I enjoyed this book from start to finish. I loved the fact that you would of never guessed that they would of gotten together after everything that she had gone through without her parents and raising her baby brother. I received a free arc copy of the book and I am leaving a voluntary honest review.
Very disappointing. Liked the idea and storyline and at the beginning the reader gets background on Melissa and her brother. But when she and Tom finally get together, there’s no mention of her being a virgin or it being her 1st time. The story just jumps then to them getting married a month later. What happened to their farm? Why were they not married there? Or make it their home for their business? What became of her brother? Did he stay with them? Too many loose ends and questions unanswered.
Melissa and her brother Kyle Jones are not able to continue living on the farm they grew up on after their parents were killed in a car accident the neighbor Lorna helped to take care of them and after college Melissa has gotten a job at the Chiltern Hotel as a waitress in the big city they have an apartment and Kyle will be starting school soon. Melissa meets Paula when she arrives for her first day she meets everyone the weeks pass and she finds herself having a problem with her supervisor she finds herself on the receiving end of his snarky complaints about work or on this day she was a little late and he went off in front of everyone and she is very upset but the Sous Chef comes through the one that is so handsome and he looks at her and speaks to her supervisor. His name is Tom and he finds himself interested and protective of this sweet young woman. After that things get better on the job and one day she was leaving work and ask if she wanted a ride she agreed hesitantly. Interesting storyline Instalove the characters were fun. Book 1 of series. I own this book. I am providing an honest review.
This is such a sweet romance story. When Tom and Melissa got a glimpse of each other, they are attracted to each other but they took their time to start on this romantic journey. Tom is definitely a protector and cherishes Melissa, and some of his gestures/actions will make any woman swoon.

Being a teenager is hard enough, but when life throws the worst possible thing at her, Melissa must struggle to care for her brother and herself. When they can’t afford the farm that they live on five years later, Melissa decides to move to the city to get a job. She has to make sure that she doesn’t lose her job and take care of her brother. She doesn’t have time for dates or men, but there was something different about him…
A true “feel good” story. From the depths of heartbreak, to the life of true love, this short, but warm story will have your heart breaking, only to find the way to mend it back up again. Melissa has had her fair share of heartbreak, but a chance meeting to the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on, just may be the turning point, giving her broken heart all the mending it could possibly require.
I loved this book. Short and sweet, a delectable love story.
I was gifted a copy of this book and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion.
After losing her parents in an accident, Melissa takes care of her little brother and to have their necessities covered, she starts to work at the Chiltern Hotel.
Tom is the sous chef at the hotel and since the first time he lays eyes on Melissa, he can’t think of anything else.
I liked how Tom takes care of Melissa even when they are not together yet. And I also liked how Melissa cares about her little brother without complaining. Three stars and a half.
Melissa finds herself in the role of caretaker for her younger brother after the death of her parents. Moving to the city to start again was challenging. She meets Tom upon arriving at her new job and a friendship develops leading to something more. But with all the drama surrounding them can they take it to the next level for something more meaningful? I loved this story and you can’t help but emphasize with Melissa. She is a strong determined young lady. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.

This is the first book in the Chiltern Hotel Series and starts the series off with a bang. Well written with strong, well-defined characters who are likable and interesting. This is Tom and Melissa’s story. Her life changed when her parents died and she became the caregiver for her brother. She’s only nineteen and he is eight. Steamy and emotional, this story is hard to put down once you begin. I read an arc copy and voluntarily chose to review.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Wow so worth reading. Once I started I could not put the book down from start to finish you just could not get enough left you wanting more Melissa and Tom. It was hot and steamy with emotions that makes you want more. The chemistry between them was intense.

The idea for the plot was great, but this story is in need of some tough love editing. There are too many places where needless information is repeated in several sentences in a row but with different wording, as well as places where the same words are used over and over again, plus things like Melissa would obviously not have to tell her 8 year old brother that ”Lorna Petterson ( a long term family friend) from next door” was here to see them. Essentially this book was mainly drudge and boring details…. Also the relationship between Melissa, Kyle, & Lorna felt sterile, even though Lorna supposedly took over the mother role and dedicated her life to them. Not once did they ever call her or act like they were even thankful for her help and love. And I admit that I mainly (ok, only) downloaded it because of the promising description that ”This is a Steamy, Sweet, Short Romance Story… No Cliffhangers! If you love short and sweet romances with insta love, hot steamy sexy scenes, and happily ever afters, you will definitely enjoy this one.” Ha! 85% of the book was over before even the 1st kiss came along, then nothing for several more pages until a shower scene that owed the majority of its steam to the hot water usage. Then it was over!
Seriously, this is the only ”steam” in the entire book:
”Surprised at her reaction, he joined her, and the two of them stood together under the shower enjoying the warm water. The scene was right out of the movies, and no inhibitions were standing between them. Not even when he reached out a hand to pull her to him was there any sign of resistance. Instead, she melted into his arms as he slowly pulled her in for a kiss.
There was no hurry, and he worked his way slowly over her entire body with his lips. Warm water cascaded down their bodies as they intimately discovered each other.
The feel of ecstasy had her moaning with desire for more. Sensing her need he lifted her, then carried her to one of the beds and proceeded to explore the rest of her body. There was no stopping now, and the two bodies entwined together in the grip of passion. She let out a loud moan when he kissed her twin crests, and the sound drove him out of control. Both were panting now as she gave in to allow him access to her body. The only sounds in the room were sighs and whimpers as they explored each other before reaching for the heights of ecstasy.
The weekend had begun, and this was just the beginning.”
And that is the end of the story!
This is me rolling my eyes @@
I prefer to encourage authors and would have given it 3 stars despite the bad writing if not for the titillating promises in the description.
I received a free copy of Breaking Barriers, but that did not affect my review.
The author has given us characters that pull at the heart strings. Story started out with sadness but came back strong with love and happiness.
This is a quick read about Melissa and how her life changes once her parents die. Both Melissa and Tom are the main characters and they have a sweet relationship. I like how the author presents these two characters and lets the reader in to how each one is thinking. Both characters are relatable and have realistic dialogue. I enjoyed reading this book and I am looking forward to more books in the series.
A nice sweet romance read
Melissa, who lost her parents and is guardian to her teenaged brother, moves them to the city to make enough money to live on. She runs into Tom, a sous chef, her first day of work. As the story progresses their thoughts are jumbled, a friendship develops, and they must determine if the thoughts of others will control their actions. Braking Barriers is a nice sweet romance read you can take in on your lunch break.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
