The gripping, steamy follow up to the bestselling forbidden romance, Wanting Mr. Cane…KANDYI was left broken, my heart beating a little bit harder in order to survive. I’d tried picking up the pieces, but when it came to Cane, it was hard to let go.The way we touched was special and we promised to never forget one another. I had him right in the palm of my hand—thought everything was … everything was perfect—but in the blink of an eye, he was gone, leaving me with no choice but to pretend that what we had never existed.
CANE
She was off-limits to me, but I pushed the boundaries anyway. Now, I was stuck between a rock and a hard place, my career slowly but surely slipping out of my grasp, and ghosts from my past returning to make things much more complicated.
My love life had never meant so much to me until I met Kandy.
After being knocked down and left stranded, any sane man would have stayed far away, but I wasn’t sane—not by a long shot.
I knew reality was harsh, and the universe had all the odds stacked against us. Despite it all, nothing was going stop me from making her mine again.
And if someone tried, they were going to have to go over my dead body first.

Holy….
I’m all in with this series! Kandy and Cane’s intense connection and passion for each other kills me. I love everything about it. The new characters Shanora introduced were brilliant. Love Lora. Hated Brody with a passion from the moment he entered the scene. And don’t even get me started on that cliffhanger! So good!
Damn you Williams, why do you have this need to twist me into knots? Because that is what you did yet again with the second part of Kandy and Cane’s story.
Kandy’s life was starting to look like it was going back to a semblance of normalcy, now that she’s on her own at school. Cane is having to try to live his life after he lost his best friend and the once woman he can’t live with out. Even with the ever present bat shit crazy ex trying to interfere with his life, he knows that he’s not truly living without Kandy. But, can he risk having her in his life, when his past can come back to the present and scare her away?
Yet another work of art by the cruel Shanora Williams. And it was one that had me fanning myself at times. then there were times that I found myself growling loudly with frustration when the shit started hitting the proverbial fan. Now i just want to get my hands on the next book so that I can get more of these two characters.
First oh my gahh I want to thank the book gods that all three books are out now and I don’t have to wait . Because boy that cliffhanger just about killed me .
I have been freaking loving this series. I can’t remember the last time I have binge read a series. Goodness I can’t get enough. This book has consumed me. I have been staying up late and taking every spare minute just to read a few more chapters. Just love it!! Can you tell?? Lol
Candy Cane is soooo my fav couple right now!! I just don’t know how much more they can take. But I am here…rooting for them.
5 Awesome Shinning Stars from me. I am so freaking glad I found your books Shanora Williams!! Xoxo
This book! All I can say is damn!! I couldn’t predict what was happening next. I just HAD to read and read. I loved every minute too. So much drama, angst and sexiness. I laughed. Cried, wanted to scream!! Can it be September yet???
Intriguing and forbidden. Yummy!
4,5 stars
Like I expected, specially this being part of a trilogy (kind of, since I know there is a fourth book), this book was a little slower, as it should be. It was the needed dormance to settle things.
After so many things happening in the first book and some serious s— hitting the fan, this story showed the development of Cane and Kandi’s relationship.
But you know when you move in to a new home and there is boxes and furniture everywhere, all on the wrong place, and to get things right, you need to make even a bigger of a mess?
That was this book. Boxes everywhere and wrongly labeled, things you have no idea where to find, sets that didn’t match, but all of that need to be taken care of, one after another, so you can finally start seeing your home sweet home presenting itself.
There were so many misplaced things in their story, but little by little they started organizing their home. It was taking form, we could see things working and hopefully they would find a way to make everything right.
They matched so beautifully. Even sneaking around, they were freer around each other, they were truly becoming a pair, equal partners, sharing blooming love and scorching chemistry.
But little did they know that the moving truck wasn’t done with all the boxes and poured right on their laps more utensils than they bargained for (I know, I’m rambling).
They were fighting alone against all the odds, strongly and passionately. Unfazed.
But sometimes even love isn’t enough.
My mind is blown once again, Ms. Williams.
Breaking Mr. Cane started a bit slow for me and continued until Cane and Kandy were reunited. After that (50% through the book) the story picked up speed and was unputdownable. I had no idea this series would have so much suspense and action in it. I have fallen in love with Cane and Kandy. Their forbidden love is totally gutting me, and I have to read book three, Loving Mr. Cane asap to find out what happens to Kandy…and Cane!
Shanora did it again… The continuing story from Mr.Cane…it was beautifully written.. oh my heart cant survive with all the drama…
The Journey continues and more challenges had surfaced…This level of forbidden love had brought out so many emotions… The joy of loving.. a consumed love..the love that is hot..demanding..surrender.. hopeless.. hurt..Like Kandy said it just happened…
The drama was spot on…My heart was racing so much from saying oh No and OMG!!
Shanora… you know how to squeeze my heart…the story played with my mood..why you made them so complicated..yet I love it so much… okay I need for the next book 🙂

Forbidden, angsty, emotional and sinfully sexy… I absolutely LOVED this tension-filled taboo romance!
