I’ve always followed my dreams with ruthless determination. My life was going well. Success was at my fingertips.Until it wasn’t.All it took was three seconds to send my world crashing down around me, ripping my dreams to shreds. Then I meet her, with her large hazel eyes that slay me at first glance. And everything starts to make sense again.I try to keep my distance. To remind myself I am her … distance.
To remind myself I am her mentor.
That we can’t be more,
but every time I push away, I’m pulled deeper into her.
The line between student and teacher is blurring.
One kiss.
One taste.
They’re all it would take to cross the line.

Breaking Gravity by Autumn Grey is book two of the Fall Back series and is focused on the love life & story of Elon Blake who we saw in Fall Back Skyward (Book One). And while this story may not be as emotionally challenging and angsty as the first book, that in no way diminishes the effect and emotional scarring this book will have on you. A forbidden relationship right from the beginning. Two lost souls healing from eternally lasting scars left by people they loved, two damaged souls just searching for a way to fly again. With a seven year age gap and the taboo of a student teacher relationship, the sexual tension between these two is palpable. Autumn Grey has a way of writing heroes that are way too damaged, yet these alpha males won’t let it deter them from loving their women. From healing them and picking them up when they fall.
Nathaniel Rowe fights his attraction for shy little Elon Blake as long as he can, but some things are just too powerful to ignore. He thinks she will submit to his dominance, that she’s a shy little thing. But little does he know, his little Wolf has claws & a fire burning hot inside of her, she’ll release it when she wants. There are so many factors that become obstacles in their relationship and how will they overcome this? When things get too much, will they burn brighter together or just fizz out and die? I do know that their relationship defies all the laws of gravity. They are fighting the impossible and coming out on top. And when they are truly at one with each other, only then are they breaking gravity.
Be prepared. This book will definitely make you cry. It will pull on your heartstrings and play you like the strings of a cello. And while it is angsty, it is twice as hot. The chemistry between this two is explosive. Autumn unleashes Nate’s inner beast and goes all #BeastMode on his little Wolf. And you won’t hear any complaining from me. I had to take a second to fan myself. And the cameo’s in this book! So much testosterone and alpha males in one book it drove me literally insane!
Well done, Autumn. You have outdone yourself. You continue to write heroes that find their way into hearts despite their asshole ways and heroines that make me want to punch my fist in the air and scream “GIRL POWER”. Breaking Gravity will ruin you. It’ll destroy you and you’ll love every second of it. You’ll definitely wanna read this one.
Get ready ladies. Class is now in session.
Breaking Gravity is a student/teacher romance but not your typical one. After reading Fall Back Skyward I was in love with so many of the secondary characters, so I was pleased to learn that this book focused around Nor’s younger sister Elon.
Elon is a reserved girl who gets lost in her love of music, a cellist who aspires to be as proficient as her inspiration Nathaniel Rowe. When she discovers that her new music Professor is the man himself Nate their chemistry smoulders until it ignites, into a scorching forbidden love affair.
Nate a man who has been through a devastating loss in his personal life and his career now finds himself teaching at the university that trained him. When he finds himself attracted to a student who is also his class assistant, Nate struggles to control his Alpha side that has to claim her.
Breaking Gravity has more of a sexual undertone to it than Book 1, that said the novel is so much more than Elon and Nate’s physical relationship. It’s the challenge of the psychological damage they have both suffered as well as navigating their feelings and the sacrifices this may mean to both of their careers. I loved that we got to see the characters we know and love in Elise, Cole, Nor and especially Nick. My heart breaks for Nick in this book, he has always been a boy now a man that loves with everything he has but he has spent his whole life loving the wrong girl. I really hope Autumn is going to give him the story he deserves.
I loved this book almost as much as Fall Back Skyward but in a different way. Breaking Gravity didn’t have the emotional weight that Book 1 had; however it built it’s character connections in different ways. Autumn Grey is absolutely a writer I need to read more from if this duet is an example of the standard of work all her books maintain.
This is the first book I’ve read from this author and it definitely won’t be my last! It was amazing, I loved everything about it and fell in love with Nate and Elon and the secondary characters were just as good. An emotional story about forbidden love – a Professor and his student – excellently written and every time I had to put it down I wanted to pick it back up and carry on reading it! 5* for sure!!!
I love this author so I was grateful to get this ARC. I love the depth to the characters. The taboo of their relationship. Their angsty feelings that make you forget to breath as you wait for the next sentence. Written in time with Nor’s books so you get sucked back into her story a little too. Who doesn’t want their man to think they are beautiful and worthy of love so deep? This book was so good!
