking News is Sean and Xander in the aftermath of the “incident”. Learning more about each other and dealing with the trauma is taking a lot out of Xander. Overwhelming guilt and new found feelings are making Anchorman crumble.
Good thing Detective Dick is around, I mean, Sean. While Detective Dick is still off duty, sweet, sexy, and romantic Sean is full present in Breaking News.
Follow these two like a desperate paparazzo and watch their relationship flourish. But beware, the doubts and nerves with make your stomach uneasy.
I can’t wait for Headlines!
Let me just start by saying, if you haven’t read Inside Affair stop reading this right now and go read that first! When you devour it like I know you will, come back here and continue what you were doing. Seriously, shoo, go . . . you really need to start with the awesomeness that’s Xander and Sean’s burgeoning relationship there first before you spoil it for yourself.
And speaking of spoilers, you’ll get none of those here. Just know that Breaking News picks up just where Inside Affair leaves you holding your breath.
I couldn’t flip the pages of Breaking News fast enough for my heart and my head to keep up with all that developed between these two incredible men. And I cannot wait to see how their relationship finally unfolds in Headlines and just what happens when all their friends and family realize how in love and how amazing their connection and happiness truly is.
Honestly I don’t know what to say about this book. I always think I’ve found my favorite couple and then another worms their way I to my heart. Zander and Sean is up there with Tate and Logan. My heart broke for Zander with everything he was going through. To keep reliving that horrible moment over and over again. Then Sean being the awesome guy he is knows how to make Zander face it and overcome. Their story is a slow burn that has tarted to pick up and I can’t wait for Headlines. I most definitely recommend this book to everyone. I will be honest, then ending did tug on my heart strings. I need them to have their HEA because they deserve it!!
Loved Xander and Sean! This book picks up right where book 1 left off. Thank goodness! The two guys are really put through the ringer and there for each other in this book! Loved seeing them be there for each other and their relationship grow! When they finally admit their feelings for each other…super swoon! Highly recommend and I can’t wait for book 3!!!
I have to say that Sean and Xander are quickly becoming two of my favourite Ella Frank characters. They are both dealing with the aftermath of book one and discovering who they are as a couple. As a whole I am not a fan of cliffhanger endings, I’m too impatient , but I will be waiting with bated breath for the conclusion of this trilogy.
This was not the sequel to Inside Affair that I expected. Breaking News‘ disparity to its prequel was in fact rather striking.
It all started out alright with the aftermath of the dramatic events that concluded Inside Affair (which was a horrible cliff-hanger, just FYI). It was just enough of angst and worry, combined with the fact that Xander and Sean, who just started getting serious, still weren’t out as a couple to their family and friends.
The way Xander cared for Sean was cute and I thought it was a nice segue into them getting closer in a less strained way than during their forced proximity in the first installment. But apart from that, nothing much was happening. There was no story line.
Ella Frank is without a doubt a skilled writer, but storytelling-wise, her books are starting to resemble serials rather than series. And that’s such a shame. I get that a series with short installments will earn her a bigger check in the end, but it’s bloody insulting to her readers who are counting on full-length novels with actual plots and events forming a cohesive story.
The writing plodded along. I don’t think it’s correct calling it a story at this point. And Xander was having anxiety attacks because of the events in the first installment. The solution to that was apparently for Sean – who had recuperated enough now – to whisk him away for a sex-cation (or whatever you call a vacation with the one and only purpose of doing as much dicking-out as possible).
At this point I was bored out of my mind, still waiting for some kind of plot development. There was none.
Finally, in the last chapter, there was a bit of a commotion that I guess was meant to pique your interest for the sequel. But it involved a character who’s introduction had been rather superficial and generic, and I wasn’t particularly interested in what would come next. In other words, Breaking News ended in an unremarkable *meh*.
So no, I’m not impressed by this read. I won’t read the third and final installment and I probably won’t read anything more written by Frank either.

Okay, listen, this is a trilogy, so it’s more about the journey itself than the HEA because that’s pretty much established in the first book. Not all trilogies are that way. This one happens to be like that. I’m a huge fan of keeping me on my toes when the books/stories are more than one book. This installment told a story, yes, but nothing really happened to write home about, if you feel me. That was a bit disappointing for me. It may not be for you. Who knows. (yes, it will start with a bang because the first book ended with a bang and spoiler alert …. This one does also LOL I mean it’s a trilogy, you kinda expect that.
The story and Xander & Sean, this have tons of spark and chemistry. It is well written and unfolds creatively. I really love this story as a whole but I really think it should have been a duet. But it’s not my book or story to tell so … is it September yet? LOL
Love this series
Ella Frank is a definite one-click for me! I am in LOVE with Logan and Tate, head over heels for Priest, Robby, and Julien, and obsessed with the boys of the Fallen Angel series she co-wrote with the fabulous Brooke Blaine. Hands down, Sean and Zander are quickly making their way up the ranks to join these elite characters! The natural progression and character growth in the Prime Time series is something wonderful that pulls you in from the first page and keeps you in it’s grip until the last word. I am left wanting MORE! I seriously cannot wait for the next book, to see how poor Bailey recovers from his shocking discovery and these guys continue to build a relationship that’s unlike anything they’ve ever known.
Breaking News picks up right were Inside Affair left off and we are taken on a journey that leads us to fall deeper and deeper in love with Sean and Xander. These two are the most unlikely of pairs, but somehow Ella Frank through her brilliant writing skills always finds a way to craft a story to make the least likely coupling the most beloved.
Breaking News is the story of Sean’s recovery from his injuries, Xander trying to cope with what happened to Sean, and the two of them developing a more enduring, loving and trusting relationship. I really do love these two, and Sean will surprise you more and more throughout this book.
Breaking News is a truly enjoyable read, but I will say that I wish this one was just a duet, and that this was the conclusion to Xander and Sean’s story. Call me greedy for wanting it all at once, but I just feel like it would have more an even more satisfying story, but then again, I’m not the author. Having said that, I cannot wait for the third installment of Sean and Xander’s story. I need closure!!! Yet another wonderful read by Ella Frank.