I’m going to post one review for the entire series (with no spoilers), instead of for each book individually, because I went from one book to the next without even taking a breath. I was utterly HOOKED on this smoldering hot and illicit romance between a young woman and her father’s best friend with a lengthy 17 year age-gap between them!
Ohhh, Mr. Cane… That man did crazy things to my head, my heart and to my lady bits.
Kandy has had a crush on Cane ever since she met him when she was a young girl. He has never seen her more than exactly what she was – his best friend’s daughter… until she’s not a little girl anymore and makes her feelings known, then he starts seeing her in a whole new light. It isn’t just infatuation, it’s not a little crush that will go away anytime soon… she’s been in love with him for years. He resists her as much as he can but she’s grown into a beautiful and charming woman, making it that much harder to fight against her sexual advances. And when he finally gives in and they fall into bed together, it’s a nuclear explosion of raw and unbridled passion so hot that your kindle will need freezer time.
I adored these two together! They had a deep connection with each other and an undeniable chemistry. There were so many obstacles in their way threatening to tear them apart – pissed off parents, a crazy ex-girlfriend, bullies, pasts that haunt them – and there were times when my heart felt like it was in my throat, eyes threatening to spill with tears because I didn’t think they could come back from some of the things thrown at them, but their bond is never weakened. Their love never wavers. They are truly unbreakable.
I’m so glad that I waited to read this series until all the books were released because I don’t think I would’ve been patient waiting for each book. It was a fantastic binge read that I inhaled like I’d been starving for days.
Since this is the first time I’ve read Shanora Williams, I can guarantee I’ll be reading her backlist of books and keeping an eye on all future releases from her. She has some superb storytelling skills that pull the reader into the story, intoxicating them with every emotion laced into her words, and bringing her characters to life.
My ratings for each book:
Wanting Mr. Cane (Cane, #1) – 5 Stars
Breaking Mr. Cane (Cane, #2) – 5 Stars
Loving Mr. Cane (Cane, #3) – 4 Stars
Being Mrs. Cane (Cane, #3.5) – 4 Stars
Series Rating: 4.5 Stars!
The saga continues right where we left off with Cane and Kandy and their illicit love. Kandy is off to school now and attempting to move on but it is much harder than either of them imagined. There is crazy Kelly blackmailing and stirring up the pot and Cane’s mom and sister back home now, with the threat of the release of his dad.
Kandy’s parents are still a hurt in her chest when she hides anything about Cane from them. But true love is just that and can’t be snuffed out. Oh, this book has so many feels and so much angst that it is unsustainable and we are again left hanging with our mouths open at the end and our fingers punching in the next book in the saga! This is a truly amazing series!
So much love! So much angst! The world is against Kandy and Quentin. My heart hurt for them! Kandy goes through so much and all because of her undying love for Quentin – her rock. I love these characters and how Shanora Williams so eloquently portrays their story! This is a must read series! Must start with Wanting Mr. Cane first.
Omg!! Why, oh why do I have to wait so long for the next book. You killed me Shanora. This cliffhanger is not nice.
But what is nice is this story, Kandi is 19 now more mature and still in love with Cane.
Cane is so in love Kandi the way he cares for her, she is everything to him.
They keep fighting for their love, thru every obstacle. But how much longer can they survive.
This story keeps getting better and better. Cane and Kandi are perfection together, their love is big but will it conquer all.
Can’t wait to see what comes next.
5 Stars read!!!
So… I didn’t like Breaking Mr. Cane as much as I did Wanting Mr. Cane, but envisioning David Beckham and Zendaya as Cane and Kandy did help to propel me through the drama filled story. Then the cliffhanger made me want to scream for more! While both characters repeatedly got on my nerves with their questionable decisions and actions, one thing was made very clear: Shanora Williams knows how to weave an entertaining tale full of angst, sexiness, and compelling characters. I’m very hopeful about book 3 and can’t wait to see what happens to this couple next! 3 out of 5 wine glasses.
So I am going to sum up books 2-3.5 in this review since I just read them back to back. It’s been awhile since I had finished book 1 but I knew I needed to finish the series after I was left reeling from the the first books ending.
I have always been a fan of Shanora Williams and love her style of writing. This series was a little different from what I normally read but I was intrigued after the first book. The storyline is unique and my curiosity had me glued but I dont think its William’s best work. You may read it and it will become your favorite series but it was lacking for me. The romance was lovely although at times a bit childish and repetitive. There was drama and sometimes it flowed easily with the dialogue and others it felt forced. Even though this may not be her best work, in my opinion, the storyline is still good. I look forward to what William’s releases in the future. Till then, buy the series and enjoy.
Whoa! And the drama continues, I swear I mean that in a good way.
I fell in love with book one right from the beginning. Cane and Kandy were just irresistible.
Breaking Mr. Cane was nothing that I thought it’d be. Every page was one shock wave after the other. If it wasn’t for real life, I’d have finished this book in one sitting because it is one hell of a page turner. Very fast paced and it held my interested chapter after chapter. I cannot wait to dive into Loving Mr. Cane after the way this one ended, *in my Kevin Hart voice* SHIT IS ABOUT TO GO DOWN.
That Kelly bitch is cray-cray
When love hits you , it doesn’t care about age or color or even if it’ll hurt.