The synopsis of this story reeled & hooked me in. Breaking Gravity is an epic love story about a teacher/student novel that begins with a slow burn, building intensity with passion, & two broken, battered souls that is highly captivating & left me spellbinding. Elon’s character is sassy, saucy, sexy, & she has a wicked sense of humour. Nathaniel Rowe’s character is compelling, complex, off the charts sizzling hot, sexy & domineering alpha male. The secondary characters are fantastic & add to the story. This author has become one of my favourites after reading & falling in love with her character’s in “Fall Back Skyward” as her characters come alive and each and everyone of them steals a piece of your heart. Even though this is part of a series it can be read as a complete standalone but I highly recommend that you read “Fall Back Skyward” first. A remarkable epic tale with beautifully broken character’s, blurred lines, boundaries are crossed, passion, chemistry & souls intertwine. A must read epic novel & series that will leave you breathless.
A forbidden student teacher romance that you definitely don’t want to miss out on. I really enjoyed reading it and for me it’s definitely a 5 star read.
Elon has always had to be strong growing up and when she is realising one of her dreams, she meets the new Professor at school. There is an instant attraction between her and Nate that seems to be undeniable for them to resist.
They are playing with fire and when someone from Elon’s past comes back into her life, things can make or break their relationship… But sometimes you just know that the best things in life are worth fighting for…
Another stunning chapter from Autumn Grey.. Breaking Gravity had touched me in the best possible way… Elon Blake is a strong young woman..she is sassy.. curious.. smart as hell.. her courage and spirit bring a strong relationship with the one she love..
Professor Nate is a whirlwind handsome guy.. I am totally inlove with his character..
This book showed so many layers of emotions.. i love the feeling of falling in love again after the storm…
This is a forbidden love… Nothing can stop you when you meet your soulmate… I love on how they care for each other.. their sparks made it alive..
I love love love this book!
My first read from the author and i fall in love.
Breaking Gravity just perfectly forbidden and yet sweet, heart warming and sexy in one big satisfying bowl of love! Sound chessy? I don’t even care
I love every second of this book. I laugh, i fall in love, so many awwww from my part for Nate and Elon, and i laugh some more, cried a bit, swoon, lusting and …in the end i just fall in love on how the author tell her story. Beutifully written, she brings you the power of love.
Did i mention how i love this book? I said it again. I love Breaking Gravity! Definitly must read!
“She takes my breath away without even trying.”
Ever since I finished reading Fall Back Skyward, I was looking forward to the side-characters getting their own book. One of them was Elon, Nor’s younger sister. There were some hints to her rocky relationship with her new professor, who she named Mr. Scowl-A-Lot. I am going to be honest and say I was a bit hesitant when I read this was a student/teacher romance, because I always either end up loving it or hating it. However because I read and really loved Fall Back Skyward, and I trusted Autumn to deliver a real story with intriguing characters, I picked this book up. She did not disappoint!
“Elon is my ray of sunshine, punching holes through my armor with gentle blows I hardly saw coming until now.”
Both Nate and Elon went through a traumatic past and have issues because of it. I loved how they healed and made each other believe in love again. They treated each other with respect and never hurt one another. I loved how mature they both were and that there wasn’t any unnecessary drama like you see in a lot of student/teacher romances. The author really took her time telling Elon and Nate’s story. She did not rush through the story and she gave me all the time I needed to fully connect to the characters. Also even though there was a 9 year age difference between them, Elon acted very mature. She acted more mature than her age and the attraction and connection between Elon and Nate felt real. The secondary characters such as Nate’s best friend/Brother-in-law Bennett and sister Izzy, played an important role and elevated the story. I really loved the brother/sister dynamic between Izzy and Nate.
I really love Autumn’s writing style and it sometimes felt very poetic which made me love it even more. I really enjoyed this book and all the characters. It wasn’t just ONE story but both Elon and Nate had other issues they were dealing with outside their relationship. I was especially sad about what happened with Elon’s best friend Nick but it was handled perfectly at the end. The book world needs more authors like Autumn Grey because she creates such intriguing and beautiful characters and stories. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
“Little Wolf” has just become my new favourite term of endearment…. who would of ever thought that being called Little Wolf could be so sexy and romantic?!
There are very few books that I anticipate the release of, like I did for “Breaking Gravity”. After falling in love with Autumn Grey’s writing, reading “Fall Back Skyward” I had been tapping my feet impatiently waiting for this release. I begged her to write faster!
To write the next instalment of this series, I’m sure was no easy feat. To write characters that readers would love as much as Cole and Nor, I’m sure was terrifying. However, lucky for Autumn Grey, her loyal readers had full trust that whatever was going to be in “Breaking Gravity” was going to be phenomenal. And phenomenal it was. It was a 5 star read from the first few pages. Just like the first book in this series, she has your heart locked in within 2 or 3 pages.
