“Grady and Sutton’s love story is one you won’t be able to forget. A childhood crush that turned into so much more. The journey. The angst. The heartache. This is Harloe Rae at her very best!” — LJ Shen, USA Today bestselling author“Tell me a happy something, Sutton.”I was only seven the first time Grady Bowen whispered those words to me. Cloaked by the black sky under a blanket of stars, it was … black sky under a blanket of stars, it was easy to get lost. He didn’t have any good memories of his own and needed to borrow mine. I would willingly give him anything.
Being infatuated with that boy was a beautiful curse. What could have been special didn’t get the chance to bloom. He’d never see me as more than his best friend’s kid sister. That was a hard lesson to learn, but not the most difficult.
Grady had always been struggling against the odds. Eventually he quit fighting and let his family’s reputation own him. Try as I might, those influences were beyond my reach.
He didn’t mean to break my heart. Or maybe he did. I shouldn’t have made it so easy for him. Either way, our wrongs against each other carved new lines between us.
I went four years without seeing Grady—each one more painful than the last. That distance did nothing to dull my feelings toward him. But things are different now. Most noticeably is Grady. I barely recognize this man he’s become. And that’s the way he intends to keep it. Not that it really matters.
Grady Bowen stopped being my happy something long ago.

I love this book. Wow. Just wow. Your first love is usually your only love. I know people who have been in each other’s lives since kindergarten and are still together. There is no stopping Sutton and Grady! I love Jace. I can’t wait to download and read his short story. Harloe always pulls me in to her book world and makes me feel like I belong there. My all time favorite happy something is the escape from reality I get when I read.
Grady and Sutton
This is one of my favorites from Harloe
It is a great romance. About two soul mates meant to be together. But it takes some time for that to happen. I just how they both are waiting for each other but the other doesn’t know.
A love story everyone wants. You won’t be disappointed.
Five beautiful, heart-pounding stars! This book was a epic masterpiece! It was heart-wrenching and angsty, and boy did it give me ALL THE FEELS!! Grady and Sutton are !!
Grady is a good guy, no a great guy. He’s come from nothing, with a drug addicted mom and self-worth that’s been all beat to hell. He’s loved her all his life but he knows he doesn’t deserve her. This brother’s best fried romance is sweet and easy with some suspense, which this author does well. It’s not her normal heart-wrenching emotional read but that doesn’t make it bad it’s just different. Yes we have steam and yes we have jealousy but mostly we have characters that are just a little bent and not fully broken. They have a past which lends them the strength they need when things get dicey. This may be what some consider a beach read but for me it was the perfect read at the perfect time.
I really liked this book. The writing pulled me in from the beginning. I loved the characters with their great chemistry. But, the story won this book for me it flowed and made me feel a part of the story.
A thoroughly enjoyable read, about an unconditional Love that survives the a towns predjudice and judgement.Grady was a badboy and his Reputation was questionable so people assumed the worst of him..Sutton was his best friends little sister who had been in Love with him forever, but Grady Never felt good enough for her, even though she would tell him he was the one for her and no one else was right for her.
Harloe Rae has written a beautiful story that broke my heart at times,Grady was such a great guy that didnt deserve the hassle he had to go through,he was so swoon worthy I had hearts in my eyes while reading.Sutton was a strong woman she knew what she wanted and she did not back down no matter what, she stood by Grady even when the odds were against them.
I Loved this book,it was so addictive and I ploughed through the pages not wanting to stop until the end.A fantastic read that I highly recommend
–“Tell me a happy something Sutton”–
Sutton and Grady’s story was so cute, sweet and heart felt. This was a small town country, brothers best friend, brooding hero story which are some of my favourite tropes
Sutton has been in love with her older brothers best friend since she was a child but never thought he would want anything more than just friendship. She was adorable, loyal, had a heart of gold and loved fiercly
Grady was broody and distant at first but once you got to see his walls break down he truly was a sweet, kind and caring soul who never felt he was good enough for sutton due to his upbrining and the way the town saw him. He broke my heart many times with his inner thoughts and i just wanted to hold him and never let go
Their story wasnt easy and had a few issues and drama along the way but ultimately it was beautiful and so full of warmth and happiness
I loved the small town aspect of this story and the world built by Harloe as well as the many side characters including Sutton’s entire family and I loved how each chapter started with one of the ‘happy somethings’ from sutton and grady’s list
I do wish we got more of sutton and grady’s past when they were younger and got to really see their bond and connection grow from the start as I’m sure it would’ve been so incredibly sweet
This was my first book by Harloe Rae and I really enjoyed it and cant wait to read more in the future
Breaker was absolutely incredible! I loved Grady and Sutton’s story so much! Nothing can break a love that’s meant to be.
Second chances don’t always feel earned but with matters of the heart they are always worth the battle!