And it hits hard!! Kandy Jennings is infected with love, the same ailment is eating up Quentin Cane alive. They’re so far apart, yet just a memory away in their souls. The story is is flowing way past the tragic mark almost into ugly-cry territory. Shanora has dipped her pen in pain & tears, impregnated it with misery and angst. I felt sorry, oh so hurtfully sorry for them. Why couldn’t the world leave them alone!!
My life was unusual. I only prayed my abnormal life would make me resilient one day.
They’re just loving for God’s sake, not hurting anybody!!. Though I did understand Derek, I wanted to plead to his fatherly heart, have mercy you world!!
To say that I was teary eyed most of the time, is an understatement. I had in my prejudiced mind, assumed that Kandy was too young, what does she know about love, but as they say about people who assume……..
The book moved me so much, just spoke to my optimistic heart. I hope they get peace & happiness in their ever after and forever after. The utter pain that Kandy goes through, being judged and ridiculed, thrown out and alienated, it was heartbreaking
Only a slut would be okay with sneaking around with a man who was nearly twice her age. Only a slut would fuck her father’s best friend, ruin everything, and still choose him afterward.
One noteworthy thing here, shanora took a path less traveled and made Cane pretty strong. I mean he’s panty melting sexy and all, but he’s the calmness centers him, which in turn tethers Kandy and they don’t waste time in denial for long.
As shanora shows they have an uphill battle, actually more like Everest-mine trek!!
But we’re all in it together. We are right besides Kandy-cane, every step of the way, rooting for them and praying for them, and as long as they hold hands and eyes on each other, destinies should combine
when we’re together, it’s like nothing else matters. But when we’re apart, all of the demons start to pop up and reality is shoved into our faces and it’s harder to breathe— harder to think clearly.”
“Should” being the operative word because as depicted in the end, shanora has a sinister twist planned and WTF is going on here ?!!

4.5 “El Jefe” stars
Kandy and Quinlan’s forbidden romance continues!
Breaking Mr. Cane starts right where book 1 ends, so make sure you read Wanting Mr. Cane first.
More tabboo goodness, more drama, more everything!
The author has masterful drawn the reader into a journey that has you on the edge of your seat!
The result is a fantastically written, intense story that’s has you flying through the pages to discover what the end result is!
Oh… my…goodness!! Never saw that ending!
This was an awesome follow up to the first book. I liked that the characters spent time apart but the author showed that love will always find a way. I loved meeting a few new characters and their impact of the story. The way this book went my heart is breaking so much for all involved. The ending…. gah. It’s too much. I can’t wait to dive into the 3rd book. These books really draw you in with the taboo aspect and then the author throws twists and turns and new challenges.
One thing I really hate was that the best friend from the first book, best friends since they were like 5 completely disappeared in this book. I mean there was mentions of her and we saw her once but I’m disappointed that a character that was so important to the heroine in book one wasn’t in this one to help her when she needed a friend most. It didn’t seem realistic to me. Not with the bond they shared.
Overall it was a really good book and I can’t wait to see what is going to happen and how they will get to their HEA. They deserve it after everything they have been through. My mind is spinning winding what is going to happen and how it will affect the story. 4 stars #2OCCJD
And the 4.5 story of Cane and Kandy continues and it still has me on the edge of my seat. We are met with two people who are torn no doubt have strong feelings for each other; however, their situation is not one to be taken lightly.
Cane is at this breaking point. He is determined to get things in order with the ultimate goal of making Kandy his again. The walls of keeping his past life a secret is gradually coming down and is being has started to become a little bit more open to Kandy. The chemistry is so intense between the two of them that they have decided to make the decision to be together. Complicated is an understatement and knowing that it will not be easy.
We are met with new reveals and that ugly trick is still around! Let just say you shall never judge a book by its cover. Then we are left with that cliffy that were have you aching and utterly broken once again…
I love this series!!! Ok, I hate all she’s going thru because some that crazy jealousy of her team mate is just straight up crazy. I loved that Cane saved the day, and gave her a place to just be for a minute. I wanted so much for her parents to try and see it for what it was. Kelly is straight up psycho. And now we wait!
Holy shit, I thought the cliffhanger at the end of Wanting Mr. Cane killed me, it’s got nothing on the the end of Breaking Mr. Cane!!!
At the start of Breaking Mr. Cane our star-crossed lovers are apart, so very far apart; but still so in love and feeling the after affects of that love. Kandy is attending college and trying to move on. Quentin’s company is taking a tumble on the market, and things are completely unsettled. Have no fear, though, because they find their way back to each other and their love is cemented. And I was swooning and dying because these two, they’re fire, serious fire. They just might have as much a place in my heart as Theo and his Little Knight (Tainted Black) but shhhh don’t tell Theo and Chloe that! But then that crazy ass cliffhanger happened and now I’m definitely dying because I must, MUST KNOW what happens next, stat, like RIGHT NOW!!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Shanora Williams is hands down the Queen of the forbidden and taboo, and Breaking Mr. Cane just cements her status even more. Can’t wait for more of my darling Quentin and his Kandy Cane!