I have been lucky enough to read tiny little teasers, from Autumn, over the last couple of months. Yet none of them compared or prepared me for reading this soul imprinting story.
Elon Blake is one of the most amazing female characters I have ever read. She is brilliant. She is kind. She is loving. She is hilarious. She is sassy. And what makes it even better, is that she doesn’t even realise half the things that she is.
Nathaniel Rowe is a possessive, alpha male who doesn’t even realise he is possessive…. well not to begin with anyway…. and gosh how I love a man who says “Mine”.
Autumn has the most incredible gift in being able to write a story of fate and destiny. I’m a believer in these things anyway, and then that belief was cemented in reading “Fall Back Skyward”. And she has done it again in “Breaking Gravity”. You can’t help but believe in fate and destiny when reading these books…. Autumn leaves you no choice – its right there in front of your face.
My insides did little flips in sections of this story. My heart-strings clutched in sections of this story.
I laughed in sections of this story.
I teared up in sections of this story.
My tummy was covered in butterflies in sections of this story.
This story…… it gave me all the feels and then times it by a thousand.
I can’t believe it to be true…. but I think Nate and Elon may have superseded Cole and Nor as my new Autumn Grey favourite couple.
I forbid Autumn from ever writing any other series that doesn’t involve the characters from “Fall Back”. If I never read another series in my life, but continue to follow the lives and loves of the Blake sisters and their friends/family – I’d be content.
Autumn Grey – you are genius. You are a new love to my heart. Thank you for giving the world Nate and Elon…..and for giving us “Little Wolf”.
* I voluntarily read an Advanced Readers Copy of this book for Reading Tigress *
In Breaking Gravity we meet Elon and Nate. Elon is a college student and she meets Nate when he walks into their class. Nate is Elon’s professor but he also has a past in the music world. Elon couldn’t believe that he was liking walking into their classroom. Elon and Nate’s first meeting doesn’t go over so well when she falls asleep in his class. Nate is immediately drawn to Elon but neither want to act on it because it is forbidden. When danger presents itself Nate will do anything to protect his little wolf.
Breaking Gravity is book two in this series. Breaking Gravity is everything that I wanted in a book it had the forbidden romance and suspense that I was looking for. I loved everything about Elon and Nate characters and relationship. Nate is still dealing with things from his past and Elon is also still dealing with things from her past. They both know that their love is forbidden but is determined to do anything to save it. I was drawn into this book from the very beginning. I can’t wait to see what happens next with this series!!!
First I want to make one thing clear. I’m claiming Nathaniel Rowe. Yes, I’m going to fight Elon for him but I don’t care. He’s mine and became that from his first appearance in the prologue and in his classroom towering over a sleeping Elon.
Nate’s presence oozes male and assertiveness. In his class he’s in his element and doing what he knows best. Dedicated to his craft. Teaching about music. Out of the classroom he’s so much more. He’s a loving uncle to his niece and nephew, a rock of an older brother to Izzy whom he loves with all his heart. Supportive of his best friend Bennett who’s married to Izzy.
Elon is so much more than a quiet mouse. She’s an observer and only speaks when she’s has something to say and believe me she has plenty to say when it matters. Her relationship with her two sisters Nor, Elise and her nieces are her everything. She loves playing her cello and reading her books.
Nate and Elon are two flawed people who have a lot in common but the most obvious is that they’re fighters. They fight for the people they love and as the story progresses they start to fight for themselves too and what they want and need in life.
They’ve both experienced loss and trauma which has caused them both to feel guilt, loose faith in love, themselves and also what they think they deserve or are worthy of from life. When they cross paths as teacher and student in Nate’s classroom suddenly everything changes and yet everything becomes totally clear to both of them. Their attraction is undeniable and instantly. I felt it!! Their chemistry and want for each other jumped off the pages. I literally got chills and goosebumps at times. I loved how they both flirted and couldn’t help themselves when they were around one another. I especially loved Elon’s brazenness. She showed another side. A sexier one. She took charge. Nate was in another league. He’s a beast when it comes to his woman. He cares, wants and loves his little but strong wolf. I love how their relationship slowly evolves into more. It’s a slow burn but a sizzling hot one.
Breaking Gravity is so much more than a teacher/student story. It’s about two people who’s not looking for love but finds it in the most unexpected and inconvenient place. They’re both haunted by theirs pasts and their choices which has led them to believe that they’re no such thing as a happy ever after or a second chance. It’s about growth and redemption. But most of all it’s about love and how far you will go for it. No matter the consequences.