Sutton has loved Grady for as long as she can remember but when he sends her on her way Sutton hides her heart and never wants to see the man who holds it ever again! Unforeseen circumstances send Sutton home and she isn’t sure if her heart can handle rejection once more! With Sutton back home Grady needs to decide if he can keep his true feelings bottled up still or if the beauty who has returned home is worth every ounce of the fight! Breaker is a sweet small-town romance that had me swooning and wanting to find my own Grady to call mine! The heat factor is amazing and the angst off the charts! A definite fall must-read of 2019!
Grady and Sutton were meant to be together. Such a beautiful love story and amazing characters. I loved this book from start to finish.
Before I started this book I read a review that called Harloe Rae the queen of swoon. This book definitely fits that description to a T. This story was mega sweet, however when you add in the heartbreak that was Grady’s childhood/early adulthood and the hurdles that Grady and Sutton had to leap in order to get their happily ever after, the result is a perfectly imperfect love story. There are just the right amounts of sweetness, sadness and angst to keep you hanging on until the very last page.
Sutton Olsen has been in love with Grady Bowen, her brother best friend, for almost her entire life – and over the years, her feelings only grown stronger. But Grady never saw her like that…
When they first met, Grady was so lost that Sutton began to share “happy things” with him, which became their thing.
“ , .”
Grady’s childhood wasn’t easy, to say the least. Dealing with countless of obstacles, disappointments and pain has shaped him to be the man he is today… And dammit, I felt his pain deep in my stomach.
Sutton has always been the bright light to his darkness, but he won’t destroy her goodness. For him, she’ll always be too good… someone he’ll never deserve – even though everything she wants is just his heart.
” . .
’ – .”
Even when Sutton went to college, distance and time didn’t change her feelings… Now that she’s coming home after 4 years, it all becomes too painful so she needs to let him go and move on – but her heart knows what it needs and who it wants.
Sutton is very stubborn, for better or worse. She knows what she wants and won’t give up until she gets it. But is it possible that the man who never seen her, will become the man who never let her go…?

Their story is a messy journey – full of ups and downs.
Sometimes it was painful, sometimes sweet, sometimes frustrating, sometimes romantic… But in the end, it was totally worth it!
It’s a beautiful story about friendship, acceptance and love with characters you can’t help but fall madly in love with!
I liked that each chapter opens with a quote of something that makes the characters happy, I want to start my days this way, it was so positive and heartwarming.
I really loved Grady. He was such a brooding broken man, and he was so convinced he’s unworthy – that I wish I could get inside the pages and give him a big hug! I wanted him to find the happiness he deserved…

Although I really enjoyed the book, there were some things I didn’t like… I wont elaborate to avoid spoilers, but there were some things that made me roll my eyes (for example, there were some too easy solution to their problems).
And although I totally love sweet story’s, there were some parts in the book that felt TOO sweet for my liking.
This book had everything I love in a romantic book – a broken hero, a strong heroine, hot chemistry and lots of heartbreaking, funny and romantic moments. Highly recommend!

Oh my goodness! Harloe Rae definitely wrote a story with all the feels! I can’t even handle it right now. I am so in love with Sutton and Grady and their love! They are so perfect together. I love small town romances that pull at all of the heart strings and that’s exactly what this story did. I wanted to laugh. I wanted to cry. I wanted to hurt a certain cop. I felt it all!
Grady is such a swoon worthy character. I loved him, but it was not love at first sight. He made me so angry in the beginning of the story! That quickly changed though. He deserves all of the happy somethings and it was so sad that he thought he didn’t! I am so glad he realized he deserved to be happy and Sutton was his happy something! Once he opened his heart up to Sutton, holy hell! He had me feeling all the feels. I loved how much he loved Sutton. The two of them just work so well together. She did everything in her power to make sure that he knew he was worthy of love and happiness. She would always be by his side and she would fight for him (even when no one else would). I need more of them! Sutton was awesome all on her own as well. She was such a likable and relatable character. I loved her sass and fire. It’s so refreshing when a female character knows what she wants and goes for it. And what she wanted was Grady! God, these two were fire together. She was just what Grady needed. I ship these two so much
Overall, I would give this story a 5/5! I felt every emotion possible while reading this story. It was fantastic! Grady and Sutton are relationship goals! Thank you so much for writing this story Harloe Rae!
5 Cranky Stars
“Love you, Sutt. I love you Gray” That is the perfect line to describe these two. Granted it wasn’t always this way. They did love each other but they never said it before now. Breaker will certainly make you swoon and give you hope that the guy with the giant wall around his heart can be loved and love you back in return. It even made me tear up at times. Everyone deserves a love like Sutton and Grady. That unwavering support and butterflies. Seriously it made my heart happy.
Sutton Olsen has always loved her brothers best friend Grady Bowen. He was a stain on their tiny town despite never doing anything bad other than being a jerk all because he was a Bowen. Sutton believed in all things Gray. She loved him with her whole heart despite being off at college for four years she never stopped. When she finds herself back in town, she sets out to prove to him once and for all that they are destined to be. That he will never have to endure the towns judgement without someone by his side who loves him. It’s a bumpy ride but Gray is so worth it to Sutton.
