“Grady and Sutton’s love story is one you won’t be able to forget. A childhood crush that turned into so much more. The journey. The angst. The heartache. This is Harloe Rae at her very best!” — LJ Shen, USA Today bestselling author“Tell me a happy something, Sutton.”I was only seven the first time Grady Bowen whispered those words to me. Cloaked by the black sky under a blanket of stars, it was … black sky under a blanket of stars, it was easy to get lost. He didn’t have any good memories of his own and needed to borrow mine. I would willingly give him anything.
Being infatuated with that boy was a beautiful curse. What could have been special didn’t get the chance to bloom. He’d never see me as more than his best friend’s kid sister. That was a hard lesson to learn, but not the most difficult.
Grady had always been struggling against the odds. Eventually he quit fighting and let his family’s reputation own him. Try as I might, those influences were beyond my reach.
He didn’t mean to break my heart. Or maybe he did. I shouldn’t have made it so easy for him. Either way, our wrongs against each other carved new lines between us.
I went four years without seeing Grady—each one more painful than the last. That distance did nothing to dull my feelings toward him. But things are different now. Most noticeably is Grady. I barely recognize this man he’s become. And that’s the way he intends to keep it. Not that it really matters.
Grady Bowen stopped being my happy something long ago.

Another fabulous story by Harloe Rae!
Breaker is the story of Grady and Sutton…”Tell me something happy…”
I loved this saying between two people that have known each other since childhood.
Sutton has loved Grady since meeting him and when she tries to give him something precious, Grady spurns her and you can feel the hurt in the words and pages.
Grady has loved Sutton too, but he has kept his feelings hidden for so long. When he sees her again, he wants her to be his something happy.
I enjoyed the quickness of them becoming a couple, no long drawn-out process. And the fierceness of Grady’s love is nothing short of swoon-worthy! Grady hasn’t had an easy life and he deserves all the good things that Sutton can bring to his world.
Dire situations and a love and trust that rises above is what is most prevalent in this story. I thoroughly enjoyed every page.
I also loved the glimpse of past characters, it was lovely to read what was going on in their worlds!
You can’t go wrong with a Harloe Rae story! This is another gem in her treasure chest of books!

I absolutely loved this book the moment I started reading it. I fell in love with Grady the man just makes you want to sigh with his sexy way’s and Sutton I just love this name and it’s fitting for her and her spunky lil self.
This was my first book to read by this arthur and I can say this won’t be my last. I have to say her style of writing brought these character’s to life and could definitely see this playing in a movie.
This is one you won’t want to miss that’s for sure.
Oh my gosh……I’m speechless and I know I need to find words….but Harloe did it again. Grady and Sutton are another super awesome couple that Harloe has created.
In all of her books, she makes her characters feel so real. I honestly feel like, with all of her books, that I KNOW these characters! She makes them feel so real.
This is another 5 star read because Harloe’s writing is so good that you feel like you are right there with these characters!
Keep writing Harloe!!!!
I really loved Grady and Sutton. Such a great story and I loved the plot twists. Those two belong together and it makes you cheer for them one hundred percent.
Nothing like falling for your brothers best friend! Though apparently both loving each other from afar. Grady always thinking he wasn’t good enough. Until one day after years of being away at college Sutton shows back up and Grady can’t hide it anymore. What a great story!
Great language, good characters, and satisfying conclusion.
This was such a sweet story and I loved every bit of it, especially Grady. Grady was such a sweet man that thought because of the way he grew up and coming from the wrong side of the tracks made him the ultimate worse person ever and definitely not good enough for Sutton. Sutton was the girl next door type, the best friend’s little sister, and the all-around perfect person in Grady’s eyes so that made her off limits to him. He was so in love with her but let her go for four years, then she came back. Refusing their connection and attraction was extremely hard on Grady but Sutton was tenacious, and she never gave up on them. I loved the story and man I hurt when things went south for them, but it was beautiful. The other characters were amazing as well and I would love for a book about Jace.
As someone that grew up with more of a ‘Grady’ background than a ‘Sutton,’ I can say that this book captured the ‘tortured soul’ element of never feeling good enough. Despite your significant accomplishments in life, sometimes you don’t feel deserving of the things you eventually accomplish.
The romance was well portrayed, and the characters very likable.
Recommend.