Autumn Grey has created an intoxicating story about forbidden love with so many layers. The story is well developed and every character have their place and importance to the story. I love Nate’s sister Izzy and her husband Bennett. They’re so much fun.
Autumn Grey delivers in spades when it comes to romance and angst. Her prose has never been better. Flawless and filled with so much depth and love for this story. Breaking Gravity is definitely a must read.
BREAKING GRAVITY is Book 2 in the Fall Back Series, and is the first book I have read by Autumn Grey. This can be read as a Standalone, and that is what I did. However, the characters from Book 1 FALL BACK SKYWARD are in BREAKING GRAVITY, so now I am going to read Book 1. If you haven’t read either yet, then I suggest strongly you read FALL BACK SKYWARD first.
Professor Nathaniel Rowe was taking over Music Theory class for a retiring Professor Harris. His first day started by him waking up one of his female students that was sleeping with her head on the desk snoring. He was trying to control his temper as he strides toward the woman. He is having a bad day, a bad last three years, and his life is not good period. His entire focus is suddenly on one Elon Blake as she yawns widely, before wielding a pair of stunning, big hazel eyes full of sleep in his direction. Those eyes slay him, rocking him to the core, and he knows he is in a ton of trouble.
Elon is not only his student but his assistant, and now crushing on her new professor. Nathaniel Rowe. God’s gift to the music world. Best freaking cellist ever and a member of the Chicago Symphony, that is until he retired three years ago. His eyes were full of darkness, the kind where monsters live, greedily waiting to devour you when you let your guard down. She’d know it anywhere. It had been her constant companion for as long as she could remember.
A forbidden attraction. A life-altering first kiss. Waiting for that kiss an entire lifetime. Elon is a ray of sunshine, punching holes through his armor with gentle blows. “I’ll never hurt you, Elon. Trust me.” A heart wants what it wants. When I’m with you, nothing else matters. Giving me his pain and taking mine. Heart over mind. Nothing can touch me or pull me down. Not even gravity. Breaking gravity!!
This was my first read from this author and it definitely won’t be my last.
Heartfelt, angst filled story of forbidden love. It’s a beautiful read. Professor Rowe has jumped into my BBF Hall of Fame. The perfect off limits, dirty talking older Professor meets his match with Elon – the quirky, gorgeous, strong and slightly damaged student. Fantastic slowburn love story with the perfect amount of heat. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great teacher/student romance.
Breaking Gravity (Fall Back Series #2) by Autumn Grey is an emotional, contemporary, new adult, forbidden romance told in dual POV. Although it can be read as a standalone, I’d recommend reading Fall Back Skyward first because it lays a foundation of background and insight into Elon as a character.
Elon is a college music student and promising cellist. When her professor retires early due to health issues, she finds herself learning from and working for Nathaniel Rowe, a famous cellist whose career she’s followed and whom she’s had a crush on for years.
From the moment they meet, Elon and Nate have undeniable and explosive chemistry. Working so closely with each other, it’s only a matter of time before they give in to temptation. Nate and Elon both have troubled pasts, but in each other, they are able to find peace and healing.
But secrets have a way of coming out and a professor dating a student is quite the scandal with the potential to ruin reputations and have life-altering repercussion. Will Nate end up losing his job? Will Elon ruin her potential future as a symphony cellist? Will their relationship survive the fallout? You’ll need to read the book to find out.
I loved Nate and Elon’s story. They were both relatable and likeable characters. I especially enjoyed their witty back and forth banter. This story drew me in from the start and I couldn’t put it down. It was beautifully compelling, tender, tragic, passionate, and heartfelt. Absolutely stunning!
I absolutely loved this story! Such a beautiful and breathtaking story of Elon & Nate: two broken souls, who on all accounts should never have been together, yet were absolutely perfect for one another. They had such a fiery and passionate connection, that wouldn’t be able to be denied, no matter how hard they tried to fight it.
Let me start off by saying that this book is my second teacher/student romance and so I was looking forward to how the author would approach such a topic, with this being said it was nothing like i expected but in a GOOD way.
Breaking Gravity follows Nathaniel Rowe who is traumatised and crippled by guilt that he couldn’t do more follwing an accident that took the life of the woman he loved Camille. Now he’s a shell of a man he used to be, unable to play the cello again, months of therapy and in constant pain. He tries to regain some sense of normalcy by accepting a teaching position in Florida at the Rushmore School of Music where he comes face to face with Elon Blake, his student who changes everything. Elon was a sweet and strong heroine. Having lived an abusive childhood and relationship, her trust in men is limited so when Nate enters the picture she has a hard time keeping her feelings for him under wraps.