Grady Bowen has a reputation. His mother is the town druggie and his dad is in prison so everyone assumes he will screw up as well. He does nothing to prove them wrong or right he just exists and keeps his head down. Sutton has always been his happy something. When she breezes back in town she’s just as beautiful as ever and he tries to keep her at a distance. One blip in time makes him realize that he deserves to be with her and knocks down his walls for her. It isn’t without loss and heartache but it’s also filled with true love and support.
Oh I love Grady Bowen. I love how Harloe writes these flawed characters you can’t help but love. Her books start with the couple butting heads and denying their love but then once they collide nothing keeps them apart. There is no real epic tragic misunderstanding that makes them break up they just weather the storm like couples in real life do. I think I love that the most. You know this is going to be good, but you don’t truly know till you read it. Yet this book does have a wrench in the HEA tossed in in the form of scumbag sociopath Lance. I mean seriously his name is Lance! Breaker is filled with heartache so be prepared to have your heart a little broken. I just love Harloe Rae books and I think you should give them a try. We even see a little someone from books past so maybe that will lure you in.
I totally went in blind when starting this book and didnt know what to expect. But after reading a few of this author’s books, I knew it had to be good. Then I met Grady and got hit with all the feels. A totally swoony but broody, motorcycle riding tough guy… yes please! Sutton is so sweet and completely loyal. No matter what she shows her toughness and stubbornness when it comes to Grady. Loved every page and so happy Harloe keeps spoiling us with that epic extended epilogue and not to mention with Jace’s and Harlyn’s novellelas to download at the end of this book!! So 1-Click Breaker, you dont want to miss out.
I wasn’t too sure when I first saw it but something kept pulling me to it and I’m so happy I read it! I loved It from the beginning, I loved the way the characters stuck to who they were from the beginning. I loved it all and I will definitely be rereading for awhile.
After finishing reading BREAKER by Harloe Rae, I thought about my feelings overnight before beginning to write a review. Today I can say that Grady & Sutton are one of the “Best Couples” ever! Plus, this is one of the “Best Love Stories” for the pages! At only seven years of age, Sutten Olsen knew that Grady Bowen was her “Happy Something!” Her feelings, devotion, and love never wavered, even away from home, through four years of college. Even after his rejection because he wanted her to be with someone more worthy. He was convinced that he was not good enough. His worthless parents drummed any self-worth out of his young mind. Also, the fact that his only friend in the entire world was Sutten’s older brother. Who just happened to be overly protective of his sister. No one and I mean no one was good enough in his mind for Sutten! Their parents treat him like a part of the family, too!
Grady was torn when Sutten returned to town, after being gone for four long years. She is the only “Happy Something” he’d ever allowed himself. But that was a secret he’d planned to keep forever. When his greatest comfort returned to town, he never planned to admit, that when growing-up she was always the only one who really mattered. How he’d needed those stolen moments with her, no matter how juvenile they were. She gave him an ounce of hope that everything might turn out alright. He really underestimated the grown-up version that had returned and the woman Sutton had become. Then Grady suffered a horrible accident, and Sutten saved his life. With the help of some painkillers that proved to be an effective truth serum. Grady’s protective walls came tumbling down. Sutten might have dreamed & wanted him all her life, but Grady needed her as much as the air he breathed.
To look at the stars. To find some good. To be free. To live happy. This is all they wanted. But so much angst, grief, and heartache stand in their pathway. There is plain evil trying to tear them apart. Sutten proves to be one of the most devoted woman characters I’ve ever met in a book. She does the impossible when things are looking dim. If any couple deserve a “Happy Something” it is Sutten & Grady!
Loved Grady & Sutton. These two are a match made in Heaven. Moving back home after college Sutton is faced with the one man she has always loved. Her treacherous heart reminds her of that and when she comes face to face with Grady after years of him avoiding her. One tiny accident and Grady is ready to lay all his cards out but what will Sutton’s family think?
This book is jam packed with all the feels. “Tell me a happy something” loved reading all of their happy somethings.
This is a great read, and one of my favorites this month! I kept turning after the last page looking for more. The characters are fantastic, and i loved how Sutton is portrayed as strong but delicate. Definitely a recommended read.
Sutton Olsen has been in love with her brother’s best friend, Grady Bowen, for years. He felt the same way, but pushed her away because he thought she was too good for him and she deserved someone better. They finally get together when she comes back home after college, but outside forces conspire against them. This story follows their journey as they face the trials that life throws their way.
I could hardly put my Kindle down while reading this book! The story was well-structured and the writing was FLAWLESS. It had me swooning and tearing up, and sometimes both at the same time!
Breaker is a brother’s best friend, small town, childhood crush romance written in dual first person POV. It ends with a HEA. No cliffhanger, no cheating.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