This is an angsty, slightly over-the-top in places, story that packs a lot of feels. There’s a push-pull dynamic between the heroine and hero that is interesting to read. However, there are a few places where the narrative shifts so abruptly, that I almost thought I was reading another story. That aside, this is a great book if you’re looking for angst (but not too much angst) and struggle (but not too much struggle).
All the feels with this one
I love the author’s writing style. Very often in books you get a short epilogue into the couple’s future lives after they finally get together. This book is different in that the majority of the book is how they live their lives together, I found it very refreshing. Most of the plot twists in this book have questions answered very quickly. It’s smooth and makes for a very well paced book. I couldn’t read it fast enough. It’s one of those books where you cant wait to finish it yet you don’t want it to end.
Sutton and Grady are the epitome of couple goals. Their heartwarming support for each other is flawlessly unwavering, even when they didn’t want to admit it. I loved the drama and unpredictability throughout. Grady and Sutton sure do have a lot thrown at them, grab your copy today to see how they deal with all of it.
Harloe is a master at her craft! Everyone should read Breaker! It was aptly named too!
Sutton has come back to her hometown after college. She is trying to start fresh. Prior to leaving for college she had told the love of her life she wanted him. He pushed her away, saying she deserved better. What could be better than the love of your life? Hoping to move on she comes home to start her business.
Grady is told by a local police officer he is going to try to date Sutton when she gets home. This man is his enemy, and it stirs something inside him. He would not want any other man to touch his Sutton. Is she his? He better do something fast. It may be too late.
Such a tender and sincere story. I loved every page and read it all at once in one sitting. No putting this one down. Lovely story about great odds that must be beaten. With real love and real hope. I found this one to be truly inspiring as well as a joy to read. Some great sexy times too. Great read.
The different emotions Grady and Sutton go through personally and together makes their story so special, this is really a very good read!!
Sutton and Grady… dear lord have mercy these two! Grady was the perfect rugged but ridiculously sweet guy!
I really loved this book by a new to me author. Loved the characters and their story. We have Sutton who has been in love with her brothers best friend Grady. He rejects her and she leaves for college. They don’t speak for four long years. You could really feel the emotion in this book. Grady doesn’t feel he is good enough for Sutton because because of the way he grew up and who his mother is. He is treated pretty badly by people in the town except Jace his best friend and his family. Most of his self doubt is definitely in his head though. When Sutton comes back all of a sudden he feels alive again. They finally work through his pushing her away and their chemistry is explosive. They definitely belong together. There is a force out there out to separate them but thankfully are unsuccessful. I look forward to reading more by this author.

New author for me and whilst I enjoyed the book it just didn’t wow me. It was quite a good storyline, but I found some of the characters annoying and some events were unbelievable. There were definitely some swoon worthy moments.
If you like a hot and steamy read…this may be up your alley.
Grady is the boy who grew up on the wrong side of town, his father is in prison and a drug addicted mother. He took refuge on the Olsen property as a nine year old boy trying to avoid the horrific truth he lived daily. He became best friends with Jace Olsen and had a crush on his little sister Sutton ever since. Although his heart will always belong to her, he thinks she deserves someone better than him and pushes her away.
Sutton has been in love with Grady since she was a little girl in pigtails. She’s leaving for college and can’t leave without telling him how she feels about him, but he rejects her. Four years later she is returning home and hopes it won’t be awkward. Her brother is like a personal bodyguard, scaring any suitors away including Sutton. When Lance a crazy police officer starts getting a little to close and personal with Sutton, Grady steps in.
5 stars for Breaker: A Brothers Best Friend by Harloe Rae. I am a big fan of Harloe’s work and if you have never read any of her books , read this one and you will become a fan.
“There’s only one guy I’ve ever imagined spending my life with. I grew up with stars in my eyes aimed at him. Loving Grady was instinct. The dislike part has been more of a slow burn. My love sick heart is finally beginning to admit he never saw me as more than a little kid chasing him around.”
Grady and Sutton grew up together, with Grady being Sutton’s brothers best friend. They used to tell each other “Happy Somethings” but all that ended four years ago. Grady needed these happy somethings because his life was anything but happy. Sutton had always had a crush on him and then she tells him and everything changes for these two. Sutton leaves for college and doesn’t look back for 4 years , now she is home . Grady has no idea what to do now that Sutton is back . They have a longing for each other that nothing could compete with , too bad they are both afraid. Grady breaks my heart. He just doesn’t believe he is good enough for Sutton . Sutton just doesn’t know if she can let him in again. “My heart had threatened to burst. Tumble out of my chest and land in her lap. She owns the damn thing, might as well hand it over. The beating organ is useless without her.”
Breaker is the correct name for this book. I felt broken after I finished reading it. “I rip my gaze off his retreating form. Grady Bowen means nothing to me, but my sappy heart bleeds the truth. This man is bod to ruin me all over again. Will I let him?
This book will fill you with longing, love, and so much more. You will not be disappointed with it.
This is a beautiful story with some really lovely writing. I really loved the author’s writing style. It was very smooth with a great flow. Harloe Rae creates some really interesting characters. The character development is phenomenal in this book and the characters have a lot of depth. Both main characters have a past with one another and the reader can’t help but root for their love. The build-up of the romance is written really well. Sutton and Grady definitely have great chemistry. I thought that the delivery of the story could have used some work. While I enjoyed the story overall, I felt bored through much of the book. What kept me reading was the amazing characters. I think that this is an intance of “it’s not you, it’s me” when it comes to me and this book. It’s a good story, it just didn’t wow me. Though, based on the characters and writing I would definitely recommend this book.