Elon Blake has had a secret crush on Nathaniel Rowe (9 years her senior) for as far back as she can remember, from following his career with the Chicago Symphony up to his retirement three years ago from an injury, has had her striving to be as good as him; so imagine her surprise when she comes face to face with him and realises that he is going to be her teacher!
From the very start of this book the chemisty between Nate and Elon is off the charts and so when you add on the forbidden aspect I couldn’t help but feel captivated with these two characters. They help eachother get over their personal issues by engaging in relationship although forbidden which offers them much more than just physical release but an emotional one as well. I LOVED the fact that they were able to heal each other in the most sweet and breathtaking way. They were no longer defined by their personal demons but by the love they had for eachother.
I would definitely recommend this book if you are a believer in second chances and going after what you want regardless of what obstacles might stand it your way. This book is a true romance in my opinion.
Breaking Gravity , a forbidden love story .
Nathaniel Rowe has loved , loss and lived with emotional guilt and physical pain since the fateful day that the love of his life was lost. Unable to save the women he loved so many years ago has taken it’s toll on him mentally and physically. Nathaniel once had an aspiring career as a talented cellist but the accident also took that away from him.
Elon is a sweet, beautiful , talented woman that is dedicated to her studies and her music. She is not looking for love but the moment she locks eyes with her new professor the last thing that she ever expects is that he will pursue her. She knows of his talent and the tragedy that has affected him and brought him to be in front of her today. The more she gets to know him the more she realizes that he has so many layers to reveal .
A beautifully written tale of unexpected and forbidden love.
~~Michele McMullen ~~
Elon has had a rough upbringing and vowed to never be like her mother. For the most part she has accomplished that until Rick came into her life and turned it upside down. After her encounter with Rick she keeps her circle small and stays to herself. Living in her little bubble was going great until Professor Nate showed up. I really liked Elon because at first I thought she was going to be shy and quiet but she was funny and sassy. She knew how to push Nate’s buttons and rile him up. Yet she also knew when to turn it off and be what he needed. Her character was a breath of fresh air and I found her likeable and relatable.
Nate. Where do I begin with him? My heart broke for him for the pain and guilt he was going through. Nate is barely surviving and is putting on a good facade and trying to make it seem like “he’s fine”. All of that comes to a halt when he becomes Elon’s Professor. He knows this is wrong but he can’t help the way he feels. Will he take that risk? Will he play it safe and do the right thing?
This was a Student/Teacher taboo book done right! The sexual tension between Elon and Nate was off the charts hot!!! With that being said it wasn’t just about sex with these two. They are both suffering in their own ways and can finally breathe and let their guard down with each other. They each wanted to become the person they knew they could be once they found each other. I loved the way they progressed individually and as a couple. Their banter was everything for me in this book. Elon always kept Nate on his toes and he didn’t know what to expect from her and it was very amusing at times. Her nickname for him had me cracking up several times in this story. I loved how protective Nates was of Elon.He showed her how a real man is supposed to be and what it is to be truly loved and protected. Elon also showed Nate is was ok to be happy again.
“Fear cripples us, makes us weak. If you allow it to take over your life, it can easily incapacitate you. But if you stare at it in the eye, chances are you’ve already defeated that feeling. It’s only through fear that we discover how strong we are. “
“If there is one thing life has taught me, it is that at times we experience pain and loss, we feel hopeless, faithless. But hidden beneath all the negatives, there’s laughter and love and hope if you are patient enough.”
This was my first time reading anything by this author and her words and storytelling sucked me right in from the very beginning. This was a story that I couldn’t stop reading and devoured in a few hours. Even though it’s billed as a taboo story it touches on so many topics. In this book you will experience highs and lows, ups and downs. This is what life’s all about. Bad things happen to good people all the time but it’s how we deal with the situation that defines us. This book is also about finding your strength, courage to face tough situations and seeking closure to move on. Things won’t always work out in your favor but you have to have strength to carry on. This book is one that will stay with me for a long time. I love a book that you can relate to and leaves you reeling with emotions. If I could give this book 10 stars I would. Well done Autumn Grey.
Another amazing read from Autumn Grey! I absolutely adored this story. From the first page to the last I did not want to stop reading it at all! A definite page turner!
There was a gorgeous balance of angst and humor with suspense mixed in, and the perfect amount of steam. I loved how strong both characters are, and I loved how much growth we see throughout the story.
Autumn also hits on topics that we tend to look over or turn a blind eye to in today’s world. And she does it perfectly.
I definitely recommend this wonderful book!!!
