The epic conclusion to Scarlett and Dante’s story.
Breaking Her
The Love is War Duet: Book Two
DESTRUCTION. BETRAYAL. RUINATION.
TRUE LOVE.
SCARLETT
He had done it again. Ravaged me. Burned me. Broken me.
Given me air, only to leave me gasping, writhing.
But then something changed. Something that terrified and excited me both.
Something that utterly destroyed me.
Something that made me whole … destroyed me.
Something that made me whole again.
DANTE
Our love was cursed from the start. She didn’t know it, but I did.
All she knew was that I’d lied to her, betrayed her. Done unforgivable things. Unavoidable things. Yes, I had broken promises as surely as I had broken her heart. But, just as every war has casualties, and every lie has consequences–every bastard has his reasons.

Oh my Gawd!! I’ve cried my eyes out and my heart is dessicated and dehydrated right now!!
I was at the point where I was yelling,”Oh come on Rebecca, give them a break”!!!
This story is like a ravaged town after a devastating firestorm has razed everything to the ground, smoldering embers line the sky, oppressive stench permeates the air and the characters’ souls are covered in soot.
That’s about as graphic the grief can get. Rebecca says, Hold on,let me push the envelope a bit more!
When I finished reading book 1- Breaking Him, I was certainly confounded at the lack of respect and remorse from Scarlett Theroux. I had painted her as a bitch and had trouble accepting her tempestuous personality.
“He’s the best I ever had. And the worst thing that ever happened to me.”
True love is a bitch.
NOW I KNOW WHY she turned out that way!!!
This woman has gone through hell, walked on live coal, barefeet!!
No wonder her skin and sensitivity has burned to crisp, till she can feel no more !!
I’m surprised she’s still standing tall, maybe because her stubborn pride is refusing to let her fold and die.
“Once you’ve been broken, every break after, even when they hurt like hell, can never outdo the profound damage of the first time.”
Every single person in her life has betrayed her. EVERY SINGLE ONE ! So she not only locks her heart tight, she covers makes the door with spikey, sharp nails, so nobody can attempt to come near. She also let her heart walk out of her body and go live with someone else to improve her chances of surviving respectfully(oh my heart!)
This was a trigger point for me….always has been!
Danté is a Saint !. At first I couldn’t understand why he’d been named so, cause he definitely is a not a Devil. His patience and utmost devotion belongs to a saintly personality. Now in book 2 have I really got it, he takes upon himself to burn in hell for Scarlett. Taking her blames, agonies, anger, hostility & hatred and wearing them like a cloak on his soul. He burns alive so she can walk untarnished and unblemished.
“The king of all of my regrets. The architect of every last drop of joy I’d ever tasted. My tormentor. My savior.”
His crazy, deep love is unshakeable and unmovable ever since he was 10!! I was almost jealous of Scarlett to be such an object of his devoted passion and affections.
I need to mention a thing I noted. Generally authors write a scene of ferocious intensity, they show the spiteful words being spoken, the doors slammed, the punches and venomous words and the scene ends.
“You learn more about someone when you’re fighting them than you do loving them. Things you can only learn from war.”
But when Rebecca writes a particularly heartbreaking scene or a frightfully vindictive scene, the words spoken have a dreadful effect on both Danté & Scarlett among other characters like Nate, Bastion, Gina, Glenda. The after effects or the impact of those words is so beautifully described, it just blew me away. How the characters took the blows….what was going in their mind….. how it cut them deep …..or poured a sprinkle of water on their conflagrant anger…….was such a joy to read. Here Rebecca outshines all her peers in projecting those emotions in words. It’s like a surgeon takes a scalpel and cuts open a heart to show the sores and boils that the cancer has caused. Mind blowing!!!!!!
This was about killing anything inside of me that was capable of that emotion. Stomping it to death under my vicious, spiteful heel, then grinding it unrecognizable with my sharpest stilettos.
I dunno if I’m making any sense!
It’s painfully gut wrenching story to say the least, some horrors are described in a subtle way cause she writes with lots of class and dignity. Nevertheless the readers feel the impact strongly to the gut. And the hits just keep onnnnnnn coming!!
I LOVED the story. I LOVED scarlett’s tenacious spirit but most of all Danté. He’s tragically perfect Alpha. The true beholder of the title of LOVER! he portrays true meaning of loving someone, protecting her and sacrificing for her without any accolades, acknowledgements and at the cost of his heart and soul. Nobody compares to his devotion
I think I’ve rambled enough. So go read the books, ist complete and available now. Don’t be like me -Late to the party!!

We continue with Scarlett and Dante’s story.
This series was by far one of the best series I’ve ever read!
We get so much lies, heartache and betrayal in this series. You were left off kind of like in a state of — what in the world — in the first book, but when you read Breaking Her you’ll understand all the if’s and why’s of everything that evolved throughout Scarlett’s and Dante’s love story.
I was consumed, I devoured this series in a matter of a weekend. I just couldn’t find myself to get away from this story.
Dante and Scarlett suffered the insufferable and my heart broke for them. So much was at stake so much was between them that you just wanted to jump into the book and knock some sense into some people in this book.
I’m just glad that in the end everything worked out for the them. All the lies were unraveled and even though the hurt and betrayal was already done, you can only forgive and if you can forgive then you know you were meant to be and your love is much stronger than you thought.
I wasn’t particularly pleased with Dante in the first book but he became my hero in this book. The things he did, the stuff he had to go through were just unfathomable. But that just proved how much his love for Scarlett was, it went over and beyond.
Dante has become one of my new favorite book boyfriends to date 🙂
